Or are you talking specifically about the reddit style sleuthing? I don't know anything about that stuff, I'm commenting more about the MSM.
Mostly the former.  There's a Washington Post headline asking the same question but it's behind a paywall.
I checked it out.  I suspect the sleuthing interest here has more to do with the couple relationship factor.  The murdered couple were killed by a stranger, and there isn't much to speculate on.  It's difficult to search for a killer based on no info at all.

The article also references the death of Elisa Lam.  The documentary on that show a lot of uninformed idiots speculating on nothing and doing it very badly.  They may as well have been watching one of those idiotic ghost hunting shows.

The only lead we have is they phoned a friend to report a creepy guy and considered moving sites.  We have nothing else.  It's been a month.  Were they sexually assaulted?  Robbed?  Just seems strange to me considering where it happened and who it happened to.
Not reporting this to all and sundry often helps with the investigation.  If the case is truly cold, I expect a more detailed appeal will be made.  And a lot of forensic results take a few weeks to come in.  It's not all 45 minutes later, we have the DNA tests back.

I'm looking at this van and not seeing the same stickers that were on what I thought was the impounded van.

That poor girl. The video with the cops was such a raw glimpse into how troubled she was. So ####### sad.

Slowing of the video.  Compressing or altering digital data isn't a zero sum game.  Things get lost (and sometimes created) in that process.
Huh. Maybe.

The vertical inorganic "shadow" is and stays in exactly the spot where the doors would meet, which I suppose could be a freakish coincidence of the playback speed...or is an shadow looking into the back of the van.

I guess I was asking if we know she was murdered. Is it possible she went off on her own and died while out there alone? I should have been more clear.

But yeah, if it looks like murder when they examine the body, it would seem it has to be him.

I would just like to make it clear that, while I DO gamble on sports a lot, I'm not killing young women because of it.

Also, RIP Gabby.  Sucky, sucky situation all the way around.

We don't know with 100% certainty she was murdered, but the police's public statement said the cause of death had been determined. If she died of exposure or something non-traumatic, seems like it would take longer to make a definitive statement.

still nothing official, so we don't know it's murder- agree. still solidly in the world of assumptions.

also... still no word on the guy's whereabouts?

Yeah how she died is unknown but if she wandered off why wouldn’t he have asked for help or mentioned this to anyone? He just drove back home.

Now he’s MIA.

That we can see the couple’s social media, the cop video, and now this YouTuber video that let them find the body makes this whole story that much more crazy, surreal, etc.

If the video was slowed down, that apparent door closing may be an artifact of the alteration rather than a real thing.
Yeah, I think the dark line is an artifact from the ladder on the rear door.

There are other comments that say they see someone digging in the field next to the van. There seems to be someone/thing out there in the video, but it's too close to the van relative to where they found the body IMO.

I took several rapid scrrenshots of the video as it played regular speed...this one stood out around 1:33 of the video (and zoomed way in). Definitely looks like a gap in between the doors. In the  next screenshot, it's blurred by the bug on the windshield, and by the time you can see the van somewhat clear again, the doors are solid white.

Freaky

When they get closer, no black vertical line/gap between doors

what does this mean? he was closing the door? everyone on twitter was saying they can see him in the field

Just find it bizarre that an unsolved double murder in a place where murder is virtually unheard of doesn't get the internet sleuths worked up like a missing pretty blonde.
You’re correct of course. But the bolded, is the issue.

media bias drives me bonkers. Reason number 47295021 why I don’t watch the news much.

No idea,  but there's no denying it's all pretty wild.

Maybe he was there and saw those people coming so he closed the door. Maybe it's just a weird video glitch.  Who knows.

Enhanced.😮

If they found the body near the van in that video and then he drove home in the van I think murder makes more sense than suicide or accidental death now.

I don’t get it. What does it matter that the van door was closing?

Her body was found 900 feet away from the van. She may have already been dead in the van. At some point he had to carry her to where she was ultimately found.

Guy looked about 120 pounds and strung out. He wasnt gonna drag her 900 inches.

Well thank god the fantasy football messageboard is on the case. Phew.

Ok. But. The van door opens. And it closes. Explain to me why it’s relevant.

OMG WE THOUGHT THIS WAS A NON OPENING VAN DOOR AND THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.
I don’t get what the door shutting really adds other than it’s crazy that these people happened to capture this moment.

It is nuts you can see what look like her sandals and a phone on the ground behind the van.

Most likely you’d prolly let the police handle it. Also everyone is betting sports online where you have to put the money upfront. I doubt Draft Kings is breaking this guys knees because he lost his $25

There's other forms of sports betting not online. I had a friend who got involved in betting with the wrong people. Ended up with a divorce. Worst thing this country ever did or one of them is legalize betting and gambling.

Hey gb...this thread shouldn't have anything to do with sports betting. Lets stay focused on a missing girl and her fiance.

Not trying to make it one I simple suggested the dude could've had money problems and was involved in some sort of betting. Finances are usually on the top of these incidents unfortunately.

I guess its important b/c it show that there was activity inside and around the van at the time this video was taken. Otherwise, you might make a case that the van was abandoned or try to establish that the BF wasnt there.

I guess that also, whoever shut the door may have been ion the process of doing something--like taking out the body (speculation)--but stopped and shut it when he heard the other bus coming. While its amazing that they got this footage, imagine if they were a second or 2 later and recorded him in the act of something?

Is there any reason to assume she wasn't still there?  I assumed the sandals were there because she took them off to get in the van and closed the door herself.  But maybe that's not right with the timeline?
