GAME 1 Has Arrived: The New England Patriots Vs. The Kansas City Chiefs (1 Viewer)

For whatever reason, Belichick struggles against teams with running QBs.  And its showing up again here.  I wanted to see the Chiefs go to the AFC championship game vs the Patriots for this reason.  The Chiefs would have given them a better game than the Steelers did.  I'm not sure why.  Its not like the running QBs are piling up lots of running yards against Belichick.  Belichick's defense just sucks when facing offenses with running QBs.

It might be that its just one extra wrinkle too many.  Having to worry about a QB running causes breakdowns everywhere else?

how is that NOT grounding?

Receiver should have to be both standing AND looking for the ball

Ok Kansas City rolling now... Time to bring in the closer...

Who is the man who looks out for his brother man...

If you make rules like that you introduce subjectivity into the calls. I'm 100% against subjectivity in rule calls. I'll take the rule the way it is.
subjective calls are the nfl's mo. especially ones that award an auto 1st down on a 5 yard defensive penalty

To be fair, they have been SLOWLY getting rid of many of them. The push out rule from a few years ago was one. I know there have been others that I've applauded them for.

Right, but how do you write the rule? And, what if he was on the ground by himself and could catch the ball and get up, etc...
OK, I can see your point. Guess if a receiver still is technically eligible to catch a ball on the ground if he's not being touched (is this the rule?), then it should be good in that situation as well.

Andy Reid: "hey, remember that thing where we hand the ball to Hunt & he goes for 11?"

OC: "Yeah?l"

Reid: "Never do that again."
