Game of Thrones on HBO: non-book thread (1 Viewer)

Did anyone else catch Stannis's wife naming her jar babies and one of them was called Edric?

Littlefinger gave Cersai an interesting look when she reminded him that he failed her on her order to find Arya. Hard to believe he missed her at Harrenhal when she was working for Tywin.

How does Robb think he's going to talk his way out of betraying Frey?

Offer up another Stark to marry into the Frey family?

In addition to Dany showing her badass side, I also enjoyed the scene where Margery talked about the girl calling her pigface because of her nose. I think it's very interesting that the writers would write a scene about an actresses physical flaw and make her talk about it so candidly.
Perhaps she was partially cast in the role due to the "pig nose".
Maybe so - was this scene in the book?

Yes because that pig nose makes her hidious.
Didn't say she is hideous, but I'm not on board with those who think she's really hot. Maybe in part because I seem to remember being underwhelmed by the average-at-best boobies she showed in The Tudors...

LOL

OK first of all, in order of appearance, let's rank the asses we got to see.

1. The redheaded wildling...Egress or whatever. We suddenly like her a lot more than we did before. Tight front, great back. We like. Two thumbs up that one!

2. Jon Snow. Only a momentary glimpse, but it looks good. Let's hope for more from this Emo Crow, as long as it means more Egress nudies.

3. The Kingslayer Jamie Lannister. That's just a really good man-butt. Good for him. Sucks that he lost a hand, but there's always that ### to fall back on...so to speak.

4. She-Ra. I'm truly impressed. I was not expecting anything even in the realm of respectability there. Good on ya, she-hulk! :pickle: Although now that I'm thinking about it, there's a strong possibility that that was a stunt-butt. Hmmmm...not appreciating the potential deception here.

5. The Gay Succubus. Ummmmmm, am I alone in thinking that was a pretty great ### no matter what the front gear entailed? Seriously, if I was dating a girl with that ###, I would force yoga pants on her every time we left the house. :oldunsure:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I thought he knew.......but for whatever reason let it slide.

Speaking of Robert, where are the Baratheons in all this?
Joff is one in name, and Stannis is Robert's brother.
As was Renly, but other than that there's been no Bartheons involved or even spoken of that I can recall.
And Gendry is one in blood.
I'm talking more about the Family and the House Seat. We saw what Renly and Stannis were doing in their royally appointed positions, but nothing from the Baratheon homeland.

Storms End? I thought Robert essentially moved the House Seat to Kings Landing?

Stark stock price has to be at near it's 52 week low right? I'm taking my profits in the dragons and trying to buy on the dip here.

They all sided with Stannis and got their asses handed to them at Blackwater.

The only thing I can think of is he didn't see any advantage to himself if he brought Arya back. What would he gain by doing so? He's already "in" with the Lannisters and doing work for the crown and is Lord of Harrenhall now. If the Starks did lay siege to the city, or overtake the thrown, his safety net would be that he knowingly did not out Arya in front of Tywin to keep her safe.

I think you have the right idea but its too early for both moves. The dragons only stand to get stronger, and the Starks might have new lows.

Diana Rigg just killing it:

"I was told you were drunk, impertinent and thoroughly debauched...You can imagine my disappointment at finding nothing but a brow beaten bookkeeper"
Whoa. That's Diana Rigg? I had no idea she was playing Lady Oenna until I read that and it all clicked. Wow. I can't say the years have been kind, but, man, she's been doing an awesome job portraying one of my new favorite characters this season.

I'm glad to see the Hound stick around. I thought he was a goner. As bad as as he is, he has some good in him and I hope we get to see more of it.I'm not liking the insinuations made toward Jorah Mormont by the old dude whose name I cant remember. I've really liked this character and fear he will be usurped by the old dude and lose Dany's trust.Jaime was amazing tonight. The bath scene was as good as it gets.
Remember, he was spying on her. I am not sure if he had direct knowledge of the assasination attempt and had a change of heart at the last moment or just was suspicious but either way- his history has reason for her not to trust him. That was what that whole scene was about because until now there was no one in contact with Dany that had knowledge of Jorah's less than pure history concerning her. (other than that masked witch chick)

All depends on how the Frey thing unfolds but Winterfell is smoldering, one family member has been killed, one is a hostage, one most everyone has no idea where she is, two are thought to be dead and Robb just lost half his army. Yea, not the best of days for House Stark.

Don't forget about Jon. I have a feeling his days get a lot better from here.

Can you put some proper nouns in place of the pro nouns?

I am lost and must have missed the less than pure history part.

Sir Barriston Selmy was spying on Dany, I got that part....after that, you lost me.

Mormont was spying on Dany - Mormont was working to become un-exiled and allowed back into Westeros

That was discussed on the show, right? Mormont was exiled for slave trading....but Robert or Varys mentioned him spying for them wanted to be un-exiled....then he fell in love with Dany.

The Jamie / Brienne conversation was the best of the show last night IMO, but I missed a piece of it. I couldn't really hear what was said right before she got pissed and sprang out of the water. What was that about? I know he ended with a background on the killing of the Mad King (which was great), but what happened right before that?
I'm enjoying the show but it just doesn't touch the books as far as surprises and build up go. This scene though is one if my faves from the book and they nailed it. Also the closing scene with the lanisters was awesome. You have that brief feeling if sympathy for Cersei after despising her for wearing that smirk.

Not I. I felt no sympathy whatsoever. I despise Cersei and would be hating myself the entire time I was boning her for like 3 weeks straight.

:goodposting: I thought it was hilarious - she so wants to be a Lannister, but clearly has no idea how to play the game of thrones with the big boys.

True. He does have a rather unseemly past, but it appears he's come around and seems loyal to her...or maybe it's just because he's in love with her. I dig the character though and would love to see him in combat. My guess is that he can kick some serious ###. Hoping he doesn't turn out to be a giant tool.

Remember, Jorah handled that Dothraki guy pretty handily when Dany was going into labor. So, he's got game.

Also, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark is a tremendous talent....Just brilliance
For being so young and (I believe) her first acting gig- she is kicking massive booty. The last episode really allowed her to show some acting skills.
Yeah, that past episode was the first time I was really impressed with her acting. I am hoping that they don't cut more of her story. My favorite scene in the books involves Arya.

I think the entire point of the explanation of the Kingslayer seen is about how ambiguous he "unseemly" past is. Sure he killed a king and threw a kid out the window and ####ed his sister but...he killed a Mad King who was about to burn everyone in the city in their beds, he threw the kid out the window to avoid having a civil war on his hands if it was revealed that Jaime was Joff's father, as for the third point... well http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Lena-Headey-the-sarah-connor-chronicles-633821_1200_1800.jpg

The mad king thing I can buy, but he pushed Bran out the window and casually chuckled "the things I do for love" before calmly waltzing back inside his sister.

This shtick wasn't funny the first ten times, and I don't think the large font is gonna help.

Not trying to be funny. Shadyridr was cursing people out but I don't want to do that so I'm using large font instead. You guys wanted a pure, show only thread so I'm just trying to help out.

Duty and Honor. It's all a matter of perspective.
