Game of Thrones on HBO: non-book thread (1 Viewer)

There shouldn't be a problem with having two threads...we do it with "Walking Dead".Just name this the TV Show Only thread and let's move forward. My son hates the "Mother of Dragons"...I of course, think she's awesome. I told him that eventually they'll all have to rely on her dragons to be rid of those stinking white walkers in my opinion.I was so bummed they killed Sean Bean...that dude dies in everything so I should've seen it coming as soon as I saw his name.I can't wait for the new season.

Wait, how old is your son? He is old enough to watch, but not appreciate Khaleesi? I just assumed every male watching the show had a thing for her. Also, to add to this thread, HBO has "supersized" season 3. Still only 10 episdoes, but most episodes will be a little longer which will equate to almost an entire new episodes worth of show.

He's 17 next month...he says something about the way she says "I am the Mother of Dragons"...he doesn't think everyone should be kissing her butt.

Not yet...I'll have to look it up.

Is there any legal way for me to watch this show without having HBO through my cable company? I cut the cable, and this was one of the few shows I actually watched. I wish there is a way I could get HBO shows like Amazon.com does with season pass. I pay 1.89 per episode for Walking Dead, and get new episodes the next day.

That stinks. Guess I will be waiting another year to watch Season 3.

I feel bad doing it illegally but I know that they will get my money through DVD/BluRay sales so it makes me feel a little better (not much).

All the early reviews are saying that this season blows the last two away and firmly establishes GoT as the best show on TV. Can't wait.

If you had a cool enough friend with HBO...you could borrow his/hers HBO GO account. That would work.

If it comes anywhere close to as good as the 3rd book it should be absolutely outstanding. I envy those that haven't actually read the books yet, y'all are in for a wild ride.

I'm struggling with a minor dilemma; I watched seasons 1&2 having never read the books. Since season 2 ended, I read books 1&2 (just finishing 2) and don't know whether I should read 3 and hold off watching, or just watch 3 and read the book after the season ends. Will probably end up watching but either way I can't wait for book/season 3 to get underway. :banned:

I think you'll enjoy watching and then reading. The reading will add a ton of detail and isn't damaged as much by spoilers from the show, whereas the big reveals on the show have a lot more impact if you haven't read, if that makes sense.

Needs more nudity. And more brightly lit battle scenes.

:yes:If not for Breaking Bad season 5A I'd say I haven't been this excited for a new season of a show since Sopranos Season 3 or (Maybe Deadwood Season 3)

:bluestar: for later. Just started watching this show. Watched first 5 episodes of season 1 last night, I'm hooked. Gotta love HBO on Demand.

Book 3 is amazing, and #### really hits the fan. I was watching some of the bonus features on the first couple seasons and the producers were even saying that the 1st 2 seasons were basically just build-up to these next two seasons (since I guess book 3 is being chopped in half).

Just ordered HBO for this. Between a great dinner later, the Walking Dead season finale and Game of Thrones Season premiere, tonight is going to kick some ###.

Cannot wait. Book three lends itself to being an AMAZING season (or two) and this cast and crew has the ability to make this outstanding.

Don't forget to watch Vikings on History Channel. Very solid. I think there is a new Ep. tonight. It appears to be a nine part miniseries I guess. Has a very Game of Throny feel to it.

Except being on History I don't think they can be as graphic as GoT. Good series though and well worth watching.

This may be a dumb question.. but I'm looking at upgrading my Time Warner package from internet only to TV subscription with HBO. TW obviously wouldn't be able to make it out to install the cable box and everything until later this week, but any idea if I can immediately utilize the HBOGo part and catch the premiere live tonight on my laptop?

I'm guessing things don't work that fast and it's not possible.. just really eager to watch this live tonight and I don't know of any online streaming sites or anything of that nature.

My guess is you wouldn't have your account activated until they actually install it, but I would call them and ask because you never know.

Yeah I went ahead and ordered new service but it looks like it won't work until everything is setup. Oh well, at least I'll get to watch it live going forward next week.

Game of Thrones season premiere AND Walking Dead season finale on the same night. ####### awesome.

Watching last year's finale now. We better get a lot more dragons this year.
I don't see how we don't end up with a great deal more. I'm guessing part of the season is DT crossing the narrow sea, but I''m guessing she is going to want to break stuff when she gets there.

Well now..... The pace seems slightly off so far. Seems like the sceens are longer with less jumping around for some reason.

A bit slow as GOT goes, but was still top-notch.

CGI dragons and giant looked good. The unsullied were as expected.

So last season we had Tywin go out of his way to embrace his son. He sends him to kings Landing to be the Hand. Many think he was the only reason they held onto the throne and even his Father has to admit that to a certian extent.

Now he is trash again? I know they have to go by the books and all of that and it's just setting up what looks like a great storyline down the road, but that seemed a bit off.

Not really...Tywin treats him OK when he needs something from him, but has always hated him and never forgiven him for his wife dying giving birth to him...I think that showed through last season.
