I suppose on this show, anything's possible.

But as disappointed as I was by his death, I don't want him to return. Resurrections in fiction and TV shows and movies are almost always lame. It tends to happen a lot, and it destroys the impetus of the death in the first place. That's why Star Trek III was such a terrible movie- because if Spock can come back, what's the ####### point of him dying in the first place?

It's the most popular story in human history though. I know we aren't suppossed to mention books here, but that one sold a lot of copies.

Well, hopefully the writers of the show will continue to channel George R.R. Martin, and not C.S. Lewis.

George has already demonstrated characters can come back to life.

Yeah. We also watched the leader of the Brotherhood without Banners die. And be resurrected. By a Red Priest. And saw the evidence that it had happened multiple times. You know who else saw that? The Red Woman, who was there and witnessed it. Even she was surprised by that power.The same Red Woman who happened to make her way into Castle Black like fifteen minutes before Snow's murder, instead of getting her comeuppance with Stannis.

Aemon told John "Kill the boy. And let the man be born".

Sam told the kid, about John "he always comes back".

Do you think all of this is just coincidence? They're bread crumbs that you're supposed to be smart enough to pick up and follow.

Nevermind the fact that the significance of his secret parentage, that we all think we've figured out, is way too important to just kill off with no payoff.

Don't know if it's been brought up but it occurred to me that Jon's death and potential resurrection would technically free him from his Oath to the Night's Watch.

It's not just Bolton men. As Warden of the North, he'd have some semblance of control over all the other Lords, so in theory he could have called them to fight. In addition, (relatively bookish, but I think they glanced on it in the show) the men of the Lord that Robb beheaded (Karstark) for killing the two Lannister boys became allied with Bolton; to the point where they helped Bolton kill all those other Northerners at the Red Wedding.

Martin has gotten into the bad habit of people coming back or being killed off scene to lead to b.s. speculation too. Went from everyone dying to now too many stiil feel in play and the "deaths" not having the same impact.

Carl drogo. They've also ended episodes with did he die cliffhangers, like bran in the first episode.

They've done it a ton of times with Tyrion, who was sentenced to death twice, knocked out in one war, stabbed in the face in the other, and I'm probably forgetting others. When he drowned and was touched by a stone man, they faded to black and then showed him coughing up water.

Danny walked in to a funeral pyre and came out naked with dragons.

Yeah, well even if he doesn't die from his attack i think the simple fact he was betrayed by his brothers in such a horrible act might cause him to say to hell with his oath.

I wouldn't consider Tyrion to have been 'brought back' a single time up to this point, but that's my opinion. Some narrow escapes on his part where maybe he 'should' have died, but I'm okay with that. I was actually going to use Drogo to support my claim that people on their way to death, die. He came back in a dream sequence or something and that was it.

I don't know.. to me there's a clear difference in how they exited the Sansa/Theon & Hound scenes versus how they exited the Stannis scene, but I'm obviously in the minority on that one.

Gotcha. I remember "an" episode ending with a reveal of Rick/Bran hiding out in a dark nook of the Winterfell castle, must have been later a later episode than when they showed the burnt bodies. My bad.

Doubt that. Wouldn't be in line with the character who wouldn't leave to avenge his father, support his brother, avenge his younger brothers, etc etc etc. Plus all of the NW didn't betray him. Just the faction that had always opposed him.

No. You didn't see the post credit scene of those guys with the horses riding to the sea and then meeting up with a rowing Gendry who said "I got a proposition for you chaps".....Book readers speculate that that's where Gendry gets his gang to make a push for the Iron Throne.

Of course the other side is that this was always a show about the white walkers. they've set up multiple ways for the show to end, people have theories and they've given lots red herrings, so you can say, I know what's going to happen, ned stark is going to save the world. Oops, nope. Maybe rob? OK, how about stannis? Maybe John snow and samwise gamgee? OK, how about just Sam? Or maybe johmbie snow? Well its got to be Danny. Or bran. Or arya. And so it's like a reverse mystery story, where you're pretty sure the world doesn't end in a zombie apocalypse, and you're just figuring out which of the many plot lines get there and how all these pieces work together to foil one character but help another. Not a whodunnit, but whosgonnadoit.
