Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (5 Viewers)

A little too short.
My only complaint, the episode was around 50 minutes.  I want an hour!!!

Loved the Arya/Brienne scene. Arya is truly a badass in her own right. Not only can she change identities, but she can fight with best of them. Bran knew what he was doing when he gave her that dagger. .
When Arya questioned Bran about giving the dagger, I was hoping he would say something like "a girl could use a good dagger."

Sooooooo, did he bend the knee?
I like the way they left that hanging.  Maybe he did, but they are keeping it quiet to protect his standing with his people.

This show is so great balancing spectacle with little moments. The call back to Stannis when Davos corrected Jon from less to fewer was great.
I had to pause the tv because I started choking on my drink when he said that.

More than Tormund would if he walked in on Arya and Brienne fighting?
True, but he's headed to the castle at the wall ... Eastwatch I think.

I also think Jon should have at least punched Theon.

Bran's "chaos is a ladder" to Little Finger, Arya showing off her dancing technique and the battle scene ... simply awesome.

Breaking Bad is pretty universally considered one of the best shows ever. Maybe the best. Thrones is pretty close, and to some, may even exceed it. If you don't like either one of those shows, that's on you, not them.
You have to either be making the biggest straw man argument ever or really not be paying attention to think he doesn't like either of those shows.

However likeable Bronn has been in the past, it was easy to root for his death. I felt cheated there. I figured that Jaime would get captured, but it was the perfect time for Bronn to die.
Yeah, they seemed to be really setting him up to die, especially with he and Jamie #####ing at each other more than usual.  Seemed to be a different edge to it, and I thought Bronn was a goner.

Good episode.  Would have been a great episode if they'd had a meaningful death.  Jaime should have died.   Would have been fitting and also a nice twist on all the fan theories floating around that Jaime is going to kill the Mad Queen Cersei.

Maybe they'll pull the ultimate double twist and have him drown after all of us thinking he got a phony Hollywood escape, but I'm guessing the next time we see him it will be down stream climbing out of the water with no explanation of how Dany and all her forces didn't notice him swim away.

I thought they did an awesome job editing the last few scenes, with Jon's advice to Dany, then Theon rolling up and us finding out through Jon that Dany was gone, then revealing where she was when the next scene cut to the Lannister army and not King's Landing.

The stuff about the gold was weird.  It seemed like they made way too many mentions of "when it arrives" for everything to go as planned with it showing up in KL, but then at the start of the last scene they mentioned that exactly that had happened.  Maybe there are some shenanigans at play and that report wasn't true.

Good show.

Bron or Jamie (or at least one of the Tarlys) should have died in that one, but I imagine they want to get another scene or two in with Tyrion/Bron, Tyrion/Jamie before it all ends. I liked how despite everything, Tyrion was still rooting for his brother not to get killed.

Loved this episode!

Very few complaints...

...however, I believe that Dany took battlefield maneuvering class from the same instructor that taught Rickon how to run from an archer trying to snipe him.  :(

When approaching an armed scorpion, it might be wise to take a less than direct...straight line path into the line of fire...multiple times.

Eh, but what do I know about dragon aerodynamics?

They should have Bronn give that awesome snicker every time someone says "Dickon," like the horses whinnying when somebody says "Frau Blucher."

What now? Is he suppose to hold his breath until the battlefield clears?
I was thinking the same.  Ok, he lives.  Now what?  Euron shows up in his magic boats?  50/50 it's Bronn or Dickon who saves him.  They did have life guarding class in fancy lad school.

  I guess it just comes off that way. Glad you're liking it.
I also love both shows, but see and saw flaws in both. But I guess seeing and commenting on those means I don't like the shows. It's all very confusing, because I love those shows.

Given the depth of that abyss, I was thinking the only way he/they make it out is if the dragon rolls up it's sleeves and plucks them out.

But yeah... unlikely Jamie goes out by drowning

So, who pulls the thorn out of the lions paw (arrow out of the dragon's side) and becomes the second rider?   Gotta be Tyrion, no?

woah, i can't believe this thread. no complaints yet? I feel like it is missing so i'll throw one out there:

What is up with Brienne swinging her big ### Valerian steel full force while sparring with Arya. I don't think she can slow her swing that much and Arya had no armor!!

it's funny because obvioulsy this episode and show are the best of the best, but honestly watching that scene this was what i thought half the time
I thought the same.

Most likely he is taken prisoner. Previews for next week seem to show Dani hangs around for more the 2 minutes.

Has to be Bronn.  Drogon landed by the crossbow thing,it shows him smashing it with his tail, so Bronn was right there.

They seemed to be under control when they only attacked one ship of the masters fleet. It looked like they were working together. She also likes to say she has 3 dragons, not 1 can control and the other 2 do whatever.
3 CGI dragons cost more than 1. This is where HBO is missing the mark with GOT. Shoot the lock off the fricken wallet, you ditched the wolves because 6 CGI wolves was too costly, you ditched the giants because a pack of giants is too costly and now you're doing the same to the dragons. Stupid IMO.

My quibble with the episode is the same as everyone's, somebody should have died. Other than that, loved it.

I agree. They intentionally don't show Jamie though, so really hoping he doesn't pull himself safe and sound out to safety from Dany.
If Euron can flit around like a Rockette doing the Can-Can after the abuse he took in the battle with Yara & the Sand Snakes surely Jamie can ditch 100lbs of armor, hold his breath for 30 minutes and swim to safety. I can absolutely guarantee you Jamie won't die from drowning.

Where is Catelyn Stark in all of this? They have to be setting up for a Stark family reunion soon, no?

You know she got her neck slit at the Red Wedding right?

Kind of a major spoiler if you haven't read those things that don't exist.

Sorry, thought she made an appearance in the TV series. Checking the wiki pages it appears it was only in the books but I could have sworn I saw her with Dondarion and his crew hanging everyone they got a hold of.

They are operating with a budget and have to make choices about what CGI to put in. They've stated before that it is easier to put in the Dragons vs the Wolves. Everyone has preconceptions about how wolves should move and it's difficult to get it to look "right". Imagine the nitpicking that would come from watching a wolf that didn't move "right". We've already heard that Dany is a lousy battle field commander cause she did not use more flanking ranks first and killed some of her Dothraki horde "needlessly". Not to mention how did she ever find them? Nobody had scouts?!

even though she was using a training sword (which is presumably blunt) I still couldn't believe how Brienne was swinging it at Arya's head. Basically Arya makes one quick move with Needle and Brienne is like "Ok, time to throw some haymakers"

And yeah, as much as it would have sucked, Bronn probably should have died last night.

I could have sworn Littlefinger was on the list.  Apparently not.

He's nearly shat himself when talking to Bran.  I could see him trying to kill Bran just to keep his plans on the DL.    What are his plans?  Let everyone die and sit on the throne after all the destruction?

He will be the next addition to the list.

All bran had to do is tell arya what he has seen about little finger and he gets that dagger in the neck

Would of been a good spot to kill off bronn imo

Maybe not in the paper thingy we don't discuss but in the show, she dead.

re: Jamie and Bronn:

im praying for a Tyrion, Jamie and Bronn reunion. Tyrion calling Jaime a Stupid F$&k as he attempted to joust Dany was classic. They have to get those three on screen together again.

So Littlefinger's endgame is just to bang Sansa, right? He seems to be sticking around for way too long with too many people who want to kill him (Jon, Brienne, and soon Arya). He seems blinded by his wierd ### love

I thought it was a fantastic episode.  The fight scene with the Dothraki was awesome (production value a hell of a lot better than the Iron Islands naval battle - although it could have been on a grander scale).  One of their best episodes for me.  The scenes surrounding the dragon (and its aftermath) were great IMO.

A few points:

  • Dany needs to know when to back out of a fight.  That one ballista shot went right past her head.  It was a mop-up operation at that point and she should have just done a skeedaddle.
  • Dany.  Your troops are going to need that food you're burning to a crisp
  • Someone needs to teach the Dothraki to do a better job of cutting off the head (put more emphasis of knocking off the leaders).

Also after the first couple strafing runs, the Dothraki had the battle won. No reason to keep putting herself in danger.

I am guessing, bedding Sansa and having her be his Queen. But who knows, seeing as how he married her off to Ramsay, he might just be seeing her as a rung.

In the moment, I chose Bronn and Jaime over Drogon.

In reflection, I still do.
I was going back and forth the entire time or which side I was rooting for. In the final moment, I sided with Khaleesi and wish Kingslayer was turned to ash there.

He married her off to Ramsey. He is 100% about moving up the ladder. That is all he has ever cared about.
