Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (2 Viewers)

There's a guy I follow on Twitter that just started watching it tonight. I'm trying to explain to him how ridiculous this is, but he is insistent that he will just figure it out as he goes. I can't even imagine.
I jumped in for the last 5 or so episodes last season. I get the feeling I'd feel just as lost if I watched the first 5 episodes, expect that I would know they were first so I'd feel better about not knowing what the #### was going on.
I know what is going on. It's not that hard to follow if you watch it all. I like and respect you, but you are totally screwing yourself by not watching S1.
I was only going to go back if the ones I watched blew me away. They didn't. I'm ok catching it when I can from here.

Do you disagree with my point that the first few episodes have just as much "confusion" a new viewer jumping in now would have? Is the best way to do it read some books then jump in the beginning of the show? I don't have time for that. When I character last season intrigued me enough I wiki'd them though. Still too many me to remember after a year of forgetting about the show.

Anywho, don't want to derail... I'll try to bring it back on topic....

Snow has to get disciplined for that, no? Maybe he becomes the leader of that army and leads them like he wanted the burnt dude to do.

I've never read any of the books. The best thing IMO is just watch the show from the start. I can imagine the show never wowed you as much if you just jumped in this late. There are so many relationships and moments that define the characters that will be lost on you. I definitely do not agree that there is much confusion for a viewer watching the show from the beginning. I've never had any trouble figuring out what is happening beyond the few intended mysteries that all shows have. Crazy to think you are watching this show and have never even seen some of the best characters like King Robert, Kahl Drogo or Ned Stark.

Who was the other girl with young Cersei in the flashback?
Regarding that scene, the witch said Cersei would have 3 children. Didn't she have 2 boys? Or am I forgetting someone?
The daughter. And she also said he would have 20 kids and those 3 don't count. So, who are the 20.......
All of Robert's kids/bastards got rounded up and slaughtered maybe last season or the season before. All of them except Gentry.

It was either season 1 or 2 when the executive order went out to kill Robert's bastards all over kings landing so Joffrey wouldn't have any worries about claiming the throne. The one ******* got away and as far as I remember is still floating around somewhere.

I remember that. I guess the question is was that really all 19 of them then? I don't care either way, but if they want a mcguffin somewhere in the future we might see another one pop up when necessary.

Unless we already know one of them and his identity has been hidden from the world. He already knows nothing anyway.

I for one, am upset that Dany no longer does nude scenes. She covers up with a blanket while we have to stare at man ###? wtf HBO!

"I only watched the last episode of Breaking Bad. I have no idea who that bald guy was or why he killed all those people, but I can only assume that no one who watched the whole series knew that either. Didn't seem like that great of a show to me."

I was thinking about this yesterday. If someone decided they wanted to start watching the show and wanted all the back story that led up to the start of the show...

It would probably take me a good 30 minutes to explain all the main characters, draw maps of westeros, explain Robert's rebellion etc. The fact that someone thinks they can skip all that plus 40 hours of content and just jump right in is absurd

:lmao: Yesterday was the finale!?

My gf only watched the last season of breaking bad and loved it. Holds up on it's own.

Aren't there like 20 more seasons of this? I get the premise. People rise and people fall. These kinds and queens will be slaughtered just like the ones in the first seasons. No reason not to just jump right in.

When someone looked importnat last season I wiki'd them a little. And a friend made me watch some key clips like the all the chickens thing and the dragon lady takeover. She's my favorite.

Well, in fairness to Sebowski, they can do it and it could still be enjoyable. But just far less so. Most of the excitement/intrigue in this series comes from people's behaviors within a specific political and historical context. There isn't nearly as much "action" in every episode as, say, Breaking Bad.

I think its fine jumping in wherever and watching as much or as little as you want, but why not start from the beginning? If you like the show, why not watch all of it and get as much of the story as you can? The first 4 seasons are all available on HBO Go, right?

I've watched this show from the beginning. Love it.

But I am one of the people who started Breaking Bad at season 3. I found some great YouTube "BB Season 1 in 10 minutes" compilations that gave me the info I needed. I'm just not the type to be able to binge watch 20+ hours of a show to catch up.

Hving said that, missing season 1 and 2 of this show are a shame. Great stuff in there. But maybe find a YouTube summary of the seasons so far and you'll be caught up enough and in 1/100th the time.
