Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (3 Viewers)

Overall one of the best episodes ever of GOT, and that's saying something. Just great all the way through.
Where we're all of the Unsullied? It looked like there were only a handful around. There's 8000 in the city.
And the few around didn't seem very good at... Dunno- the one thing they're trained to do.
Yeah. Figured Barristan and Worm could mow through a few dudes in masks with ease.

I thought the opposite. It was over the top how many people they could slaughter considering that whore sent them right into a trap and they were surrounded and out numbered.

Looked about two to one... I'd have put my money on previous seasons' unsullied

Sansa is growing into a very beautiful woman. I am not much into reds at all but she is pretty.

Nathalie Emmanuel is beautiful, hot and sexy. That body is near perfection in my opinion. All the right curves and the right curvatures. Nothing excessive and nothing boring. As I said before, redonkously hot.

Look dude, if you're gonna steal my line, you gotta spell it right. That's twice in this thread alone.

Redonkulous.

Listen dude, the firs time I ever heard this was from my wife and I never read it. Being that it is a made up word, I choose to spell as I wish to spell.

Redonkously as in Nathalie Emmanuel is redonkously hot.

If your wife is gonna steal my line she should teach you how to spell it. ETA- and you're half right, Nathalie Emmanuel is smokin.

Are you really going to fight over a common slang word that's been around for years?

The Unsullied were trained to be soldiers for war not security guards. Their spears weren't made for tight quarters combat/

I don't quite get Cersei's end game here. She doesn't need to marry Loras now anyway, so why does he care if he's out there being all gay? If the whole thing was done just to piss off Margery and/or re-exert control over Tommen, that doesn't make a ton of sense to me. They need the Tyrell's money and army, especially with Jamie about to run the serious risk of pissing off Dorne. I imagine Lord Tyrell will throw a fit once he finds out his son has been imprisoned (although maybe sending Meryn Trent with him was Cersei's way of making sure that doesn't happen)

Maybe I just give her too much credit for being rational.

Pretty sure Sir Barristen is dead. :kicksrock:

Not at all. All in good fun my man.

What's up with Grey Worm the general patrolling the streets like a foot soldier? They got him on latrine duty too?

Is just me or do the Sand Snakes seem unnecessary? The scene looked forced. The rest of the episode was amazing.
They might as well have gotten Larry, Moe and Curly.

Also, The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers called, they said they saw the last scene and want their fight choreography back.
I thought the Jamie Lannister fight was terribly cut. Just chop scene after chop scene.

The director was awful. Looking at his resume, it's no surprise. In Da House the Ali G movie is on his resume.

Was going to post this as well. Bringing spears into tight quarters isn't going to work. Same with Barastan and his ******* sword.

I also agree with a prior poster who said he doesn't think Barastan was killed. I don't think they'd have the Worm saving him from having his throat cut if they wanted him dead. I expect that they both live.

Looking for a way to introduce the characters. I do agree it was the weakest part of the episode but it had a purpose.
Obara's delivery of her speech was pretty weak. A simple yes would have sufficed.
That whole segment was pretty poorly acted. The introduction of the Sand Snakes was rather poorly done IMO.

The Tyrell's are important allies but at the same time she is is trying to seperate them from the Crown in order to ebb Margery's power. Plus, getting at Loras is good ole' fashioned hateful payback towards Margery. You really think she is going to let those slightly vieled insults slid from last episode?

Also, Cersei is smart but she is not as smart as she think she is. She does not have the ability to do the political dance like her father did.

In another of the long list of things which went over my head, can someone tell me why Bronn agreed to go with Jaime. He is pretty good at the whole self-preservation thing (not defending the Imp w/the trial by combat). He's not presented as the type to go into a situation without knowing what that situation was about.

Not only that but they are basically Hopilites. Not a very good fighting style for one on one combat with enemies on all sides and only a handful of you.

In the scene a few episodes back he is with Lolys and he is realizing the castle he expected to get was one he had to wait in line for due to lolys sister being higher in the pecking order. Jamie promised him a better castle, title and woman if he went with him and completed the mission

I believe Barastan is dead. Grey Worm will live and Milesandre will profess her love and find out if they took the "stones and the pillar".

Dany will unleash the Dragons and lots of people are going to pay....oh, and I think she'll finally open the fighting pits.

Barristan IS dead, from the actor's mouth:

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/05/01/ser-barristan-dead-thrones

Warning: This contains a major spoiler about Sunday’s Game of Thrones, “Sons of the Harpy.”

Ser Barristan the Bold has fallen, but the legendary knight went down fighting. Sunday’s Game of Thrones killed off Daenerys’ trusted advisor after he was overwhelmed by a gang of insurgents in Meereen. The scene finally showed Ser Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) in action, but also marked the exit of a kind and noble presence on the series. Ser Barristan upheld the sort of Arthurian-knight values that are very rare in the pragmatic world of Game of Thrones. His demise also represents another departure from George R.R. Martin’s novels, where Ser Barristan is still alive after five books.

EW was fortunate enough to witness McElhinney shoot his final Thrones scene in Belfast last fall. (It’s the one where he tells Daenerys about Rhaegar Targaryen disguising himself as a minstrel.) Afterwards, we chatted in the actor’s trailer while the Northern Ireland rain pattered on the roof. (And yes, this is the actor who was blindly quoted in EW’s recent Thrones cover story about his exit, a tease that generated plenty of online speculation.)

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How are you doing after shooting your last scene on Thrones?

IAN MCELHINNEY: The totality of it didn’t really hit me until once it was over, and then I was surprised how emotional I felt. The guys were lovely; they gave me a really nice gift. I got a little bit tearful. It’s been great fun. The crew has been fantastic. They’re a great gang of people. Never mind their professionalism, they’re nice people. And coming in here and seeing the sets and the costumes and all that kind of thing. There’s so much thought and care and expertise that has gone into making this. It probably won’t really hit me until this time next year when people are gathering for the next [season]. Hopefully I’ll be busy doing something else. I’m not worried too much about that.

How did you find out?

It proves you should probably not read the books. I’ve read the books. So I thought this season I was going to have more to do, and I was really looking forward to that. And then I got my dates from my agent and I thought, ‘That doesn’t tally.’ Because there was no way if they were sticking to the books that I should be in for that number of weeks. It seemed to me they must be writing me out. So I had a word with the line producer and said, “Can you corroborate that they’re writing me out?” Then the [showrunners] rang me and told me, ‘Your time is up in this series.’ So perhaps I took them by surprise that I knew.

What would you say to book-reading fans that are upset that Ser Barristan is no longer with us?

I’m disappointed. But I think you have to accept—as I have accepted—that the demands of TV are different than the demand of book writing. With TV there’s a pressure to create a number of high points. One of the big things about this series—it’s true in the books and even more true in the series—is the surprise element, the shocks. They’ve got to keep that up because people expect that. You can’t predict anything but what you can predict is that there will be surprises.

What was your favorite scene to shoot?

One of my favorite scenes up until this point was the scene where he [tells King Joffrey in season 1] “to hell with this” and storms out. I enjoyed shooting that. I would have liked to work more with people like Lena, for instance. I find it extraordinary I’ve gotten to this stage and never met Peter. The scene where I leave Daenerys and end up in the fight and get killed, it’s a lovely scene and a lovely set up for what happens. It’s very well written, I’m very happy with the way I’ve come to an end.

It sounds like a strong scene to go out on.

He had to be seen fighting. He’s been talked about as the greatest knight that ever was, so he’s got to fight. So it’s great that he does. There’s a lovely contrast with that scene that we did today [on the balcony with Daenerys] and what happens right after. There was a nice scene last week too—where he’s advising her. They were very personal scenes, and it’s nice to have something like that. It’s a memory you’ll take with you.

What the heck is this with people here ripping the fight scenes? WTF do you guys want? And why are people spending so much time complaining about the 5 seconds the Ssnd Snakes are on the screen?

That was one of the best, most entertaining hours of television I've ever seen, from the great script writing and plot elements to the incredible acting and awesome action. And all some of you want to do is pick it apart. Just pathetic.

RE-LAX.

People are a little spoiled by the high standards of this show. Once you set the bar so high, it is hard to hit each and every time in every way and please everyone.

They're soldiers, not cops.
and apparently not very good at fighting.

the worst thing about the show is that it ends after what feels like 5 minutes.

I'm always left thinking- come on! just give me another half hour... please. kind of like crack.

Sure. Timmy is going off the ledge because people are being critical. I am saying that people will be ultra picky because of the high standards of this show. I don't think this episode was the best ever of the series but it was a good one. My personal view is the Sand Snake intro was very weak and fell flat. But other than that- good stuff.

That is a great thing about this show. You are so into everything and it keeps moving forward that you don't feel like you watched 50 odd minutes of a show.

Agree on all fronts. We are spoiled by the insanely high bar this show sets. I personally think the Sand Snakes was more than just fell flat. Thought all of them were cringe-worthy. Just disappointed that as charismatic and as good of actors that Oberyn and his brother are that we might be stuck with those 4 now for our Dorne story line. Almost made me wish for the madcap escapades of Bran or Sam/Gilly.

Yeah, you guys are nitpicking a little bit. IMO, last nights episode was the best of this season so far.
Agree on this season, but peeople are just commenting on a couple things. In other seasons we have seen great fight sequences, and didn't think last night was the best we have seen. Could just be a matter of the director for the show.
