I binge watched the first few seasons a couple of years ago. So awesome. I also did the same with Breaking Bad after that series was done and over. Just a great way to watch these epic shows.

I kinda go both ways on this... On one hand, I binged the first 2-3 seasons of this, caught up, then watched normally. I actually did the same thing with BB - binged the first 2, then went week to to week.
Pros -
You get to watch a lot of great tv
Bad episodes blend better - Arya spending an entire year becoming a faceless man vs a few days in a binge watch for example.
You don't forget details as often - I'm week to week on BCS and can barely remember things from last season without a reminder
Cons -
I think you miss some subtleties by jumping right into the next episode and not letting it breathe.
Lacks anticipation, speculation, and excitement like waiting for a new episode.
Podcasts - this is the big one for me. I telecommute and listen to 3ish hours of podcasts a day sometimes. I have a tv in my home office, but podcasts are easier and I enjoy listening to GOT podcasts (as well as BB when it was on, BCS now, Mad Men, True Detective, etc...). Those are very enjoyable for me and I get more run out of the show. It's basically an extension of a thread like this, without 45 amateur comedians who think it's funny to make dumb comments.

Two seasons is just a money grab....but I don't mind them extending the minutes of each episode and not cutting the budget, i.e. using the money they would for 10 episodes to do 8.cap'n grunge said:

Agreed. I hopped on GOT last Feb and caught up with HBO on Demand just as the final episodes played last summer. I don't know how I would've handled it going a whole year between some of those epic seasons.

I was all over the place. I bought the first two seasons. Then the folks got HBO and I used their HBOGO account to watch the next couple then they cancelled HBO and I missed a couple seasons. Then I moved and got a new cable package that included HBO for 3 months for free and got caught up on what I was behind on and then my free HBO ended about halfway through the last season, so I payed for HBO for another couple months then cancelled it. I'm going to subscribe next month just for GoT and record a bunch of movies while I've got it.
So basically, I binged watched all but the last season, but had big gaps between when I did.

just wrapped season two last night ... more outstanding Khaleesi finale fodder (still amazed at her finish from season one - emerging naked from the pyre w/baby dragons
)man, is she on the greatest character arc here - just amazing - love that girl.
been blown away by every crooked turn and winding path the series has taken me on thus far. having more fun than i oughtta be allowed to
however ...
couple drawbacks to being a new indulger/binger: having to constantly dodge spoilers (the show's fingerprint is ubiquitous, especially on the eve of season seven) - and not being able to "ooooooh" and "aaahhhhh" and drool over my whetted appetitite with this new teaser for the upcoming chapter ... have ascertained that Sansa is featured in said trailer ... i have tried my damndest not to be exposed, so, 'twas purely through osmosis - like i said 'ubiquitous' -
part of me is just itching like a mofo to binge like a maniac, and be all caught up to you lot come the premiere in a few weeks - would only entail squeezing four seasons in, but , man, i do not wanna just devour all of this portended excellence and magic without properly digesting - i prefer to let as much anticipation as possible marinate before watching a follow up episode (usually takes all of a day - i'm discerning, but not very patient).
and, on that note ... i will kick off season three tonight at nine sharp.
(Margorie? Joffrey passed up ####### Sansa for her??!?!? and welcome back, King Slayer!)

There are too many things that happen that are referenced in pop culture so spoilers are pretty much impossible I guess. There are bombshells constantly so enjoy, hopefully you haven't heard about all of them. It's a good show, but not nearly on the same level as GoT.
It's also different in that it has a clear single main character that is the real focus of the show.

Seasons 3-6 for a total 40 episodes and 24 days til the premiere... I think two a night is doable. He should go for it.

Honestly Season 5 kinda sucked except for Hardhome. I mean its still better than 99% of TV, but there was a lot of filler in that season. Sand Snakes, House of Black and White, and Religious Zealots Oh My!

Sansa's words come straight from Ned to Arya when he's explaining the importance of family. At the time Arya was pissed at Sansa and Ned was explaining that no matter what family is what is most important. So I'm not sure Sansa saying it here suggests something bad will happen to Jon. Given Ned's context it could be an indication the Starks will reunite completely and become even stronger.
A few things that jumped out at me with the trailer:
Bran's back in WinterFell when he has the wheelchair. Whether Jon and Sansa are still there is the question but he does get back there.
Few things on this show are better than Jon Snow in battle but Jamie riding through the fire was a pretty impressive shot.
From the looks of first shot of The Hound he looks to be in the North which could mean he teams up with Jon. That may also mean a reunion with Arya assuming she meets up with Jon and Sansa at some point.
Really hope Tyrion gets to go to Casterly Rock. Tywin #### all over him when he wanted to be named the ruler of Casterly Rock back in Season 3 so if he could go there now as part of Dany's victorious army and claim it as his own that would be sweet revenge for him.
Berrick's flaming sword is one of the most bad-### shots this show has ever produced.

are you hip to any type of G.o.T. public viewings, like at a bar/restaurant here in the City?
would think something major might be on tap for the renewal next month ... hopefully replete with any number of Ren Faire refugee wenches decked out in their G.o.T. finest - would love to squire me a Sansa wannabe ... or Cersei ... even Arya.

I'm in season 4 I think. I actually stopped watching it for the Last Kingdom and went back and was so happy I did. Haven't been able to watch anything the last week. As a grill blogger and a social influencer in the grilling/BBQ realm, this is my busy season. As in working the day job from 9-5 and then working at home till I got to bed on the side hustle with a short time out for dinner with the family.

Ha. Nope, never read them but I did read a breakdown of the trailer which quoted Ned saying the same words to Arya. I thought it was during a Season 1 talk they had on the show but maybe it was only in the books. Sorry about that. I still think the point could hold, though. I was just kidding. He might have said it to her in the show. I do remember Ned sitting Arya down to talk about Sansa so it probably did happen. Regardless of where it happened I can't wait to know the context when Sansa delivers the line.
