Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (2 Viewers)

yeah- very well could be.

sounds like I'm not alone in wishing that he was more stark than greyjoy... and he's had a couple moments in that direction... but you're probably right about this.
I think it was the Kingslayer who said that the Greyjoys and everybody from the Iron Islands are untrustworthy and pretty much suck.

He nails a lot of things, including his sister.

Balerion was Aegon's Dragon, one of the oldest dragons ever.  He eventually died of old age.

Other dragons died fighting each other typically.

Something changed over time in the dragon breeding where they stopped growing big.  Towards the end they grew no bigger than cats until they became extinct.
Tyrion explains that dragons don't do well in captivity so he let them out of their neck chains while Danny was away. Then they started to get bigger but the big one is still bigger than the two little ones

I said last week it's going to be very difficult to make Euron into the type of villain Tywin, Joffrey or Ramsay were. There just isn't enough time. All of those others had numerous seasons to build up how we felt about them and those seasons added several layers to the characters. No time to do that with Euron so I'm just hoping he's enjoyable to watch. So far so good there.
Ramsay sucked as a character. Loved rooting against him but he was a cartoon villain with no real depth or dimension. Just a monster with no redeeming qualities. I'm sure there are people like that in real life but he wasn't nearly as interesting as a Joeffry imo.

I really disagree with you there. Fantastic character. Truly vile.

I agree and the endless torture porn was one of the low points of the show

I kinda enjoyed him as a villain, but yeah- is a fully fleshed character... pretty flat

And shades of the Mad King in how Dany is behaving.
Personally I think Dany is following Aegon's path, not Aerys II path.

I think we are starting to see facets of her personality that will come to the forefront any time a person tries to assume power.  But I have not seen anything yet that indicates she is going crazy even in the slightest.

Perhaps that is where the writers want her to end up but I think they are setting things up that she follow Aegon's path more than Aerys path.

Ooooohhhh.... well, one of the snakes would be easy go give up but I do like the one with the whip and the one that showed her boobs to Bronn is make second favorite hottie on the show..... then of course having three vs one...... maybe throw in Yara to even it up?
Yeah, she may be my favorite.  All praise due

As for the trade, Yara is on the table but no, I'm not interested in you 'packaging' Grey Worm.

I think there's enough happening to make us wonder how Dany will turn out. With Jon, we know he's the all-good hero type who wants to do the right thing and will sacrifice himself if necessary to do it. Dany's more complex. We may think we know her and how she will behave but Cersei's comments about her (granted out of context) weren't incorrect. Dany is willing to go the extra mile to get what she wants, no matter what the stakes may be.

Yes Dany has a different tone since she landed but shouldn't she? She was vetted in Mereen and the path that lead her there. Now she's on home turf and needs to step up her game. My guess is the soft side of Dany is gone until you see her on the throne. She has to go full on ##### mode to compete with the other ##### in Kings Landing. I like it and would expect it.

Side note on Euron, dude took some abuse in that battle. If he pops up next week in front of Cersei hopping around like nothing happened I'll be

Also what do we think the point of the reunion with Nymeria was? Was it to show Arya that she needs to head home and join the pack?  Was it to show Arya shouldn't head home because she's no longer a wolf/Stark? Or was it so we weren't surprised when Nymeria and a pack of wolves come in at the last moment to saver her in episode 6?
I think this is where Arya turns back towards King's Landing to finish the job.  She isn't the same, things aren't the same.  Going home to Winterfell won't make everything alright again.

I agree with all of this.  However my general point is that this can all occur with out her going crazy.

Aegon clearly went the extra mile to get what he wanted as well but did not succumb to madness to do so.

I think Dany's "bend the knee" comment was a direct link to Aegon.  Aegon was said to be extremely harsh to his enemies but just as extremely generous to anyone that bent the knee.

Yeah I'm not sure she'll go Full Mad King but I think Benioff and Weiss have planted enough seeds to make us wonder if she could.

Completely agree.  Didn't one of the snakes stab him in the balls??

How the eff are they going to let him live after that, but Khal Drogo died from a scratch?

The characters that I find most interesting on the show are multi-faceted or have gone through some kind of big transition:

Jamie Lannister
The Hound
Tyrion Lannister
Jorah Mormount
Sam Tarley
Sansa Stark
Arya Stark
Danrys Stormborn

It was another character that got stabbed in the balls but he definitely took some pretty serious looking wounds.

Ah, fair enough.  Definitely looked to me like it was Euron during my single watch last night.  May have to rewatch tonight.

Was just going to post the same reply before I seen yours. Like NR said it had to be someone else, I was starting to think Euron was going to die after I thought he took one to the groin. Even if that wasn't him, seems like he took quite a few knife hits. I think. :oldunsure:

Jon Snow died and came back. That's a pretty big transition. :)

No way, loved it. Establishes Euron as a total badass, Samwell is doing great things in Oldtown, and we have a Queen in the North.

Only thing I didn't like was the Nymeria scene (LOVED the Hot Pie scene though). My guess is GRRM had a lot planned for Arya in the Riverlands, possibly even spending time in the pack. But the showrunners have to cut stuff out and the direwolves cost a lot to use in episodes.
I think that Nymeria will make a re-appearance later on.  Perhaps saving Arya (or avenging Arya) down the road.

I understand the costs involved but it makes sense that Ghost and/or Nymeria play a role at some point in all this. The direwolves have been given so much importance since the first episode. I'd be surprised if they didn't play a key role in the story before it ends.

Dont think so.... I think that scene was about Arya. Watching the after comments from the show runners kind of confirmed it. The key to that scene is Arya saying "That isnt you"

Couldn't help but laugh.  Reminded me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail when they attach the Killer Rabbit and then all start shouting "Run Away, Run Away" when the rabbit takes a couple of them out.
Theon jumping off the ship is gonna be gif and Meme worthy for a very long time.

So was it a book thing that they would bring the sand snakes as the prize?

Everyone on the entire internet said they knew that would happen. I didn't see it specifically in the previews.  Was it in a season preview perhaps?

So I'm a bit lost now, nothing new here.

So Euron sails south, grabs the snakes, turns around and back to KL.  Seems an inefficient use of naval resources.  Now Tyrell and friends lay siege to the south of KL while Dany makes it around the other side of the world in half an episode?  CR is way off to the west right?  That's way closer to the north than KL correct?   Sort of over by the freys?  Forgive my lack of Westeros geography for a moment.

So what I'm getting at is what naval force exactly do we think Euron took out?  There wasn't any real plan to send Dany's army by sea anywhere but CL which is the other direction, so who were the sand snakes traveling with and where?  Were they simply alone?  The scenes would imply there was a large navy? But who and for what purpose?  It's clearly not the navy going to CR as they already previewed it as a win for Dany.

The Comic-Con trailer shown this past Friday confirmed it. It showed a scene from next week's episode with Cersei and Euron and you can see who his prisoners are.

So does Sam's father break his vow and join cersei...everyone seems freaked out by the dragons...however the giant cross bow will take one out...

They say the dragon always has three heads....

That's part of the problem. The apparent meat of the story isn't all that interesting. Dany and Jon are 2 of the most bland characters on the show. They are awesome when there is action (Battle of the Bastards, Hardhomme, torching slavers, flying on a dragon, etc) but when they are just leading or talking with others, they tend to be pretty boring. Some of dialogue explaining about Jon Snow to Dany and Dany to Jon Snow almost sounded like they were reading off a wikipedia page summary of events.

I thought it was to show that she isn't who she was anymore......but I thought it was redundant with the Hot Pie scene in which it seems like they were showing us that she isn't who she was anymore.

I thought the greyjoy fleet were going to Dorne to get their army to attack KL. now wihtout that fleet, Dorne can't attack... I think?

I'm calling it now...one of the spin offs will be HOT PIE'S PLACE..... Hot Pie (recently willed the Inn from the dying owner who once enslaved him) serves small folk and Lord alike great pie, bread and gravy while solving their everyday problems that plague them in a post White Walker Westeros.

When the weight of Westeros has got you down

And you want to end your life,

Debts to pay, a dead-end farm,

And a Lord who rapes your wife.

But don't throw in the tow'l,

'Cuz there's a place right down the block...

Where you can drink your misery away...

At Hot Pie's Place.... (Let's all go to Hot Pie's Place...)

There will be ale up in your mug (Let's all go to Hot Pie's Place...)

His bread warms you like a hug.

And happiness is just a Bowl of Brown away...

Happiness is just a Bowl of Brown away...
