Is winter a push or a pull situation?

Does the proximity of the white walkers bring winter to a certain radius from their location, or are they restricted in some way to staying within the boundaries of what is winter?

I think they bring the winter.

There was an observation online (I don't know how true it is) that if you look at the map of Westeros at the beginning of this weeks show, the ocean near EastWatch(the place Jon said the Walkers would be marching towards) is white/frozen after being blue all these seasons.

we discussed this exact thing last week... I thought, given the way we see the cold storm/wind/air surround the white walkers and at their arrival on scene that they are bringing a colder winter into an existing winter.

Unlikely that they bring the winter - its been 1000s of years since anyone has seen a White Walker... but we know Winters have come and gone with some regularity.  If White Walker's caused the winter, it seems someone would have seen them in the last 1000 years.

Unlikely that they bring the winter - its been 1000s of years since anyone has seen a White Walker... but we know Winters have come and gone with some regularity.  If White Walker's caused the winter, it seems someone would have seen them in the last 1000 years.

I think regular winters come and go. A winter like this comes once in a millennium or two and when it does, the Walkers bring extra cold and frost with them. But I also think it already has to be a naturally occurring winter for that to happen.

Right. What I mean is if their presence created the winters they could go south around the wall in the frozen sea anytime they so desired. So it looks like they are simply going to take advantage of the Long Winter and aren't creating it.

I would feel kind of disappointed if they just walked around the wall. That's kind of goofy - couldn't they just do that whenever they wanted then and especially so if the winter comes with them. 

I guess we're still not sure of their motivations, maybe they were waiting for this specific time to strike?

Most of them are pretty friendly. Nobody has ever been mean, just some are a bit more closed off. Jamie and dickless are probably the nicest/most outgoing. Missandai is stunning. Admittedly I'm biased as she's more my preferred type anyhow, but in person she's waaaay above all the other women. It's really weird but I'm terrified of Dinklage. Dude always seems incredibly intense.

Yes. She's very pretty but not really my thing in person. Not that I'd ever have to worry about that scenario.
