Game Thread - Divisionals - New England V Denver (2 Viewers)

Hey Fred....Brady is choking here.

Edit to add: Been a Brady fan since he was at UofM. Pulling for the Pats tonight too.
He's completed 60% of his passes for 236 yards, and successfully driven on the Broncos, although he threw one pick in the endzone that was devastating. And the game's not over yet, not by a long shot. The Denver D has been on the field a long time, and the Pats are crushing the Broncos on time of possession. What's sad is, a great performance by the Pats D is getting lost in the Broncos' 17 points on a questionable pass interference play, a 50 yard field goal that should have been a 55 yarder if the false start were called, and a 100 yard INT return for a TD. Plummer has completed 50% of his passes for 134 yards and an INT, and the Broncos have 17 rushes for 39 yards, but the Pats have let up 17 points.

I'm just watching it on gamecenter. Anyone want to give me a run down of the play?
Bailey interception, two yards deep in the end zone. Runs it back 100 yards, Bailey slows up, Watson catches him, and knocks it out the back of the end zone. The refs rule it down on the 1, and confirm it after replay.

Mike Anderson runs it in for a TD.
Thanks... what a play. Too bad I'm stuck in a damn law library.

BS call! Freaking Touchback!!
That was my first reaction too, but seriously, which replay conclusively reverses that call?
The thing is that the ref didn't say the replay was inconclusive, implying that the call on the field was conclusively shown to be correct. If the ref meant to say that the replay was inconclusive, he should've said that.
But he didn't say it was conclusive, either.Usually, he'll explain what happened if the call stood as well.

This officiating crew is bad. Very bad. But, there wasn't anything on that one.

NE really self-destructing with turnovers... though nice blitz by DEN DB to pressure brady into INT...odd play calling by DEN... MA doesn't have any explosive runs, yet bell only gets 4 carries... maybe skeletor worried about him putting the ball on the ground...

Make sure you see mine...I drew piktures and evarything

I've got the Denver D in my playoff league---I needed that 6 from Bailey.

Great, now the Anderson owner get's the 6.  Thanks to Bailey's dogging it, a 12 point swing.
No offense, but in the regular season, we don't care about your fantasy team.In the playoffs, multiply that by about 1000.
lol True, course the dorks doing a play by play on game threads waste space too, but they still do it.

Now a minimum of 14 of the Broncos' 17 points are tainted, and New England is out of challenges for the refs' seemingly inevitable next missed call.
Tainted?Honestly, snorlax, you're better than that. You can't prove Bailey's fumble one way or another.

Come on...if you're going to blame someone, blame Brady. That should never have been thrown.
I'm not saying that second one was tainted because it was definitely wrong; I'm saying it's tainted because we can't really be sure, and the majority of us thought it went into the end zone.

Funny how Simms says "when you do trick plays they don't always have to go for TDs."

In his book he says Parcells always used to yell him when they'd call a trick play and he'd check off to a WR 5 yards off the LOS. "Simms if I wanted you to throw the ball 5 yards that's not what I'd call!"
Big difference between 5 and 25 yard play. The ball was in the air at least 15 of those yards.
Also, how was that book? I was meaning to get it.
Pretty good. Not amazing, but worth the read.

Common, the ball was in his inside hand and low when it got hit. It was fumbled forward and to the left. Bailey's body went out at the pylon, he knocked it down. There is no way the ball wasn't over the goal-line during the fumble.

What a BIG Difference in the game with that INT. Instead of being down by 3 up by 11 is huge for the Broncos in the 4th Quarter.Have to wonder if all the Patriot Luck has finally ran out. Seems Denver is getting the luck tonight.Bottom line it pays to be at home to get the breaks

Oh, I don't expect you to care---just venting.

He may have been tired, but absolutely no reason for him to be holding the ball like that.
I really don't understand how a NFL CB could get tired going 100 yards. I would hope he was in better shape than that.
Wow. You should see the replay of Watson cutting down Bailey. Pathetic (for BAiley).
That video of Watson running Bailey down should be mandatory pre-game footage for every team.

Fair enough. But you realize, as a Broncos fan, I'm not going to concede that point. :)

Dillon looks *good* tonight.

Bringing up stats over mistakes he made at crucial moments of the game? You sound like a Colts fan.Brady can put up 500 yards and it won't mean #### compared to that INT he just threw there should the Pats lose.

Sure looks that way up to this point

Manning can do the same thing, but when the game is on the line, he chokes. Brady has done that 3 times tonight. Misses a TE and 2 WR that cost them a first down, a TD and then a TD swing. The others are the refs and while they are TERRIBLE tonight, you can't point to them for the blame. We have had the chances repeatedly to put Denver down and out momentum wise and we keep letting them turn it around.

Someone do the math for me. Watson was 40 yards away from the play, and caught Bailey after he ran 100 yards. How far did Watson run?

the skycam was useless there, we needed a camera right on top of the goalline
Agreed.
I know very little about camera setup for football games, but I imagine the fact that the play started at the other end of the field probably killed the Pats shot to get a good replay.
You are correct - very few static cameras - they all roll near the action if they move, especially sideline cams. Competition committee fodder - static goal line cameras - should be mandatory (from both sides of the field).

Yeah, that was incredible.

It's like Washington-Tampa Bay, but with even more questionable calls.

That's not true, Manning's always had terrible stats in the games that people call a choke. It's too bad you don't make an effort to make serious points. You seem like you know how to write, you just don't have much to say.

Just so I'm ready:Big 3rd down coming up here.Big drive coming up here.Big red zone trip here.Big PAT here.Big FG try here.Big 4th down here.Big call here.

I'm most curious about who Simms said that Parcells said were true superstars in the NFL.I remember reading a quote by Simms about how Parcells said players get called superstarts (or some other type label) too often and went on to name the real super star players which amounted to a very short list.

If you use the pathagorean theory, you can figure it out. :D

The Broncos best friend right now is the game clock. The Patriots are moving the ball well and the Broncos can't do anything.

There's still plenty of time for New England to get back in this thing, but between that BS pass interference call, and that touchback that was called out of bounds, it appears the Brady/Belichick magic has come to an end.

Keep dreaming and go buy some beer.

Well, if Watson was at the same yard line as Bailey when he caught it two yards deep...40^2+101^2=c^2

So, 108 yards, doing the math.

Patroit fans having tough time with not getting all the Calls.

:X if that scene of McGinest and Izzo had happened on any other squad, Simms and his crew would be talking about how they need to learn to keep their composure and stay focused. Because it's the Pats we have to hear about how "it's OK, nothing unexpected."
