Game Thread W1 - Minnesota at San Diego (1 Viewer)

Can someone comment on how Tolbert vs Mathews is looking?

Sounds like Tolbert has been leading the charge lately. But the early stat line looked good for Mathews.

Thx

Edit to add: what is the deal with V.Jackson? Virtually nothing - not even targets??

Tolbert with a strong TD run. The play prior was what made it; Tolbert caught a short pass and powered his way over two defenders for the first down.

Mathews has looked very good, mostly on short passes where he's able to get a head of steam before the catch. Just had a nice catch and run on this drive showing good strength and balance breaking a couple tackles. Tolbert just bruised a couple of guys on his TD and has generally been more involved, but they're both in and out with regularity. Looks like straight up RBBC with Tolbert getting the short yardage stuff as expected.

I really thought Mathews was looking stronger early on, with a better burst. But they are sticking with Tolbert for a reason, and he is obviously doing well and is the better play.

freaking Tolbert has both TDs....and my opponent started him while I have Matthews and SJax...this is killing me.

Really nice work by the SD O-line with heavy Vikings pressure. He remained untouched to make a nice pass to Gates.

Good point. They aren't giving him a ton of time, but it's JUST a little bit more than he had in the first half. Just enough to hang in the pocket and being able to find some guys further than 3 yards downfield.

Jered Allen with an interception. He just ran with the receiver and caught it with his hands like it was meant to be thrown to him.

Minnesot OC doing San Diego a favor stalling his own drive. What is the point of bringing Webb into the game there?

The Tolbert to Butts comparison is pretty accurate. From what little I've see, he's a better fit for this team that Mathews.

Someone care to explain why Minn has under 40 yds passing..
All of McNabb's completions have been underneath and the Chargers are swarming to the ball quickly. Everything more than a few yards downfield have been underthrown. He looks really bad.
So the oline has been good or revolving doors?
Better than expected, but I wouldn't call it good.
Yea that was the one thing i was kinda iffy about, their Oline

This is Charger team that should be a solid offensive unit and the Vikes have really played solid defense against them...without their best defensive player in Kevin Williams.

Looked like Luis Castillo down injured on that play. I'm immediately having flashbacks to peterson's 296 game

ETA: He was able to walk off to the sideline, not sure what the injury was

Cason was burned badly on that play. Fortunately, the Vikings QB is McNabb, and the ball was underthrown.
