I'd rather play the NFC Championship Game in Atlanta anyway.

So in those 'rugged road games', the Packers went 2-1, held their opponents to an average of 6.6 pointer per game, and lost on a last second field goal to arguably the best team in the NFC.And out of that stretch of games, you concluded that McCarthy sucks and the Packers are going nowhere?I guess I don't understand the logic here.Eric Stratton said:McCarthy’s coaching resolve will be tested like never before in the coming month, with rugged road games at the New York Jets, Minnesota and Atlanta looming. It’s the kind of brutal schedule that could send the Packers’ playoff hopes plummeting, or elevate the team once again to elite status.Sabertooth said:I saw two playoff caliber teams slug it out. They have different philosophies but lets face it, a challenge here and a bounce there, this game could have gone the other way. They are pretty closely matched.Eric Stratton said:I saw one team that can run the ball and one team that can't.Sabertooth said:Atlanta looks to be the real deal. This game showed that Green Bay is right there with them. Hopefully they play again.
Saying it came down to that in the end.I didn't miss those things at all. In the end, it comes down to making one play to send it to OT.If you read much of anything else, I spoke of the missed tackles, the fumble, and that missed challenge.I have been critical of McCarthy...but not the point of just claiming he will never lead this team to the Super Bowl.I think he has done a pretty solid job considering the injuries and such. He has some issues for sure...but I don't think any that would keep this team just from winning in the postseason. But why just pick the last 42 games? Seems a bit of cherry picking don't you think?Eric Stratton said:Oh sho....So know you want to say the game was decided on ONE special teams play? I take it you missed the goaline fumble, missed tackles, the missed challenge etc.sho nuff said:So, they will never win with McCarthy because of a close game that was basically close and decided as a close game on one special teams play?It was a 7 point game...and McCarthy and Rodgers were huge in getting it tied. His use of the no-huddle and 5 WR sets was a heck of a coaching job to make up for the lack of running in that game.He is not great by any big standard, but I don't think he is the big issue that will keep this team from any playoff success.Haven't you been critical of McCarthy this year but now you think he isn't an issue that will keep the team from playoff success. Sorry but his record in close games is terrible and he is barely a .500 coach over the last 42 games.
Sorry you don't understand my concern about McCarthy's 1-10 record the last 3 years in games decided by 3 points or less. Why do the McCarthy homers have no issue with that? I never said McCarthy sucks. I just don't believe he has what it takes to lead the Packers to a Super Bowl.So in those 'rugged road games', the Packers went 2-1, held their opponents to an average of 6.6 pointer per game, and lost on a last second field goal to arguably the best team in the NFC.And out of that stretch of games, you concluded that McCarthy sucks and the Packers are going nowhere?I guess I don't understand the logic here.Eric Stratton said:McCarthy’s coaching resolve will be tested like never before in the coming month, with rugged road games at the New York Jets, Minnesota and Atlanta looming. I understand the concern.I just don't think its as big of a stat as people think.Yes...it comes down to McCarthy in the end...but is he supposed to get out there and stop that return? Is he supposed to kick for Mason Crosby (who has missed several makeable game winners in that stretch)?Sorry you don't understand my concern about McCarthy's 1-10 record the last 3 years in games decided by 3 points or less. Why do the McCarthy homers have no issue with that? 7-4 >>>>> 4-7ScottyFargo said:In context, pointing out that Atlanta does poorly on the road is pretty meaningless when they're looking at top seed in the division, while Green Bay, at 7-4, has done poorly on the road this year overall, despite their impressive FG performance against the Jets, and wins against the Chilly led Vikings and Wade Philips' Cowboys (though at home it was a huge game), these coaches who had no business coaching in the league this year. The Philly game would have looked a lot different with Vick out there for four quarters. So I think it is pertinent to look at Green Bay's performance on the road, because the sixth seed would have to play any potential playoff games on the road. If for whatever reason you still believe the Packers are the favorite to win the division, you're welcome to your thoughts.sho nuff said:Its funny you have to keep coming in to try and bash this Packer team. How again are they "at best" a WC team?Done so poorly on the road that they beat the Jets?Best hope is an early exit?Hilarious.BTW...id take that early exit to the losing season your Vikings are going to have.ScottyFargo said:And by the same token, the Packers, at best a WC team if they can hold out against the likes of New Orleans, Tampa, and NYG, have done poorly on the road against tough competition this year. (Chicago, Washington, and Atlanta.) Best hope is an early exit from the playoffs in the 1st round. Again.

You questions above are absurd and the fact you don't think his record in close games is important shows you don't know anything about football. It's a huge stat and that stat is having a dramatic impact on the Packers chances to get into the playoffs and also try to get a home playoff game.About what I expect from you...can't answer simple questions.I understand the concern.I just don't think its as big of a stat as people think.Yes...it comes down to McCarthy in the end...but is he supposed to get out there and stop that return? Is he supposed to kick for Mason Crosby (who has missed several makeable game winners in that stretch)?Sorry you don't understand my concern about McCarthy's 1-10 record the last 3 years in games decided by 3 points or less. Why do the McCarthy homers have no issue with that? I think just looking at an overall record in those games and not looking at what happened is overblown. You questions above are absurd and the fact you don't think his record in close games is important shows you don't know anything about football. Also not shocked you come in to chime in...might want to keep reading and see where I explained that comment. But keep up your usual act of not discussing anything, but coming in just to rip on me.sho nuff said:So, they will never win with McCarthy because of a close game that was basically close and decided as a close game on one special teams play?![]()
McCarthy’s coaching resolve will be tested like never before in the coming month, with rugged road games at the New York Jets, Minnesota and Atlanta looming. It’s the kind of brutal schedule that could send the Packers’ playoff hopes plummeting, or elevate the team once again to elite status.

First off, let's get one thing straight. Just because someone doesn't share your view doesn't mean they are a '>insert name here> homer'. Nothing bugs me more than those sweeping generalizations.Second, it's a concern. Sure. But I think it's overblown. If you look at how young this team is, and look at a QB that's still improving, I don't think it's as big a deal as most. Now, if this continues next year, then I'l be officially more concerned. But right now, with the way this team is playing, I don't see how this is such a big deal. Maybe my mind changes over the next five games. We'll see.Third, tell me one person that thought they'd lay what they did on the Jets. Tell me one person that thought they'd smack the Viking down the way they did? Heck, most people expected them to lose ot Atlanta, but there they were with a shot to win it. If you'd have told me they'd be 2-1 throught that stretch, I'd have said 'great'.Sorry you don't understand my concern about McCarthy's 1-10 record the last 3 years in games decided by 3 points or less. Why do the McCarthy homers have no issue with that?
