Game Thread W12 - Pittsburgh V Buffalo (1 Viewer)

The Bills just need to learn how to finish a game. They just don't know how.
This will be the third OT loss for them this year. Unbelievable.
All 3 have been absolute heartbreakers, too. Why can't the Steelers just pick off the first pass of the OT and return it for a TD to put us fans out of our misery? The Bills always have to get so close before giving it away.PS - can someone ####### tackle Ben? He's like a Mack truck back there.

I've been saying for years, while in discussions with friends, that the Bills just have no toughness. My point is always that the Steelers, no matter who's coaching them, who's playing for them, etc....the Steelers are always tougher than the Bills. It's just an example, but today is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The Steelers are just tougher than the Bills.

Steelers had no business winning that game. The kickoff return to start the overtime should have been a TD- it would have been 9 out of 10 times. That throw to Johnson should have been a TD- it would have been 9 out of 10 times. I feel for you guys.

Pittsburgh should have put away the Bills in the first half. Pretty embarrassing performance by each team here.
Meh, a win's a win. The Steelers outplayed the Bills when it counted. It was a hard-fought game, and the Steelers got it done. The Bills didn't.

Wow, lucky to escape with a win. Congrats to the Bills for clamping down in the 2nd half.

Steve johnson must feel bad, he's a real good WR and will get more chances in the future.

Steelers have got to find a way to limit the penalties. 10 for 107?? That's two weeks in a row with double digit penalties and triple digit yardage. Unacceptable.

The funniest part about it is that we're all numb to it by now. It was a heartbreaking loss, sure...but the Bills suffer a number of heartbreaking losses each year....each one funnier than the last. I hate to say this is a "new low", because it really isn't. Like I said earlier....I can't help but just laugh at this team sometimes. They're comically inept, seemingly almost cursed. I'm disappointed, and yeah, it was an embarrassing loss, but strangely enough, I'm pretty much over it already. Just another loss for the sad sack Bills.I gotta stop being so pessimistic...it's just that I haven't seen much to be optimistic about in the last, say, 10 years.

Chin up, sport. Every week, I keep thinking how impressive it is that Buffalo keeps fighting despite their lousy record. A lot of teams would mail it in.Lotta heart with this bunch. It's a credit to Chan.

I'll be back....we always come back. The losses stop stinging as much when they happen as often and as heartbreakingly (?) as they do for the Bills. I give Chan a ton of credit. The team hasn't given up and the fans haven't given up.

How does Wilcotts(sp?) have a job. Consistantly mispronouncing names, calling Mike Wallace Mike Williams multiple times and just being completly wrong on many occasions. He can't say big bens name and he finally, this season, started saying Mendenhalls name correctly. It's just awful.

It could be worse -- you could be a Cowboys fan with high expectations.

I think you're being overly harsh on the Bills here. Does Buffalo have a single player on its roster who would start for the Steelers? A couple maybe, but no more than that. There was a gigantic talent discrepency in this game, yet the Bills essentially won the game twice (Leodis blown TD return, Johnson's drop) and maybe three times (Johnson's deflection-INT at the Pitt goal line). We know that Buffalo can't hang with Pit on talent, so you have to credit this kind of result to toughness or coaching. This team isn't the laughingstock that it was six weeks or so ago. We took Balt, Pit and KC to overtime, all of whom are at least tied for their respective division lead. That's at least a sign of improvement.

I've also gotten to the point that I would be 100% fine with Fitz coming back as our starter next year if our draft position precludes us from getting Luck or Mallet. I wouldn't have said that six weeks ago either.

Disagree with this part. There's no great talent level difference between the Bills and the Steelers, or any NFL team for that matter. The Steelers had third stringers on their offensive line today (and it showed.) I think winning consistently in the NFL is not based on overall talent but on talent at a few key positions, along with coaching, organization, and ability to substitute when the eventual injuries hit.

"ability to substitute" has to do with depth of talent. The Bills have none. That is where the talent difference comes in to play.

Stevie Johnson having a religious crisis on Twitter

Wait...so he's blaming God for not watching the ball all the way in? :lmao:
He would have praised him if he had caught it, seems only fair that God share the blame since he dropped it.

:coffee: Summed up perfectly my thoughts on the Bills and being a fan these days.

The Bills turned me to atheism over a decade ago. Tasker is right, I laugh now. Laughed at the tipped interception, McKelvin tripping over the bocker, fumbling the punt, Johnson dropping the ball. Heart is great, but..........

I was really referring only to the toughness aspect, both on-field and mental. Obviously there's nothing to quantify it, but it's just a sense I get from watching Bills and Steelers games over the last few years. The Steelers just so happened to be my favorite example in recent years of a team that I wish the Bills would play like....and today just happened to be an example of the Steelers having the intestinal fortitude to pull out a game that they should have (I'm not one for moral victories or "should have been" wins, but the Bills really should've won this game) lost. When it came down to it, and they needed to get it done, they got it done. The Bills had their chances, and they couldn't finish.

Ya, it's tough losing in overtime (again), but like the KC game you cannot expect to win when a team just manhandles your defense the entire game. Pittsburgh controlled that game today (just like almost every Bills opponent this year) and didn't blow out Buffalo only because of their self-inflicted mistakes. The Bills are a bad team that has somehow managed to play above their talent level in recent weeks. Don't fool yourself - Buffalo shouldn't have won this game or even had made it to overtime.

The Bills certainly were the worse team in the contest, but they were in position to steal a win numerous times....they couldn't capitalize.

Pitiful performance by the Steelers in the second half. They were absolutely kicking the crap out of the Bills until they started dropping Polamalu & Clark 30 yards downfield while the Fitz was dinking and dunking. It wasn't until Polamalu started creeping up before he was able to make some plays. LeBeau knows more about football then I ever will but it sure doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to take your best player out of most of the game while the opposing QB keeps dropping short passes.

And I understand the offensive line is banged up but WTF is with all the penalties. Kemo is a starter and had at least 4 holding calls. I am VERY concerned about the game this week...
