Game Thread W14 - Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans (1 Viewer)

Anquan Boldin is easily my most disappointing player of 2010 for my team. I really expected great things. He keeps putting up these stinkers and I keep starting him. I will try to trade him this week to the Flacco owner. I doubt I'll get much of a nibble.
He's exceeded my expectations as they were pretty low and he's a top 20 WR right now.

Gruden and Kubiak seem to have a lot in common in their thinking tonight. I wonder which one of them has the better chance of being a head coach in the NFL next year?

I just don't get why coaches challenge plays like this. Doesn't he have someone in the booth watching the replay? The knee landed out of bounds, very clearly. Why waste a timeout?

Because on the sideline behind him and in the crowd they were all calling for the challenge, and he took so long to make up his mind that he was going to spend a timeout anyway.Mamby-pamby coaching, in other words. As is kicking the field goal in that situation, by the way.

You have to remember that he comes from the Andy Reid coaching tree. So it's his destiny to make horrible challenges and never win them.

hmm, didnt we have a thread on this before?

score a td to put you down by 9, 7 min to go

to you go for 1 or 2?

i remember i said 2

Where are all the guys advocating to go for the two point conversion there? This is actually a perfect situation to go for two on the first TD... without doing so, they will kick away, Baltimore will run off some clock, and even if the Ravens drive for a second TD, if their two point conversion fails, they will likely not have enough time left to drive again even if they recover an onsides kick. Alternatively, if they went for it there and failed, they would have known they still needed two scores and may have chosen a different strategy.

I think the Ravens should have gone for it there.

If they make it, the game is over. If they miss it, it's the same as a punt except for about a 35-yard difference, but that's not a huge deal.

you never go for 2 when you are down 9, because if you don't make it, it's now a 2 possession game.
It's a two-possession game whether you miss it now or miss it later. The only difference is that if you miss it now, you know it's a two-possession game. That knowledge may come in handy.

you cant go for it and give them ball at that spot on field. only Bellichek goes for it there

i dont get your knowledge, now they still have a fighting chance of tying game. If the missed 2 before they know they are done.

The difference between driving 55 yards for a TD and driving 90 yards for a TD is trivial compared to the difference between having the ball and not having the ball.

There's a very long thread on this, but why do you think they would miss it earlier, but make it later?
