Game Thread W15 - Skins vs Giants (1 Viewer)

With precious little experience against him, I was amazed at the respectful cushion the Skins were giving Steve Smith.

I think he's a terrific prospect and will be good in this league but wow.

That 10 yard route running and catch was terrific, turned the DB twice and then laid out to snare it in.

Eli needs to relax and I think part of what might help is going with what's comfy for him. It was weird to have the two youngsters and Boss making plays in crunch time. Getting ol reliable Toomer in there(instead of the two youngsters, I don't care if he dropped an easy one. One pass so what) and more plays to free up big Plax. The dumpoffs to Jacobs were working for nearly 10 yards each time...Coughlin didn't do him any favors this week. I know it's the norm around here to beat on Eli but if ya think about it, those weren't good substitutions and play calls at all.

Funny how no matter how good any NFC East team is they always play each other tough. Philly then Washington. NFC East is one of the best divisions like that. We'll see if Chicago can bring it to Green Bay next week, that might be similar.

For those keeping track, Manning leads Collins in incompletions, 18 to 15.
Manning won this one in a landslide, finishing with 34 incompletions to Collins's 17.Mike Sellers was apparently a hurdler in a previous life.Brandon Jacobs is one hell of a volleyball player. Every time a ball approached him through the air he smashed it directly to the ground. Giants still are not in the playoffs, needing to win one of the 2 following games:16 Sun, Dec 23 @ Buffalo 17 Sat, Dec 29 New EnglandIf they play like they did last night, they'll lose both.

The Giants as a whole didn’t look good last night, actually they haven’t looked good for a few weeks now despite winning some of those games.

Eli was bad last night but he did have a lot of drops. Jacobs seemed like he dropped 10 passes last night. I wonder why the coaching staff counts so much on Eli’s arm. The running game is pretty solid and Eli is inconsistant. Last night with the wind whipping around like it was I question why they took 3 shots to the endzone from the 20 early in the 4th. The drive ended up with Tynes missing the FG (which also didn’t make much sense to me because a FG doesn’t help much when you are down by 12). I don't have a problem with taking a shot on 1st down but why not come back on 2nd down with Jacobs and pick up a few yards to make 3rd down more manageble?

1-10-WAS 20 (13:38) (Shotgun) 10-E.Manning pass incomplete deep right to 17-P.Burress.

2-10-WAS 20 (13:28) 10-E.Manning pass incomplete deep right to 17-P.Burress (27-F.Smoot).

3-10-WAS 20 (13:21) (Shotgun) 10-E.Manning pass incomplete short right to 83-S.Moss.

4-10-WAS 20 (13:15) 9-L.Tynes 38 yard field goal is No Good, Wide Left, Center-93-J.Alford, Holder-18-J.Feagles.

People are going to look at the stat line and think that Eli was terrible in this game, but that doesn't tell the real story of this game. Don't get me wrong - Eli wasn't good, but the amount of dropped passes was astounding. Every receiving option - WRs, RBs and TEs - failed miserably in this game and I blame them a lot more than Eli in this particular showing. It was the most pathetic display of receiving I have seen in a long time and maybe ever.

Agreed...some very very very bad drops...cannot pin it all on Eli that game.

Agreed, it was not all Manning's fault. There didn't appear to be any receivers who wanted to catch the ball. In the 4th quarter Manning looked like he felt all alone out there. Cold, and alone.Jacobs is a huge liability in the passing game.
