Game Thread W5 - Kansas City V Indianapolis (1 Viewer)

last time the Colts went without a TD was 2003

announcers just mentioned Addai's shoulder (he's in street clothes, thanks guys)

Manning Way OUT OF SYNC with his guys this half, very frustrated

I hate Matt Cassel with my entire being - he's likely the worst starting QB in the league. KC should be ahead by a fair margin if they had a QB (and a WR1 who could catch)...

BALL GAME

Mike Hart runs it in

something weird there...quick snap 12 on the field for KC...next play the defense still looked confused, he ran right through them

FYI - Addai with the pads off but just caught him gesturing with hands to hart about the TD, laughing it up, so thinking nothing serious

how long do Chiefs fans expect Haley to keep his job?

I get that being the last team to lose will win him some credit with ownership but good gawd he is awful on so many levels - managing player relationships, egomaniac, terrible in game coach, lousy offensive scheme

good defense in K.C., they are going to have a good season between the ST and the playmakers in their defensive backfield

These announcers are really showing their smarts. The FG was 100% the correct call.
I agree with you, but I think we are in the minority. This came up in a UCONN football game where UCONN went for the fg like Haley did, and UCONN fans were livid. I was the only one (no not fan!) who thought it was the right call. You need 2 scores. Doesn't matter which order. I know it was a long fg attempt, but it was the right move.

Honestly guys.... You're out of luck with Haley. Coaches with a 3-1 record don't often get axed.

I mean at this point, people unfamiliar with this situation still think he's a good coach.

I don't know. Its not like it was a chip shot. It was a 51 yarder. Is it easier to get 4 yards or hit a 51 yarder? I don't really know - but it doesn't seem like its a no brainer.
You also have the clock to worry about. Are you just going to kick a FG from 6-7 yards closer if you pick up the first? Kick the FG, give yourself time if you make it. Easy call.

Haley's just fine, IMHO. He took some gambles today which didn't pay off, but neither one bothers me that much. I'd have kicked the FG in the 1Q, but with this offense, I understand trying to take advantage of the situation. The issue is talent - QB, and WR specifically. Get half decent players in those positions, and this team is legit. Weis has been disappointing so far, though - some seriously questionable play calls throughout the season so far. The scheme is fine - they just don't have the QB to execute it.Pioli flat out failed with the Cassel trade. The ego and player relationships complaints are WAY overblown, IMHO.

One of the worst posts I've ever seen.Player relationships -- players LOVE him (very ignorant on your part)Egomaniac -- errrrrrrr, wut?In-game coach -- he's one of the best in-game coaches in the league; he did everything possible to get the W today, but Cassel continually failed himOffensive scheme -- hahahahaha. Laughable. Their scheme is just fine, the QB sucks. His "lousy" scheme is the only reason KC has some of the points it does.

Yeah I agree, I'm okay with Haley. I didn't care for some of the playcalling today but no biggie, it could have very well worked out.

Anyway the QB is the problem with the this team. Cassel is junk, weak arm, not accurate, questionable decision making. If it weren't for some of the stories I've heard about J Russells attitude, I think I would rather have him in there, at least he has a good strong arm. Or yeah, I'd rather have Thigpen back, or Huard, or Green or Grbac. Seriously, this team has QB issues.

Schtick? Has to be...no way you are being serious.Guy has had problems getting along with players for years as an assistant, and especially last year (practically lost the team down the stretch). But you are right, they love him this year because they have won every game until today. Guy has some of the worst people skills of anyone with a HC job.He had a three game stretch last year that could rank as some of the worst clock management ever seen. Did Cassel call for the onside kick that handed Peyton a short field right off the bat? Did the QB decide to take 3 more points off the board after that same QB managed a 14 pay drive all the way down the field?Offensively, they have plenty of talent. Agreed the QB is holding them back. He is one of the worst starting QBs in the league. But there has to be some way to take better advantage of the athleticism of Charles, McCluster, Moeaki, et al.Anyway, appreciate the insight. He is laughing stock league wide, but apparently that is not apparent from inside Arrowhead. He'll probably be around for a few more years based on their start this year, so for now we can agree to disagree.Time will tell who is reading this situation correctly; it always does.

Get outta here with that junk conjecture. There are articles all over the place giving him early coach of the year props. Nowhere have I seen this garbage about him being a "joke around the league." They're one of the best coached, most disciplined teams in the league. They play hard and are always in position. The fug are you talking about?

He almost lost the team that crushed Denver in week 17 with NOTHING to play for, against a Broncos team fighting for their playoff lives? If you'd watched that game, and how the players interacted with Haley, you'd know that was complete, unsubstantiated bull####. I'd love to see any sort of substantiated information showing that he was "losing the team". Whitlock was the primary person spewing that BS, and he's a known ####-stirrer.Haley was definitely in over his head last year. He took on too much responsibility for a rookie HC, primarily due to what I believe was Clark Hunt forcing Chan Gailey on him as OC, and his inexperience at HC. This year is a whole different story, and it's a much better coached team now that he's delegated some responsibility (and has a DC worth a crap). He's staying in much better control of his emotions on the sideline, and the team is playing much better football, as a whole. Both plays you mention are classic boom/bust examples - if either play succeeds, it's a brilliant, ballsy call. If they fail, it's a terrible call. The onsides kick was executed beautifully, and would have been recovered by KC if it weren't for the ball taking a u-turn at 9 yards (which was bizarre). I would have kicked the FG on 4-2, but I don't have a big problem with him going for it. You're on the road against a more talented team - you want to put up a TD early if you have 2 yds to go. If anything, I'd fault Haley for not believing in his defense (which likely influenced the 4-2 decision, and possibly the onsides kick), but who would have realistically thought they'd contain the Colts like they did?As for being a laughing stock, that's such BS - Haley's been repeatedly praised this season. You sound like a Broncos fan, just making #### up...
