Game Thread W7 - Dallas V St.Louis (1 Viewer)

Good thing the Cowboys got another WR with all those draft picks.
That was actually a very good move. They had been trying to get RW for the past two years. RW wasn't brought in to right this sinking ship, he was brought in for the next 5+ years. Why draft a wide receiver and have to invest 3+ years into him to get him to a startable level when you could go out and get a young veteran like RW to replace TO in your offense in the coming years?
Because you need defense.
Seriously, use your brain. The defense has the personnel to excel. The coaching is lacking. What one player could make a difference on the defense?

The Rams have hung 34 points and over 300 yards and there is over 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The defense needs help.ETA: The most the Rams have scored on anyone this year is 19.

But then they'd have all those extra draft picks

There is no guarantee Dallas could have gotten him in the off-season. When you're a free agent, money talks. Philly was vying for his services as would other teams. The pickup was solid for the future.

The point is they overpaid for a WR when they need defense. It's not the smartest of moves IMO. Particularly when RW is going to be a FA at the end of the year.

WHOA....

This is a classless as the Chargers when they'd leave LT2 in their... bad karma, bad injury risk... and why is SJAX still in there?

bad bad bad.

They overpaid for Roy Williams even when trading for the guy.

...and sjax walks off to the locker room with a trainer after walking gingerly to the sideline
amazing, when it finally hits someone (this selfish stat running up) it's a guy i have in a few leagues... wonderful. course, LT2 is getting a year's worth of karma.

That's your opinion. Dallas had a lot of extra picks to play with. If they had drafted a player with all of their picks several of those players would not have even made the team. Detroit used a high 1st on RW, so Dallas giving a 1st is fair since he's a 26-year-old former pro-bowl WR who is just entering his prime. Dallas got a pick back from TN because of the Pacman Jones suspension, and they will get compensatory picks for losing Julius Jones and Jacques Reeves in free agency. Picks are like monoploy money. You can hord them but unless they become something tangible they are worthless. There is no guarantee picks become anything of value in the draft. Row Williams weraing a star on his helmet is tangible and was much needed going into the future. The FUTURE...you guys don't get it.

I guess I should be more upset than I am but.......

I knew Brad Johnson sucked in the preseason. I was right.

I knew the corners were young and were going to get hammered.....I was right.

I knew the offensive line was no where near as good as they were supposed to be.....Romo masks them a little......Johnson showed how bad they really are.

I knew the run defense has been struggling with power backs.....I was right.

What more was there? The offensive line is awful without Romo.

Their defense is sloppy and horribly coached. Would not shock me if Stewart were fired.

I still think the Cowboys can turn this around and still finish with 10 wins and a playoff spot. They were hot early last season and fizzled out maybe this year they can do what the Giants did. Everyone was writing the Giants off at this time last season and they were in just as bad of shape as the Cowboys.

The trade for Roy Williams was still a good trade in my opinion. What was that guy thinking today? He leaves the sorry Lions to come to a winner and gets throttled by the Rams. Must have been a little confusing. Thankfully he has 27 Million in guranteed money now to make himself feel better.

I would normally agree, but this guy obviously wanted to come to Dallas. I read somewhere that Philly stopped bidding for him when he made it known he was set on Dallas. Not only that, he's getting paid 9 mill a year with 20 million guaranteed. That's as much as Moss got to stay in NE so they didnt really get a deal by trading for him instead of waiting for the offseason.

Maybe not a deal but at least we guaranteed getting him.

They gave up 3 picks to fill one position that wasn't that weak to begin with. Doesn't make much sense to me to put another super athletic freak on the wings, already having TO, and give up all those picks and cap space when they have so many other pressing concerns.

I'm sorry, I thought the Cowboys were playing for the Super Bowl THIS year...not next year or the year after. You are right getting Williams to compete for next year and the year after is the correct move.

Orlando Pace was inactive, how did the Rams oline (particularly LT Adam Godlberg) look today?
I was at the game so didn't get to see many replays and all that but I thought the line played very well. Ware got loose a couple of times but it was certainly as good if not better than it has been all year. Run blocking was excellent.

That's funny, everybody and their mother commented how WR was probably the Cowboys weakest position prior to the season. The negative slant the Cowboys get from the masses is old and tiresome. They get applauded and criticized more then every team put together and frankly, it's annoying. I have zero problem with what the Cowboys gave up for RW. The 1st figures to be a late round pick as long as they make the playoffs.
