Game Thread W7 - Houston V Tennessee (1 Viewer)

Worst game in quite some time for the Titans. This one goes on Munchak's shoulders. I wouldn't get rid of the guy or anything extreme mind you. They played horrible. There were new wrinkles and attempts to do some things differently that I appreciated, but for the most part they either failed or he (or Palmer) didn't have the conviction to move forward with them.

Lining the RB out wide was excellent and made total sense to get CJ in space. In what seemed like just a little over a second, they made a 12 yard play. Little while later, Ringer was a weapon for a whole drive and they finally moved it almost the length of the field. Then CJ comes in and the drive all but stalls, instead "out of nowhere" Cook comes in and makes a 4th down TD catch. The best drive of the day made it difficult to be supportive of and if there was something there, they didn't seem to think they found anything they could use as the game carried on.

I'd have been fine with Cook getting more time then. With Ringer getting the lion's share of carries. With CJ lining out wide.

Hawkins...ugh I've hated him in the past for his inability to move forward with the ball, but he looked good for a bit there too. Leave him in! Every other WR stunk except for a long catch by Nate, put Mariani in then!

All these line issues, give the ball to Hall for a play or two. FBs toting the rock sometimes get a line excited a bit, throw them a bone there.

And the LBers...he should have gone with a dime defense like Fisher used to when they were real bad. Today they were worse than bad an impacted the other defenders. Michael Griffin was everywhere today. Aaron? or someone mentioned that Griffin was owned by Foster on that long play. Maybe, probably, but he ran like 3 marathons today and I loved how even still he was the only one to almost catch Foster from behind while the announcers said he didn't have a chance at him. (It wouldn't have been a tackle, but just to be able to catch up and touch him) Griffin is an awesome safety stuck in a conference with Reed and Polamalu. IDK how he ever gets a pro bowl nod with those guys round but somehow he does. No safety has ever had it harder to make a pro bowl-those two are HOFers in my book. Anyhow, the guy doesn't even get to play safety but instead is in this bailout mode trying to save everyone from their mistakes in front of him or just simply tackling the RB because the LB is looking up at the sky wondering if it'll rain tomorrow. Finnegan shut down Mason today. Woohoo! Why didn't he cover Owen Daniels that seemed to have 150 yards receiving despite the 80 or so he had? He's covered Gates before and back then they'd take turns with that beast that no one can truly matchup with. Even when it failed, you could get behind that as a fan-it was a good idea with some of the better defenders trying to implement it. There was nothing today.

Today their D saw a bootleg or roll out for the first time ever. No QB has ever left the pocket before and this was brand new. Kubiak invented it and it was confusing and unstoppable like the wildcat of 2 years ago. This was the new Music City Miracle and it's amazing the Texans even could come up with such a play.
