And there it is! Portis owners rejoice! :pickle:

P.S. Nice celebration
Of course, rejoicing because the 1st round pick on my team (11th overall) finally scored his first TD of the season in week 7 for my (not coincidentally) 0-6 team isn't exactly the celebration I was looking to have. :sadbanana:

Look at it this way redman. At least we know that your pre-season prognostications that Portis would be lifted in Goal To Go situations and Betts or Cartwright would become the designated Goal Line Back, proved to be wrong.

As a Portis owner, all I can say is :pickle: :pickle: :pickle:

This is true.

Unfortunately for you Moss and Brunell owners, if they score a TD again on this drive, I could see them grinding it out with lots of Portis and Betts carries and ending up with 40 mins of possession.

If you thought that, why did you draft him in the 1st round??? That makes no sense. :loco:

I don't think in absolutes - he was a great value there, and I still think so. If you go back and read my posts, I figured that he was probably capable of getting 16-17 rushing TD's in that offense, but that he'd "only" end up with 10-11 because of getting filched down near the goalline. I also figured that he'd end up with around 1700-1800 total yards regardless, so that's VERY solid value at 11. Obviously, the TD projections may prove to be optimisitic given the slow start, but I do think he'll get on track and stay there. Too late for me though.

enough Clinton Portis. Need more Brunell to Moss.

TIA
Your wish is granted.TOUCHDOWN MOSS!!!!
Luckily they got that out of the way. Not sure how much either will be playing in the second half.
 This is a perfect opportunity to get Taylor Jacobs some reps. I think Moss and Brunell are going to play through the 3rd quarter at this rate, and then you'll see Ramsey and Jacobs in there, and probably Betts and Cartwright instead of Portis after that.

Wow, my Eagles IDP's are doing doodoo right now; Patterson and Kearse have done literally zero, and Dawkins has 1 point through a half.

Scary thought: could Brunell end up in the top 5 QB's this year?
I think, barring injury, he has as good of a chance as any QB to be #1 overall.
Hard to say he's got a better shot than McNabb, but with his injury . . .It's not as nutty of a statement as it seems what with both Peyton and Dante's numbers both way down this year. Plus, Brunell gets some nice rushing numbers, 20-30 yards per game, to add to his stats. Could happen I guess.

This is just embarassing for San Fran. I hope Alex Smith was worth it.
They knew they were going to go through growing pains this year. I hope for his sake though that they don't get him killed in the process. Granted Manning may be an exception, but Indy did it right with him. People forget that they put together a stout O-line for him his rookie season to keep the pressure on him to a minimum. He still struggled for the first part of the year but I think that really helped him to develop.

for anyone who isn't actually watching this game, this is as bad an ### whoopin' as I've seen this season, and that includes the Packers Saints game

Having Harrison and drafting Edge was nice too. They are the perfect example of how to develop your team around the rookie QB.

TD Sellers!!!!!
Where does Sellars rank among TE's so far this year? :lmao:
5 receptions, 4 TDs.
Oh, I know his stats. But he's got to be top 20, no? And this is a guy who is basically on the squad because he's a great blocker and special teams player. The throws to him in the red zone are supposed to be surprises - it may be time for teams to actually cover him, but I guess it points out that between Brunell's ability to roll out, the need to account for Portis, and the need to watch Cooley and Moss, there are a lot of things that defenses have to watch out for.

Yup, get a really good offensive line, superstar running backs, superstar wide receiever... that pretty much covers your bases.

Complete and total domination in all aspects of the game - offense, defense, special teams. The type of old-fashioned ###-whoopin you just don't expect to see in the modern NFL.

Don't trivialize what they did though. Harrison was a nice WR, but wasn't regarded as anything great before Manning got there. They did have Faulk there when he was drafted, but by maintaining a good o-line and ensuring a capable running game, they took as much pressure off of him as they could.

I mention that because, the Falcons have done the exact opposite with Michael Vick. He gets a new set of WRs every year and it seemed like they just said "we have Michael Vick we don't need to get anything else on offense"

Good call. I see Atlanta doing with Michael Vick what I saw Philly do with Randall Cunningham, which is to say failing to put quality talent around him.

I think what they've done the last two years has been a step in the right direction. They brought in a oline guru and they have really gotten their running game to be a top notch 1-2-3 punch. They drafted WRs in the first round the last two years instead of just picking up a Dez White and calling that an "improvement". Of course Crumpler has been there for the duration. I have been targetting next year as the big year for Michael Vick to make big strides in the passing game.

Thats shows just how great he must be to have still led that team to so much success.
