Game Thread W9 - Indianapolis V Philadelphia (1 Viewer)

The receiver changed his level. He caught the ball and ducked this should NOT HAVE BEEN CALLED. If you don't understand the fact that the WR caught the ball and is allowed to take these hits ( as explained during the game) and that the WR changed his level causing this.

Eagles fans (most, not all) obviously don't care about human decency.

They cheer for convicted dog killer Michael Vick and they loudly boo while Collie was lying unconscious on the field.

Stay classy, Philly.
Hey now, let's not get crazy here. I would cheer for Osama bin Laden if he could pound out 1200 rushing yards and 14 TD's on the year or get my Dolphins a win.

As questionable of a call as it was....the Philly fans look like asses for booing while Collie looks to be unconscious on the field.
Earning their bad reputation right now. For the most part that reputation is underserved, but that is beyond classless to boo that call when a guy could be paralyzed.
I think once everyone noticed the seriousness, it died down. Hope he is ok.
Exactly, I'm sure the fans eyes were all glued on the jumbotron, and didn't realize how hurt Collie was yet.

The flag was thrown as a response to Collie's prone state in my opinion - it came a few seconds after the hit. That said, the chorus of boos round the stadium for the flag whilst a player is lying clearly unconscious, and none of us know how badly he is hurt, leaves a bad taste.
eagles fans cuold save a sinking ship of drowning kittens and people would still look at them or find someway to say they were negative..
:(
And that reputation was just thrust upon them and is not deserved in any way, right?
Santa deserved an iceball, he made a move reaching into a big sack. Turned out to be a stuffed Snoopy, but from the nosebleeds it looked like an AK.

he did move his leg early on, but when they were wheeling him off you could see his eyes open just staring up into the sky. also i'm pretty sure there was blood dripping from his left eye.

that #### is scary, and i don't really care about the penalty discussion. it actually looked to me like the worst of it came when he head hit the ground.

peyton looked pretty shaken up, too.

Nantz took that way too personally

after hearing Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker on the Jets v Lions call earlier i really don't understand CBS' insistence on Nantz and Simms as the #1 team. they suck the life out of the game.

Looked like helmet to helmet.. When are guys going to learn you can't lead with your helmet..
Not sure what everyone is missing here... helmet to helmet hit by the last defender coming in.
1. It was a shoulder2. He had posession, made two steps and HE lowered his helmet. He is a runner.Bad call.
You're watching the wrong defender. Try again.
2nd was still a shoulder, and Collie was still a runner at that point. Thanks.

Now are you going to bring up Santa Claus booing from 20 years ago, weak. Almost as weak as the refs giving away 7 that drive.
20 years ago? That was 42 years ago. In Dallas they shot the president of the US. Can I bring that up to Cowboy fans everytime they do something bad? Jesus people get new material.

Refs not friendly to the Eagles so far this game but its kind of ridiculous the amount of impact they're having on the game so far.

Weird. I thought it was the injured, motionless receiver being carted off the field.

Doesn't get anymore helmet to helmet than the 2nd defender hitting the back of Collie's skull. Runner or not is irreverent in the point I'm trying to make. I'm actually quite disinterested in the penalty argument and more concerned with the well-being of Collie, but you're blind if you didn't see a helmet hitting Collie's helmet.

I agree with Steve Young who said the QBs are partially responsible for throwing to vulnerable receivers in the middle of the field with 3 guys converging on him. He said it didn't used to happen as much in the past for just this reason

no helmet to helmet at all on that play. saw the replay a half-dozen times and never saw helmet to helmet contact.

It wasn't like it happened right after the play. Collie had been down for a long time by the time that replay went up.

Do people realize that there is helmet-to-helmet contact on >75% of all plays.

Shtick? The guy coming from Collie's backside planted his face mask right into the back of Collie's helmet. Collie changed him plane, and I'm not even really sure the defender meant to do it, but it was plain as day. That's when Collie lost consciousness.

settle down. i'm talking about their entire body of work.they are dull, lifeless and far too serious. Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker made that Jets v Lions game feel like a playoff fight. it's possible to be exciting on the call without going over the top.

Some people seem to think that all helmet to helmet contact is illegal. Apparently some people in this very thread. If they don't get it by now I don't think they ever will.

I understand the people arguing that it shouldn't have been a penalty because Collie lowered his head. I have no idea what you're even talking about. There is zero doubt that it was helmet to helmet. I think everyone on both sides except you can at least agree on that.
