Gary Kubiak Doesn't Like Cut Blocks (1 Viewer)

Faulknerian Idiot Man-Child.
From Peter King today:

I talked to Houston coach Gary Kubiak the other day, and he's angry that blocks such as Green's are legal. "Cutting's a part of football, and should be,'' he told me. "Trent's block was legal, but it shouldn't be. There is no cutting on special-teams plays. There is no cutting on return plays. So what happened here? It was, really, a return. Ted Ginn fumbles, there's a scramble to pick it up, he picks it up, and Travis gets cut. Do we really want that in our game? I called [officiating czar] Mike Pereira and said, 'Do we want that play happening?' It's legal, but it's scary. That's the kind of block that can end a player's career.''
He opposed cut blocks when he was with the Broncos too, right?

Perhaps if you cut/paste the rest of that article that explains why there is a difference between the in-line cut blocks Denver used at the line of scrimmage, and the cut blocking someone in the open field?

Would that be too objective for you?

Green's block was LEGAL. But, theres a reason you can't cut block on Kickoff and Punt returns, and its the same reason blocks like Green's will be made illegal in the future.

Well, you're probably right, since cut blocking someone at the line of scrimmage can't hurt them. I stand corrected.

It's legal to drink and drive too. But if you get in an accident, you kind of got what you deserve.

It's legal to drink and drive type too. But if you get in an accident, you kind of got what you deserve.
Fixed. As far as Kubiak goes, I'm about as receptive to this from him as I would be hearing about complaints of salary cap abuses from the 49'ers.

Seeing as how the Texans have the worst rushing attack in the league, maybe Kubes ought to get his team to employ MORE cut blocking.
