GB looking for RB? (1 Viewer)

I just caught the tail end of Adam Schefter "spinning Total Access around the league" here on Total Access, and he was saying something about GB looking to make some deals? Did anyone catch this? What potential running backs did he mention that might be on their way to Lambeau?

Basically... Green Bay is looking to make some deals. They'd like to add a RB and trade one of the kickers. Speculated Wali Lundy could be a possibility if cut. No other names were mentioned that I remember.

Priest - If they need a kicker and Priest is going to be cut then I suppose its a possibility.

Fason - If he doesn't get picked up.

This might sound like musical chairs, but why not make an offer for Gado who knows the system (since the replacement will have missed all of training camp) and has proven he is pretty decent in the GB scheme?

Unhappy with Jackson, concerned Morency is injured, Herron may not make team.

Toefield? Moore? Lundy?

Could go anywhere, but best case I see them picking up some of the cast offs rather than trade for one

I think a trade is more likely since cut players must go through waivers and may be claimed by another team.

I think they are going to try and deal a kicker for a spare RB to a team that would like to upgrade the PK spot.

Not sure who, though.

They got rid of Gado because he couldn't pick up the offense.

Thanks for the info guys.Apparently Lundy has been cut by Houston, so who knows what'll happen here.
Maybe they can trade Harrell and Brandon Jackson for Michael Turner? Oh that's right, the entire board was sure Turner wasn't worth a 1st and 2nd. GB will be much better off with the Harrell/Jackson combo.

Mewelde Moore?

I'd love to see Mewelde Moore  in a Packer uniform but they won't be cutting him anytime soon. He would do well playing full time. Not too sure about Fason. I think Toefield might fit in tho!!

Ted Thompson is an incompetent noob. Nice job letting Ahman Green go with no back up plan despite all that cap space. At least he got Randy Moss....oh wait.

As a Bears fan, hopefully, TT stays as a GM another 10 years. Things will only get worse once Favre leaves....most likely after this year since the only reason Favre is still playing is to break records. The drama queen is all about himself and so once his personal stats put him ahead of Marino, he will be gone.

For the love of all that is Fantasy Football. I could ONLY hope beyond hope New Orleans would trade Deuce to GB.

But that's just wishful thinking...

So Mewelde Moore would look good to me, as would Maurce Hicks.

Ahman Green is on his last legs. I expect him to have a solid 2007 but after that I highly doubt he'll live up to that huge contract Houston signed him to this offseason. Ted Thompson made the smart move not resigning Ahman Green. That concract will come back and bite the Texans soon enough.

Herron is in no danger of making the team. Wynn may have played himself out of a job last night.

The guy is studying to be a doctor - I would challenge he cannot pick up and NFL offense.

;) He wasn't a fit for that offense and apparently as I predicted he was a fluke. Here is a blub from JS Online when he was traded to Houston.

"With Gado, there were some indications that he was miscast in the zone-blocking system the Packers run, and even he questioned whether he was a better fit for Mike Sherman's power gap scheme. Gado will be joining Sherman, now assistant head coach with the Texans, but he'll be playing in a system similar to what Green Bay runs."

Oh... and here is a blub about Gado not picking up the offense...

"It's hard to figure the motivation for the Packers, especially since Gado was one of the bright spots in a dismal season a year ago. It's not going to help public relations in a place that could use all that it can get right now. But, apparently Gado wasn't picking up Mike McCarthy's zone-blocking scheme quickly enough, and so he was shipped south. Gado's head coach last season, Mike Sherman, is now the offensive line coach in Houston but, oddly enough, Houston runs a zone-blocking scheme, as well. "

Running backs? We don't need no stinkin' running backs!

Go to the run 'n shoot and chuck the ball around, Brett... chuck the ball!!! ;)

Is there any sourced information here beyond this:

Somehow we got from Green Bay may be flogging a PK they'll otherwise cut to some team for a #4RB like Wali Lundy -- to 'the Packers are trying to acquire Julius Jones, McAllister' and etc.Does anyone have any, you know, information?

They drafted a rb in 2nd round.
And traded down to take a RB that most scouts didn't expect to go in the 2nd round. They passed on Chris Henry, Kenny Irons, and Steve Smith(yes I know he isn't a RB) to trade down to take Jackson.
I'd leave Henry out of this argument. That was a solid move passing on him.

None that I've found.

What is Veron Haynes up to in Pittsburgh? Could he be on the block? I know they had some young guys in camp making a case for playing time.

:sadbanana: the Packers are much better off with TT. he has turned that defense around and re-built both lines of scrimmage.. the foundation of any good team. he has also increased the depth to the point where they are cutting guys that should make the team and will probably wind up on other rosters.he's doing what needs to be done post-Favre and that's building the defense to keep them in games while Rodgers learns how to play QB in the NFL.Favre is the farthest thing from a drama queen and is less concerned with records than probably anyone in the league. but nice wild haymakers. :wall:

Jackson is taking his time adjusting. Morency tweaked his knee first day of camp and has yet to make it through a whole practice. Sounded to me like they are looking for a backup. Not like they are looking for a STARTER!!! Can we say overreaction? :sadbanana:

i'd like to see the Packers trade Manuel, Harrell, Morency, Rodgers and one of the kickers for a guy like Larry Johnson. and then they could use the extra money to buy Chad Johnson from the Bengals :sadbanana:

maybe have some leftover for Michael Turner too.

I love this post guy... spoken like a true FF player (or maybe John Madden.)Gave me a huge smile. Made a great day even greater.Plus, I can't think of anything Favre would love more!
