You’ve probably heard his most popular song - from the Alpha Album “If You Don’t Love Me (I’ll Kill Myself)”. 
I’ve been a fan since the first record - he’s Petty-eque. He also did a record with Matthew Sweet and Shawn Mullens as The Thorns which is fantastic.

 
This song only has 81 views on YouTube  :( . These guys were heavily featured on one of the old blogs - power pop overdose maybe? This is from their first album but their best is probably their last, the awesome titled This Affair Never Happened... And Here are Eleven Songs About It.

I’m listening to the Jazz-Rock Fusion playlist. I was cleaning the place and now I’m just lying with it.

Im only vaguely familiar with the genre, it was never my thing, and I’m pretty sure my childhood falls in the zone of when it was it’s most popular. I cheated and added a Jeff Beck tune which does qualify but he’s more associated with his rock chops.

I really enjoyed it and it was great background music for cleaning. It would be hard for me to really get into the genre is it’s a bit repetitive, especially within songs but even from song to song to a certain extent.

Summon the Fire was my favorite song so far (about 2/3 through).

I’ll give the heavyweights of the genre, Jean- Luc Ponty, McLaughlin & Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Miles more of a listen as they’re more accessible and I liked the tracks on the mix.

Ultimately I agree with @Eephus that the fusion loses some of the best elements of what is being fused - but it’s still well done and at the time innovative.

Great, but sad song (that goes without saying for any song written from this perspective from artists who lost their battles with the drugs).

I wanted to make sure I got this song with all three verses. Most only have two of the verses. Anne came through. My favorite version of this song is by The Hargroves, but it is not on Spotify. My grandmother loved this song. Some old ladies sang it at her funeral off tune, and my sister and I had to restrain ourselves from laughing. Maw Maw's spirit I'm sure was grinning.

357.8 or 12 - Herbie Hancock - Metal Beat  (Songs with Beat in it)

This was Hancock's 1984 follow-up to "Rockit" which was a Pop hit the previous year. Sampling keyboards like the Fairlight CMI were a big deal at the time, so Herbie and his collaborators constructed a track around turntable scratching, African drums and a pitch-shifted sample Michael Jackson singing the word "Beat" from "Beat It".

The end result falls somewhere between "Rockit" and the Art of Noise's "Close to the Edit" which also came out about the same time.  It's all very mid-80s but the stuttering mechanical beats aren't really danceable IMO.
