Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill (6 Viewers)

We spend all day getting sober
Just hiding from daylight
Watching TV
We just look a lot better in the blue light
Well, you know I gotta get out
But I'm stuck so tight
Weighed by the chains that keep me...
What is up with all the CC lyrics tonight? FIrst MAC, then P'fork.

I just saw a band -- I think Touché Amoré -- say that one of their songs was almost great.

There's what I know for certain
I know that I'm not wrong
Suffering has no purpose
Round Here is an almost perfect song

This evening Sirius Alt Nation became Emo Screamo Halloweeno and I really wish we'd made that a category

Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part

Emo synthetic:

My head in your lap from the wandering blackout
The touch of your hand, you're the last one to back out
There's nothing to argue, there's only a title
The worst's yet to come well the worst's not invited

I make separate fists while I swallowed the pride
(So let's embrace the twilight, while burning out the limelight)
I am haunting an old roll of telephone wires
Which is not how it was but it's not getting lighter
The weight is immaculate, the depth is inspired

Bonfires burning bright
Pumpkin faces in the night
I remember Halloween
Dead Cats hanging from poles
Little Dead are out in droves
I remember Halloween

No marigolds in the promised land
There's a hole in the ground where they used to grow
Any man left on the Rio Grande
Is the king of the world, as far as I know

Hmmmm...

I was working in the lab, late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab, began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash, he did the monster mash
The monster mash, it was a graveyard smash
He did the mash, it caught on in a flash
He did the mash, he did the monster mash

Steely Dan is a band I like but feel like I have never dug deep enough into. What it is your favorite deeper cut?

Schlock? Or not schlock? That is the terrifying Halloween question...

Is that how the Paul and John reacted when Ringo finally wrote a song of his own?

Or maybe?  I'm trying to get in the holiday spirit, you know.

I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder
I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder

Waiting for an invitation to arrive
Goin' to a party where no one's still alive
Waiting for an invitation to arrive
Goin' to a party where no one's still alive

I was struck by lighting, walkin' down the street
I was hit by something last night in my sleep
It's a dead man's party who could ask for more?
Everybody's comin', leave your body at the door
Leave your body and soul at the door

BANGER ALERT!

Under the arc of a weather stain boards
Ancient goblins, and warlords
Come out the ground, not making a sound
The smell of death is all around
And the night when the cold wind blows
No one cares, nobody knows

I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery
I don't want to live my life again
I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery
I don't want to live my life again

Totally schlock.
I scholcked it in the schlock draft and it opened the great debate of the schlock. Will never forget Bruce Dickinson's differentiation of "Whoomp! (There It Is)" by Tag Team vs. "Whoot, There It Is" by 95 South.

True educations await the open-minded.

:lmao:   I remember the draft but think I missed this part.  Beautiful.

I think Comes Alive skews a lot earlier than this but I don't care, I'm just going to pick one of my absolute favourite live songs. This is a song that is good on album but a barnburner live, which I think fits.

Can't Stop Feeling - Franz Ferdinand - Comes Alive!

I'm watching old Frasier episodes at the cottage because they're a) good and still hold up well (anyone watched Friends lately...) and b) pretty easily digestable for the whole family. The Season One Christmas episode is pretty great.

Has Niles Crane been taken for "supporting" in that draft?  Cuz he seems a slam-dunk great pick.

I didn't watch Friends when it was a thing, so can't imagine how bad it might be now.

I did watch Friends but it really really doesn't hold up IMO. They're pretty much all terrible people. Frasier and Niles can be too but when they are, that's the point.

The carefree days are distant now
I wear my memories like a shroud
I try to speak, but words collapse
Echoing, echoing
Trick or treat
Trick or treat
The bitter and the sweet

Had 'em throwing a party for a bunch of children
While all the while the slime was under the building
So they packed up their group, got a grip, came equipped
Grabbed their proton packs off their back and they split
Found about Vigo, the master of evil
Try to battle my boys?
That's not legal

My daughter was one when Cheers went off the air so she'd never seen it.  So we watched a couple of episodes recently after Kirstie Alley was in the news for being an idiot.

I think I probably enjoyed it more than she did but there were some laughs coming from her end of the couch.  Some characters held up better than others.

He'll wrap you in his arms
Tell you that you've been a good boy
He'll rekindle all the dreams
It took you a lifetime to destroy
He'll reach deep into the hole
Heal your shrinking soul
But there won't be a single thing that you can do

He's a god, he's a man
He's a ghost, he's a guru
They're whispering his name
Through this disappearing land
But hidden in his coat
Is a red right hand

White on white translucent black capes
Back on the rack
Bela Lugosi's dead
The bats have left the bell tower
The victims have been bled
Red velvet lines the black box
Bela Lugosi's dead

Thank god.  I thought I was the only one in this camp.  I want to run them all over with a car.

Oh it's been getting so hard
Living with the things you do to me
My dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see

Oh, I see a man at the back as a matter of fact
His eyes are as red as the sun
And the girl in the corner let no one ignore her
Cause she thinks she's the passionate one

Under the assumption that we can post our round 9 picks at any time today, I'm going to pick now because I have to go to a wedding today.

Fly channel

Round 9. Hey Ya! -- OutKast

Once again we have a channel I can wait on forever (hard rock) and one where I have a clear favorite.
