Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill (4 Viewers)

Nice pick. I was going to draft it for the 70's when it came up, didn't think of it for Yacht rock. EH was my grandma's fav and so I listened to probably all his albums at one point or another. She watched us while my parents worked  and I was in elementary school and played them all the time . He was also the first concert I ever saw- think I was 9 or 10. I always think of her whenever I hear this song.

I listened to about 45 minutes of the XMU mix over the weekend.  From what I heard, there's a punk/roots orientation and the Dawes track wouldn't sound out of place in the Yacht Rock mix.  I hit "A Certain Romance" twice on shuffle which reminded me to listen to more Arctic Monkeys.

The part I listened to was predominantly up tempo so to bring things down,

34.8 or 12 - Sharon Van Etten - Every Time the Sun Comes Up (XMU)

My mom played him a lot.  How was he in concert?

I did cite it as a fusion of indie and yacht rock when I selected it.

Joint- I know very little of Rasta culture or religion. What’s with the emphasis on historical ME peoples?

Rd 35 This Morning by Sly and Robbie and others

Wake up this morning
Look like a curfew
Run up inna roadblock
Pure Babylon deh 'ya

Rd 36 Israelites by Desmond Dekker

Get up in the morning, slaving for bread, sir
So that every mouth can be fed
Poor me Israelites, ah

Quick primer. Dekker is always on my short list.

Augustus Pablo is one of my favorite reggae artists and I will most likely take him if the J gets rolled again.

excellent dub classic this song.
I know it's by way of compliment, but thanks for reminding me. Artist now changed to reflect accuracy of people performing.

YACHT ROCK

36.YM - Peg - Steely Dan

Not a super deep cut, but this is a top yacht rock song for me. De La Soul had a nice sample of it too.

I like listening to full album covers even though they're never as good as the genuine article.  I recently discovered The Darcys' version of Aja.  It lacks the stellar musicianship of the originals but succeeds in emphasizing the weirdness of the band's lyrics.
