Get it On! Rookie Draft Discussion Thread (1 Viewer)

I think that's a terrible trade by Baltimore. Hate to say it, but the Patsies are doing very well, trading out of a first round lacking in first round talent and getting alot next year.

Dear Lord.Ravens = Best draft. Period!F
Agreed.
Ravens are having a great draft so far - Pittsburgh will be looking over their shoulder this year for sure. Having said that, I do like the Steelers pick.Arizona and San Diego are the big Losers so far.

I agree that draft choices are tough to grade at this point but it's fun :thumbup:I look for teams that add impact players that are high up on my own draft board. I love Suggs and Boller therefore they receive a top grade from myself.Teams are going to kick themselves for passing on Suggs. He has one of the quickest first steps I have ever seen. He will be a force in the NFL and will be out to prove all of the naysayers wrong! The Ravens are going to be a very solid team this year.

George Foster/Denver. Not bad. I agree with not taking Harris though. I think he is 12 yrs old or something. Steinbach would have been better.

Really?I think this Boller kid can be a great NFL quarterback. He didn't have a lot of talent around him while at Cal and the changes on a yearly basis made it tough on him. He is an outstanding talent. Get the player you want this year. Next year, who knows what will happen. The Patriots could have really strengthened their "D" this season with the addition of Boss Bailey. Not taking him there is a head scratcher.I like the deal for the Ravens!

I don't think there are any value picks at #19 that meet a Patriot need.

I hope they trade down, get an an extra pick, save some $$$, and pick up McGahee later. Doubt it will happen though.
I quote myself from earlier.Could the pats get McGahee at #41 and a first round pick next year for this year's #19?

Got to tell you - the Denver pick surprised me. Thought they would have gone with White or taken a chance on Weathersby. They sure need an LT, but I htought the defensive needs were greater.

Listening to the local Buffalo radio stations and from what I know of the Bills, they like DE Chris Kelsay and DE/DT Kenny Peterson and if they are both gone, then they might look at WR's Andre Jacob or Kelley Washington, with their second round pick going to CB Rashean Mathis or C Jeff Faine.

I agree.Browns do a little dance, make a little love.... grab harris.Bizarre. When everyone talked about Kwame Harris... they talked about bronco's.Alot of good players are sliding though with all this insanity.Boss bailey, STILL not drafted. As a Packer fan... I'm starting to salivate.F

I agree. I don't think the Balt pick will be that late next year. They still don't have a proven QB.

Surprised me as well. In addition, Foster isn't the type of lineman that the Broncos usually like to use. They tend to favor the smaller, more athletic lineman.

BTW:Ravens get: No. 19 overall pick.Patriots get: Baltimore's second-round pick (No. 41) and the Ravens' No. 1 pick in the 2004 draft.Whoa!
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOI KNEW BB WOULDN'T LET US DOWN!!!!
I guess the Pats did not see as much value with the #19 pick, and are looking for next year.I think this was a good trade.
I agree, good trade for both. Pats will get much more value next year.

The thing about what New England is (might) be doing is stocking up for next year's draft which is supposed to be a stronger draft (maybe because of the QB's and RB's who will (might) enter next year. So they have what two 1st's and two 2nd's already for 2004??

And Dilfer was?No offense, but offense isn't the key to everything. The Bucs, Ravens, and even NE's defense played out of their abilities when they won the Bowl. None of these three QB's or offenses were much to wright home about.

Redman did pretty well for them last season, and I think that with that defense and Jamal running the ball they'll be in playoff contention this season. They'd look better with a top QB right now, but don't forget that they won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer a few years ago.

The fact that the Steelers took a safety rather than a RB or QB = good news for Amos Zeroue and Tommy Maddox owners.

George Foster is going to hit a lot of home runs in that thin air..... oh sorry wrong Foster. Cleveland goes LB'er, "the Boss" man, considering Cleveland has the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.....

Arizona and San Diego are the big Losers so far.
I agree that the Chargers didn't get very much in return for their #15. But how do you guys figure they did worse than the Chiefs?Chargers trade 15 for 30 and 62.Chiefs trade 16 for 27, 92, and 200.

I think the Ravens could win the division (they will compete for it at least).I think McGahee will be taken in the first (by the Raiders if he lasts to the final pick). However if he is still there when the Patriots come up in round two and they take him, I will give the trade huge props.I just think the team could have really helped their Super Bowl chances this season with the addition of Bailey. They are not a team that has to worry about next year as much as filling a hole or two on the way to a possible Super Bowl berth. They are one of the frontrunners for sure.

look for Joseph to the Brownies
they've taken def lineman, and WR's every year. they need to address that terrible offensive line or the depleted linebacker corps. i could see bailey, but NOT another def lineman! steinbach, or harris is a need!

So are Bears Fans!

doesnt excite me. sounds like multiple picks from the pats means complete indecision and grabbing questionable talent. they should have moved up and gotten some talent. they were supposed to be big players in this draft, all that has happened is they have been played. if they dont somehow get mcgahee i am totally BUMMED with this draft. i need something exciting.

Pats can still get talent at those two 2nd round picks. This drafts has been  I guess the Pats are playing for next year though

Boss bailey, STILL not drafted. As a Packer fan... I'm starting to salivate.
Nah, with Diggs and possibly Rodgers on the outside I am much more interested in the fact that Henderson is still on the board and that there aren't many teams needing an inside prescence (other than the Chiefs). Lookin' good for an E.J., Packers pick.

I like the Browns pick of Jeff Faine. He is an impact center and he will help William Green become a better player. Nice pick.

What's the story with George Foster? As a Portis owner, I'm happy they went with a OL, but I know nothing about this guy. Any UGA homers around here?

McGahee is waiting around for nothing. Because I've been soooo right about all of this  , I will go out on a limb and say that McGahee won't be picked before the 45th selection.
