Giants Name Ex-Chiefs Coach Giunta Secondary Coach
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Jan. 18) - The New York Giants hired Peter Giunta as secondary coach Wednesday, a day after firing Ron Milus.
Giunta spent the last five seasons as Chiefs defensive backs coach. Before that, he was Rams defensive coordinator for four seasons, including the team's Super Bowl victory in 2000.
He also coached the New York Jets defensive backfield from 1995-96.
Milus was fired Tuesday with a year remaining on his contract.
The Giants' secondary ranked near the bottom of the league in 2005 in yards passing and is facing an uncertain future with their starting cornerbacks. Will Allen is likely to test the free-agent market and Will Peterson is attempting to return from a serious back injury that forced him to miss most of last season.
