Giovani Bernard was added to the Bengals' injury report Thursday with a hamstring issue, getting in a limited session.
The injury received very little attention amongst the local media, while OC Jay Gruden said Thursday he envisioned a 50-50 timeshare in his backfield "sooner than later." In other words, the "injury" is likely the most minor of tweaks. Double-check Bernard's status on Friday, but for now there's no reason to worry about his Sunday status. Sep 19 - 6:46 PM
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis made it clear Gio Bernard (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday and Friday "as a precaution."
Bernard looked just fine going through drills in Friday's workout, per the eye of beat writer Joe Reedy. Bernard is coming off a two-touchdown game, but has yet to hit double-digit touches in either of the first two weeks. We like Bernard as a flex play and nothing more in Sunday's tilt with the Packers.
why do you think hes way overrated? not flaming just asking.Despite all the Gio hype threads, I still think he's Gio is waaaay overrated, and Lawfirm will continue to dominate the touches going forward. Now the Gio cult will come in and flame me for saying that. But it's true.
Looks small, and although he's quick, doesn't have that extra gear to outrun people. Just from the one game the other night, so I don't have a full youtube highlight reel. But he looks like a complementary back. People like to call Lawfirm a plodder, but he does everything well. He's average, upgradeable even. That said, still there's only so much a Gio Bernard can do to take the job for himself.why do you think hes way overrated? not flaming just asking.Despite all the Gio hype threads, I still think he's Gio is waaaay overrated, and Lawfirm will continue to dominate the touches going forward. Giovani does have that extra gear, which is what made him such a dangerous return man in college. He also has great vision in finding holes to burst through, he is patient in finding those holes, he is great at running around the edges or running straight ahead, and he is great at receiving out of the backfield. He is improving on his blocking skills, but overall I'd say he does a lot of things well.Looks small, and although he's quick, doesn't have that extra gear to outrun people. The only thing that will stop this guy is an injury or really bad coaching like DeAngelo Williams has dealt with in Carolina the last 4 years.Looks small, and although he's quick, doesn't have that extra gear to outrun people. I dont think I agree with that. He's shown the ability when he's had the chance and Jay Gruden just said (yesterday or today?) that this is going to be a 50-50 split. If theyre given equal reps then Gio could explode in that offense.Despite all the Gio hype threads, I still think he's Gio is waaaay overrated, and Lawfirm will continue to dominate the touches going forward. I personally wouldn't roster BJGE unless my RB situation was dire. If you start him, you are basically praying for a TD.Does anyone here own both of them? I just traded for Lawyer this week. Can't beat 'em, have 'em join ya.
I play in a deep league so playing them both seems like a good idea (one flex position). Does anyone here employ that type of strategy and does it work? The PIT game would've been money.
