Girlfriend Email scammed - 10K - action steps? (1 Viewer)

If this has not already been suggested.. sign out of ALL google accounts and then change the password. Changing the password alone might not boot the criminals out of the account.
Anyone know of where/who to contact at Google to make sure that everything is signed out?

I signed on with her password from my work computer to test the 2 step verification (it worked), but she keeps having an issue where she will get booted from her gmail & have to log in again (also happened to me when I was logged in as her).

I'm was thinking/hoping it might be a result of the hackers still trying to access with the old password, but if anyone has some knowledge about the aftermath of having your email hacked, that would be helpful.
Had my gmail hacked a couple of years ago. I simply signed out of all accounts and changed the password. I think this is all you have to do. I am sure you have already looked and tried, but there has to be plenty of information about this online. G'luck!

Is Gmail easily hacked or would you need to click on a scan or spam email in the first place to trigger it?

Also, it looks like the same thing happened to her and the sister...very similar emails standing in between the two coordinating the scam. Like Andy D said, "How often do you look at a mans email" or something like that.

I have to  at all the "how could you/she be so stupid" posters in this thread. The scammers are really much trickier than you could ever imagine. I've caught dozens of scams before they occurred w/in my business as we deal with a LOT of vendors and payments where we never actually talk to a live person. All it took was one to slip thru and we were out some $s

This happens to plenty of smart people. It may one day happen to you. And while you are sitting there trying to figure out what to do next I hope you get a lot more help and a lot fewer wannabe detectives and dooshes. Seriously some of you should pull your heads out already.

Note to anyone who hasn't added 2 step verification to your Gmail - take a moment & do it now.
Everyone should do this for Facebook, twitter, their email providers, and any other provider (banking) that offers 2 factor auth. Its quite critical.
