Give Me a Movie/TV Show/Song/Band and I Will Review (1 Viewer)

Pulp Fiction

The League

It's Always Sunny

Appetite for Destruction
1. Awesome. QT's best movie by leaps and bounds (can't really stand any of the movies he did after).

2. Never really watched The League although I know I should.

3. Embarrassed to admit that I've probably only seen 3-4 of the first episodes. Pretty funny but I somehow got off track. I intend to binge watch as much as possible one of these days.

4. Not a GnR fan. I remember that when it first came out it seemed somewhat fresh. But after a buddy of mine played it to death I started to hate it. I would consider GnR about a half step up from hair metal...which is horrible.

Boy Meets World

Who's the Boss

Growing Pains
I'm too old to objectively judge most of these. Didn't watch them since they were kids shows.

Who's the Boss was really bad and Judith Light or whatever wasn't milfy enough to make it interesting.

Growing Pains sucked..I think. When it was on I was busy getting drunk and bird dogging chicks with low self esteem and a taste for wine coolers. And now that Kirk Cameron is a well known lunatic and his lunacy was part of the backstage stories about this show, makes it even less appealing.
This observation alone is gold. I watched the show for a blossoming Alyssa Milano, but you are exactly right, the mom could have been so much hotter.

Oh and Growing Pains introduced us to Chelsea Noble, which is one thing it had going for it. So what if she ended up marrying Kirk Cameron.

Rolling Stones

Beck

Narcos

Mad Max Fury Road
1. Awesome. I like the Beatles better but that really isn't a snipe at the stones. Not a big fan of almost all of the stuff they did after Tattoo You, however.

2. See: Radiohead. Just can't get into him.

3. Have not seen Narcos

4. Have not seen Fury Road.

Okay, so you didn't like:

Top Gun

Top Secret

Real Genius

To test out a theory, what about:

Willow

tombstone

Heat

The Goonies

The Prestige

The Shins
1. Goonies came out when I was in HS. I was obviously not the target audience. I don't care for it. It's one of those movies that thrives and survives thanks to nostalgia.

2. Have not seen it.

3. I don't know enough about them to comment. I know that I should, however.

Heathers

Clerks

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Animal House

Blazing Saddles
1. Great first/Indy movie. But I can't say it holds up that well. Maybe some memorable lines but that's about it. And everything else Smith did after is pretty weak. Mallrats was OK I guess.2. FBDO is a classic. Can't even imagine how many times I've seen it. Not to mention it stars my personal friend, Ben Stein.

3. Same as FBDO but without Ben Stein.

4. Another favorite. Funny as hell.

ETA: missed Heathers. I enjoyed it the first time I saw it but I will, probably live if I don't see it again.

Let's go Keanu

Bill and Ted

Point Break

Speed

Matrix

John Wick
All crap.

B&T isn't funny.

I have a special hatred for PB that has to do with the novel that loosely inspired it.

Speed is dumb even for an action movie.

Matrix was a huge waste of cool visual effects.

Never seen John Wick

You being all level headed and explaining yourself logically is weird. I mean, I think I kind of like it, but I'm not sure I want to. Like a finger up the butt.

Iron Maiden

Soundgarden

Talking Heads

The Who

Green Day
1. Not a metal fan.

2. Probably the least dynamic and interesting of the SubPop bands. Most of their songs just sort of sit there.

3. Some great stuff on the first 4 LPs (also some clunkers). They pretty much crapped the bed with Speaking in Tongues and beyond IMO. Byrne is one of those mad geniuses where one day he's churning out some pretty brilliant stuff and then the next day he's wearing a giant suit in the name of "art".

4. I think the early Who, like 1964-66, is probably the best of the British Invasion...even better than the Stones in that same timeframe. Great combo or pop, R&B, and proto-hard Rock.

I'm not a big fan of Tommy really. I think Townshend overextended himself there.

"Who's Next" has 3 or 4 great songs.

"Quadrophenia" isn't so hot (fun movie, though)

"By the Numbers" and "Who Are You?" don't really do much for me either.

"Face Dances" isn't very popular with hardcore fans but has some solid tunes.

After that there really isn't anything notable except maybe "Athena".

5. Green Day catches a lot of flack because of the "punk" tag. Fans of 70s and 80s punk take it really personal for some reason. I'd call them "power pop punk" I suppose. I see them as 3 guys that started off trying to be somewhat hardcore but grew out of it.

Once you get over the whole stupid "not real punk!" crap, you should be able to see they made some solid music.

I can't say that I dig every album/song but there's some great stuff sprinkled here and there.

IMO their best album is "Warning". It's a lot more mature than their previous stuff. "American Idiot" is a little too bloated for sure but some nice tracks either way.

80's edition:

Pet Shop Boys

The Golden Girls

The Breakfast Club
1. West End Girls isn't the worst electro-pop song to come out of the mid 80s but that's about it. The rest of their stuff is crap.

2. I remember GG being somewhat funny for its time. But it doesn't hold up well. The same 5-6 jokes over and over.

3. I think I already did BC.

Godfather

Goodfellas

Godfather 2

Casino

Scarface

Rudy
1,2,3,4: all great

Scarface? Very fun to watch but not really the classic it is made out to be. I would put it in the "good but not great" spot. It doesn't help that you've got all kinds of dopes that think Tony M is some sort of hero.

Rudy: pretty sure it's been (almost) proven that 90% of it didn't happen. I think if it had simply been a work of fiction it would have worked better. I mean it's a cool, somewhat inspirational, story but it's heavy handed and Disneyish (I'm looking at you, "Remember the Titans").

Blair Witch Project

Heavy Metal Parking Lot

Throw Mama From the Train
1. I saw this in the theater before hearing all the hype/BS. Even though I'm not a big fan of this genre I liked it. Not spectacular but it worked.

2. I loved HMPL (I don't think I saw it until about 5 years ago) because it reminded me of all the halftarded hessians I was forced to grow up around. I gigantic treasure trove of semi-unintentional humor.

3. Pretty damn funny.

Brings back big memories. One of my favorite docs ever - have a few old friends from my hometown that never left that stage in life.
