Bengals team needs and most recent top-five picks in last year's draft:

http://walterfootball.com/offseason2015cin.php

  • Defensive Tackle: Elsewhere on the defensive line, Cincinnati has to find an upgrade over the anemic Domata Peko, who was a major liability in 2014. An early-round selection could be used on a defensive tackle.
  • Quarterback: Andy Dalton is too limited to lead the Bengals deep into the playoffs. This has been evident for quite some time, but the Bengals don't have the resources to find an upgrade. What they can do is spend a third- or fourth-round pick on a developmental signal-caller.
  • Center: Russell Bodine did not play well as the team's starting center last year, but he was a fourth-round rookie, so I'm sure he'll get another chance. Some competition wouldn't hurt though.
http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/bengals

1. CB Darqueze Dennard

2. RB Jeremy Hill

3. DE Will Clarke

4. C Russell Bodine

5. QB A.J. McCarron

CIN definitely not taking a RB here, Hill/Bernard has to be one of the most ideal young, talented, complementary 1-2 RB punches across the NFL landscape.

Whitworth is getting up there in years, but they already added Phillips in the first round, arguably the best pure LT prospect in the class of '15 (Peat and Clemmings, MAYBE Collins also in the conversation, Collins may be viewed as a better RT/guard, like Scherff, the consensus highest graded OL overall in the draft). All the centers after Erving are still available, and some of them will be later in the third and maybe even fourth round, not sure if any left are clearly better and warrant a second round pick?

I'd seriously consider taking Petty to groom at QB (unless some are believers in McCarron, I'm not, as far as a potential future starter, seems like career backup at best, and imo Petty has more upside, lot of arm talent, but needs refining across the board coming out of the same Briles' scheme and funky passing attack that RG3 did). Not all through his fault, but Dalton hasn't been able to get over the first round hump in the playoffs.

They lost Gresham, and the best TE Maxx Williams* might be a BPA in some ways, they seem to like to run two TE sets a lot, it is a good formation to run out of, and still threaten the pass. Only, not sure how good a blocker he is, might be too similar in skill set to Eifert, better receiver than blocker? Just a thought.

On D, CIN loves DL, though they get Michael Johnson back (and hilariously, a bonus third round comp pick) after a lucrative year in sunny TB. Their talented former UFA LB has been hurt a lot lately. McKinney still on the board.

The Bengals seem to focus on DL and DB with high picks on that side of the ball (the Eagles when Reid was the HC come immediately to mind as being similar, as far as clearly discernible positional importance hierarchy/prioritization draft patterns that roar off the depth chart when you cross-check for pedigree), but not sure if a safety is merited here BPA-wise, and they got CB Dennard in the first round last year, an outstanding prospect.

After reviewing this, my suggestion would be best in class TE Williams or top 3-5 QB Petty on offense (I haven't scouted the centers that much, though, so another possibility - and they already took one OL), and LB McKinney on defense.

* Fairly rare, I think, to not have at least one TE go in the first round, when I have looked into the past several decades.

Walter Football is correct in noting that Peko was a major liability on their D-Line. Their are still a couple of very good DTs and one that would fit.

DT Carl Davis of Iowa, 6'5 320 lbs, graded out well.

Per TE they took Tyler Eifert in the first round two years ago and he is coming back healthy so I don't think TE is a priority need.

Maybe we can get some more input.

I'm amenable to a DT. But they have multiple liabilities for a playoff caliber roster, and Dalton's long term viability may be the hinkiest of all. Drafting a first round caliber TE in the second round two years after taking one in the first might not be that different from taking Eifert in the first three years after taking Gresham in the first?

They took Eifert because Gresham never lived up to his potential as a move TE. He was never a big play TE.

A starting caliber DT when they need one or a backup move TE?

Outside of that maybe a MLB. They signed Hawk but he's pretty old. Malugua is limited.

I dunno Petty's value.

Detroit is up.

Their needs and last year's top-five draft picks. Looks like all positions o the O-Line are highest priorities they need to fill.

http://walterfootball.com/offseason2015det.php

Right Tackle: Detroit absolutely has to fix its pass protection, and its biggest problem is at right tackle. LaAdrian Waddle, who is just a marginal talent, was banged up often last year. An early pick can be used to remedy this need.

Guard: The guard position will also need to be addressed up front. Rob Sims struggled at some points during the year, but managed to improve at the end of the season. He's a free agent, however.

Center: Dominic Raiola is an impending free agent, and third-round rookie Travis Swanson did not look very good in a few starts. If Raiola leaves or retires, some competition will be needed for Swanson.
http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/lions

1. TE Eric Ebron

2. LB Kyle Van Noy

3. C Travis Swanson

4. DB Nevin Lawson

5. DE Larry Webster

OT Donovan Smith is available, I think. Maybe best remaining at his position. There is also the OT from Texas A&M, but he is a rehabbing from a torn ACL. Could be a great pick for 2016, but seemingly unlikely to help much this season.

Yeah, I didn't realize how bad the situation was on their offensive line. Looks like they really need immediate impact so Ogbuehi doesn't seem to be the guy but he is dropping and should go soon.

I like Havenstien. He is a RT and if the Lions run a power blocking scheme he'd be a great fit but I don't know their line scheme. Hroniss would be a great fit on a more mobile type of O-Line scheme.

Ogbuehi, Cedric OT 6'5" 306 Texas A&M

Havenstein, Rob OT 6'7" 321 Wisconsin

Grasu, Hroniss C 6'3" 297 Oregon

Andy pulled a great name for the D-Line. I love Bennett. Hopefully a Lions fan can chime in and make the pick.

Michael Bennett, DT - OSU???
I thought of DT, losing serial Pro Bowler Suh AND fellow high first rounder Fairley. They manufactured a replacement in Ngata, but he is 31 and the 5 X All-Pro ('8-'12, also Pro Bowl as recently as '13) may be slowing down, and not as explosive and disruptive as he was even a few years ago.But DET seems to perpetually be in need of OL upgrades and reinforcements, so that could be the way to go?

Ogbuehi received a first round grade from the advisory committee after the '13 season, came back to add LT to his resume, some scouts think he is more athletic than top 10 overall A&M LT predecessors Joeckel and Matthews and he has nearly 36" arms (like the telescoping arms dude in Master of the Flying Guillotine). I think he could be worth the wait for a potential blue chip prospect LT of the future, one of the most important positions in the importance hierarchy (after QB, comparable to DE). Versatility on the bonus plan, he has played everywhere on the OL except for center. He can pave the way for new starting RB Todd Gurley in the future! :)

DET Cedric Ogbuehi, OT Texas A&M (big time coup and Brinks job-type heist in the back half of the second if he returns to form)

ARI (DT Malcom Brown) and PIT (CB Marcus Peters) next up, first round picks shown.

Cards top needs and last year's top-five picks:

http://walterfootball.com/offseason2015arz.php

Two Guards: What are the Cardinals going to do about Jonathan Cooper? He has been a monumental bust. It's not like the players ahead of him are any good. In fact, both guards struggled immensely this past season. Upgrades are needed; an early-round choice would suffice. Signed Mike Iupati

Cornerback: Arizona made a great signing by bringing in Antonio Cromartie on a 1-year "prove it" deal, but now it has to worry about either re-signing him or finding another starting corner.

Nose Tackle: Dan Williams is another free agent Arizona will have to retain. He's a major reason why the team has been so stout against the run.
http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/lions

1. DB Deone Bucannon

2. TE Troy Nicklas

3. DE Kareem Martin

4. WR John Brown

5. QB Logan Thomas

NFC West

Arizona Cardinals
Top 5 needs: ILB, OLB, DT, RB, CB
No. of selections: 8
Draft picks: Round 1 (24), Round 2 (55), Round 3 (86), Round 4 (123), Round 5 (159), Round 6 (198), Round 7 (241), Round 7 (256)
Analysis: Free-agent addition Mike Iupati will help the offensive line with run blocking, but the Cardinals could look to bolster their running game by adding a running back, too. Arizona generated pressure through blitz packages in 2014, but it needs to find every-down edge rushers to win more one-on-one matchups. Inside linebacker, cornerback and a young defensive lineman are all needs the Cardinals could look to fill.
Rotoworld:

Coach Bruce Arians said the Cardinals would "like to have a bigger back."

The Cardinals asked Andre Ellington to be their workhorse last season, a role his 199-pound frame was ill-equipped to handle. His yards per carry dropped off a cliff with a heavier workload, which strongly suggests Ellington is more suited for a change of pace role. The Cardinals have shown interest in Adrian Peterson but it's more likely they address running back in the draft.

The pick here for the Cardinals could easily be RB Jay Ajayi.

Edit: Ooops. I see that Ajayi is long gone to the Jags. Orchard should be the pick!

But not in this draft. He is already gone.

Question for those smarter then I.

What is the cost to trade from the 20's to say 16/17ish. Any historical trades to set the price. What say you???

What about TE Maxx Williams or CB Ronald Darby for Arizona?
I doubt they would draft Williams when they invested a pretty high pick in Niklas last season. The also seem to prefer 3WR sets.

Not saying they wont add a TE at some point in the draft, I just don't think they will pick one here.

Tevin Coleman is available and would give them a explosive RB (expecting him to recover from toe injury he played through) to pair with Ellington. I think that would improve their offense.

The first pick they got Malcom Brown. Of they did go defense again, Hunter could be an option at OLB. Perhaps some other guys like Hau'oli Jamora?

I like the Coleman pick at this point for the Cardinals assuming they didn't get Peterson or something crazy already.

Lets go with Coleman here, I've sided with Andy several times recently, just to get a range of alternatives reflected in the mix.

Agree about TE, even though I think it is highly likely he goes earlier, doesn't seem like the pick here.

Tevin Coleman, RB Indiana

PIT next, than CAR.

I like Coleman more than most but he is not exactly a big back like Arizona apparently wants. He is 7 pounds heavier than Ellington.

Well I suppose the Cardinals could try to wait until their next pick to address the position. But they won't get as talented a RB as Coleman if they do.

Duke Johnson is the only remaining RB who I think is at a similar level of explosiveness, obviously he is smaller than Coleman is.

They could target TJ Yeldon or David Johnson I suppose if size is an important feature to compliment Ellington in their priorities, or perhaps some RB later on but they won't be getting any other RB with the upside to be a great player as Coleman.

I was wondering about size, too, but in this case, I wanted to allow Biabreakable to make the call, so we don't have just one or two voices predominating. Perhaps Coleman ends up being the better RB, and it will look like a brilliant pick in the future. Jeremy Hill may not be an ideal example, because he is bigger than Gio Bernard, but just to illustrate that we are constantly surprised, not too many gave Hill much of a chance to surpass Bernard so quickly, if at all. Many firmly believed, if healthy, Hill would be Bernard's caddy for the foreseeable future.

If they are looking for a bigger back, surely Yeldon is the guy?
Sure if size matters to you more than explosiveness.

If the Cardinals were to take Yeldon while Coleman was still there I think that would not be a very good move.

I think the Steelers would take Maxx Williams here. There are a few OLB prospects on the board that would intrigue (Orchard, Golden, Mauldin, Kikaha, etc) but after re-signing Harrison it's gone from a desperate need to only a very serious need and I know they want an heir apparent to Heath Miller. Unlike the LBs, Williams is a fringe first round talent and I believe he represents BPA here at a position they're definitely looking to bolster.

I like it EG. If Bob makes that the official pick then Carolina would be up next so here is their remaining team needs and the top-five picks they made in last year's draft.

http://walterfootball.com/offseason2015car.php

Running Back: Jonathan Stewart shockingly ran well to close out the year. Stewart, however, has been unreliable over the years, so the Panthers should spend a mid-round pick on another back, especially with DeAngelo Williams on his way out.

Weakside Linebacker: Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis are studs, but Carolina could stand to find a third linebacker to complement the two Pro Bowlers.

Defensive End: Greg Hardy is as good as gone, leaving just Charles Johnson as a reliable, exterior pass-rusher. The Panthers drafted Kony Ealy in the second round last spring, but he has yet to show anything. Some competition could be acquired.

http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/panthers
1. WR Kelvin Benjamin
2. DE Kony Ealy
3. OG Trai Turner
4. DB Tre Boston
5. DB Bene Benwikere

This was going to be my recommendation, I've mentioned him a few times earlier. Heath Miller is a warrior and huge part of the offense (while WRs like Burress, Holmes, Wallace, Sanders come and go, Ward retires, Sweed busts, etc.), but already has a decade of NFL service and turns 33 this season.

PIT Maxx Williams, TE Minnesota

CArolina. Phillip Dorsett Miami

I think they could use a field stretcher on that team and this kid can fly and might even help on returns. Much more than just a speedster also. Would give Benjamin and Olsen more room to work and give Cam another target.

That's the right pick, I think. I was going to recommend Agholor.

Edit: That's who I think the Ravens should take. Nelson Agholor

Remaining picks (including SEA's first)

58) BAL
59) DEN
60) DAL
61) IND

62) GB
63) SEA
64) NE

BAL needs a WR, after losing Torrey Smith, and Steve Smith turning 36 before the season starts. WR run.

Nelson Agholor, WR USC

DEN OTC, DAL on deck.

We may have undervalued the RBs according to this tweet by Sig.

In the first round of this mock we collectively took the top-two RBs and so far in the second round three have gone off the board.

Their are a handful of others left and Baltimore might be interested.

Sigmund Bloom @SigmundBloom · Apr 1

Could see 10 RBs go in first 2 days RT @DOrlandoAJC Early buzz is that @GamecockFB RB Mike Davis ran an official 4.45/4.38 on his first 40.

Agholor or Funchess (as a hybrid WR / TE) would be good choices. Not sure if I am buying the Ravens owner claiming that TE is a bigger draft priority over WR

Really? The Ravens owner said that? I don't know enough about him to say he's putting out disinformation. He might be telling the truth and I've seen many mocks putting DGB to them in the 1st round so maybe they think he could be used as a move-TE. He's big enough and he'd be matchup nightmare. I dunno. He might have told the truth, where did you hear that?

I have picked for Buffalo and the Cardinals already in the second round. So not sure if I can pick again or not.

Denver mainly needs offensive and defensive linemen now. Players I would suggest are

DE Mario Edwards Florida State

OT/OG Jamil Douglas Arizona State
OT Donovan Smith Penn State
G Arie Kouandjio Alabama

I think there are quite a few other players who would fit their offensive line, but these three may be the best to target right now.

The do also need MLB but I could see waiting until the 4th round to address that. I think LB may be a bit over represented so far.

Bob I agree that RB and CB seem under represented.

Rotoworld:

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti mentioned TE as a major need on Wednesday.
"We absolutely need a tight end. We don't absolutely need a WR," Bisciotti said. It is that time of year to question everything you read. The team's top receiving target is an aging Steve Smith, and they lack a vertical threat in an offense that relies on one. Bisciotti did add the team is more likely to address tight end in the third and fourth-rounds.

I guess Crockett Gilmore is not in the Raven's plans at TE if they are prioritizing the position over WR. Not sure what to make of the owners comments there.

I like Crocket. He had a huge Senior Bowl or whatever game and he got on a lot of people's radar. I like him but he lacks deep speed. He's not a big play move-TE.

I think they used to use Anquan Boldin in that role of a move-TE to attack the middle and sidelines and when he was healthy they had Dennis Petta to go deep. They only that combo for one season, um their Super Bowl season so maybe Bisciotti was telling the truth and they want a guy who can be their Jimmy Graham.

Lets give Donovan Smith to DEN.

DEN will want to protect Manning in what may be his last hurrah, the OL was weakened by the departure of Orlando Franklin, and I have seen Smith as a potential pick for a team needing OL for a while now in the second round. They haven't taken one already in the first round, so that fits.

DEN - Donovan Smith, OT Penn St.

* Down to the last five picks of this TWO ROUND mock, DAL (Melvin Gordon) up, IND (Cam Erving) on deck. First round pick shown.

Funchess might have been the guy over Agholour because of this. Funchess to me iis a TE. I would not mind him for the Packers at there pick. Of course McKinney is still available also

I've already made two this round, but would Mario Edwards make sense for the Cowboys? I mostly just want to put him there because of his father (I guess Cowboys could use DL help too).

They took Lawrence last year, but have lost Ware and Spencer in successive years. At 280+ lbs., he can play strong side DE as a bookend to Lawrence. Seems like a good pick (icing on the cake he is drafted to the same team his father was). They took offense with Gordon in the first. Maybe McKinney would get a look, but there is some question of whether he can cover at the NFL level and, if not, will therefore be relegated to a two down defender role, making him less valuable. So to keep things rolling:

DAL - Mario Edwards, DE Florida St.

IND is up
