Glazier just reported Martz to fly out to San Fran tomorrow... (1 Viewer)

It'll be interesting to see what he thinks of Alex Smith.

Some talented young QBs like him develop bad habits and are just....alot more trouble than they seem now that they have the NFL experience. Alex could become Tim Couch. Hopefully not, hopefully he can take him under his wing and get him goin' but 2008 is definitely a big year in Alex's career to start producing

Frank Gore's value =
Yeah, because Marshall Faulk never produced much when Martz called the plays in St. Louis. Oh wait...
Faulk >> GoreWarner/Green >>>>> SmithHolt, Bruce, Hakim >>>>> Jackson, Battle, et alI'll grant you that Vernon Davis >>> Rams TE's, but of course TE is a position that Martz has never heard of so . . . gllllllll

All of those things are true, but this myth that Martz ignores his featured RB is just that, a myth. He never had a stud in Detroit to rely on (don't give me this Kevin Jones nonsense). Marshall Faulk was a stud, and Martz relied on him big time. Frank Gore is a stud. If Martz becomes the SF OC, Gore will catch 70-80 balls, and while there will be games where he doesn't get the ball that much in the running game, as Martz does have games where he ignores the run too much, Gore will still run for probably 1,200 yards (assuming he stays healthy). And his TDs will go up.

I seem to recall a Super Bowl against NE where Faulk got less than 20 carries and only 4 touches. If you think you can rely upon Martz to do anything except pass, then good luck to you as the owner of his RB. Your player is first on his list to be forgotten/foregone every game when he falls madly in love once again with the forward pass.

For Gore owners, the hope here is that Cameron ends up with this job...

I know I never thought I'd say that about Cam, but...

That was only one game. And in their previous game, the NFC title win over Philly, Faulk carried the ball 31 times. And besides, 21 touches (what he had in the Super Bowl vs. NE) a game averages out to 336 touches a season. From 1999-2003, Faulk averaged 22.6 touches per game. That is an average of 361 touches over a 16-game season. I think most people would take from a featured back. Say Gore gets 300 carries and 61 catches. All he has to do is average 4.0 YPC to get 1,200 yards, and imagine what he can do with those 61 receptions.

Yes, Martz loves to pass, but remember that a lot of those passes go to the RB, and Gore is a very good pass catcher (why he wasn't utilized more in the passing game in '07 is a mystery). Don't get me wrong...Martz's offense is not good for a QB in the long run, as his QBs always take too many hits, but give him a stud RB, and he WILL find a way to get him lots of touches.

Leveraging for the acquisition of Cam Cameron.

Cameron will be out in San Fran next week - and he will be their next guy and a great fit.
