GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (20 Viewers)

My Today in History was about Condoleezza Rice becoming Sec of State in 2005.

Kid walks into class and sees Condi's name on the board.  He says "Condoleezza Rice?  Was he Mexican or Chinese"?

What do you watch on locals and the non local stations? Most shows are available on Kodi, even local network shows. You'll have issues finding news though I think. So the Smart TV handles the paid streaming (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc) and Kodi the rest. TBH I think Kodi can handle all of it, even movies in the theaters now are available.
I watch high-brow stuff on locals that is vitally important to my well-being and place in this world.*  On the non-locals I watch Alone on the History Channel, and I will not forgo my opportunity to watch those people slowly descend into madness.

*The Bachelor, Survivor, The Amazing Race, football when in season

Since they are all broadcast shows I'd think you can find them fairly easily using Kodi.

I need info on how to be able to watch the teevee without having cable/satellite.  Is there a Cliff's Notes version of the 120-page thread on this topic?
Buy the following:

Tivo that is ota compatible

Antenna (mohu leaf or equivalent)

Now you've got over the air television, a dvr, and a good user interface, and you're all done. You can spend more at the outset to not pay monthly or you can spend less at the outset and pay monthly.
Or you can pay little upfront and the rest is free albeit a little more work is involved in finding the shows you want.

I guess it's relevant that I expect only to need this on a short-term basis, so maybe avoiding all the upfront fees (like the OTA compatible TiVo) would be preferable.  Hadn't really thought about that.

OK, I'm sure this is boring to most people.  I appreciate all the help. :thanks:

It's not a goal; it's just the way it is that these won't be available options.
cable won't be an available option?

not busting balls here- I'm happy you're asking all these questions. the wife and I are considering dumping cable- more for cost savings. but every time I read all of the stuff that people gave you as answers, my head goes :loco:

Get a Mohu Leaf for like $50 for an indoor antenna. It can travel with you. Otherwise, use the WiFi and your accounts already in-use for the rest. Your only cost outlay is whatever your internet service goes for. Might have to give some stuff up, but I found I don't miss anything I can't get all that much

bruh, it's like asking a computer guy how to code something

just nod your head and smile

Had my first big-boy presentation this evening, in the boardroom of the downtown trauma center. By all accounts, it was a smashing success. I was peppered with questions, but fielded them cleanly. Not bad for someone who first opened PowerPoint a week ago.* Gonna pour myself a wee dram of that Balvenie DoubleWood I keep for special occasions.

*My manager prettied up the slides a little yesterday.

Holy crap, I'm laughing uncontrollably at this video.  It's two college friends that record each other saying "F YOU" to the other from various locations and momentous occasions.  NOT SAFE FOR WORK because of the F-word, but holy crap, this is funny to me.  YMMV.

Shuke, I feel like we squandered a golden opportunity.
:lmao:  you're on.

Also, was that @Thorn and @Disco Stu?
