GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (24 Viewers)

1.  You're a built in designated driver in wine country?  Sign me up!

2.  How did you get the little hat on the "a" in Chateau Rothschild?

3.  Speaking of hats, I just learned this week that Bugles advertise themselves on their very packages as "America's Favorite Finger Hats."
1. I literally am.  But you have to put up with critiquing every vineyard’s architecture and label. “Oh look, it’s a Château and their label is a sepia line drawing of such.”

2. Skills

3. One of my favorite Ahrncity (remember him?) quotes was watching a UFC fight where they kept pimping Corn Nuts as “the official corn snack of the UFC”.  Arncity “SUCK IT, BUGLES”

Not sure what your kink is but...

The wife swears by their Alberino even though she is red person.

lol

“complex nose of ripe orange, fresh cut grass, vanilla and a hint of cotton candy. It tastes of lemon, orange and kumquat, with hints of whipping cream, baking spices and gingerbread. Well balanced, thebody is nice and light, a very refreshing wine.”

And , of course, their Cab

“This soft, round, approachable Cabernet Sauvignon is made to drink now. It has wonderful aromas of strawberry-rhubarb pie, dried cherries and black pepper. It’s a virtual riot of berries on the palate, includingolallieberry, blueberry, blackberry, and rich strawberry preserves. The time this wine spent in oak barrels is evident in the creamy texture, nice acid balance, and present but softer tannins. A small amout of Grenache adds a little acidity and light fruitness to this otherwise big and dark wine.”

DRINK IT NOW. DRINK THAT BOTTLE OF MARIE CALENDARS PIES, DAMMIT.

All kidding aside...it is the best looking winery in CA.

Gorgeous space.  Like that Mondrian vibe on the windows.

I'm a big fan of Albarino, which should have a tilde on the "n". :(   That Cab description doesn't sound much like a typical Cab.  Oh wait, there I go being wine-ish.  Sorry.

There's a "repurposed wood" joke in here somewhere.

I also like Shale Oak because I met a really cool lizard there.  He was chilling on the artificial brook/creek thing.

We chatted about lizard stuff.  He wants to branch out into artisan grubs.
:lmao:  Ask him if he'd like to set up a wine dinner at Mr krista's restaurant.  I'm in the midst of doing that right now.

I liked your part about getting to know the winery's dog or cat...or lizard, I guess.  Why do they always have one?  But it's a good diversion.

I never understand this description when talking about food or drink. Who in the world finds fresh cut grass an appealing food/drink smell or taste?

"And over here we have this lovely vintage with hints of mulch and a pungent soil finish"

Condolences, GM
I don't think I have seen it actually posted in here and I know a lot of us already know from the Facebooks. GM's mom died.

I would usually be very hesitant to post something like this, but GBGM posted a few days ago how his mom was at the end and sharing his feelings on that. If he wants to talk some more, here is a reach out.

Its got to be especially horrible to lose a parent at such a young age. And I have no idea how you'll break it to her 62 grandchildren.

Sad to hear of it, GM.  Lost my mom in 2010 when she decided she didn't have the fight left in her anymore as well.   Its a pretty bad beat, brother. I wouldn't wish dealing with that on someone I really didn't like very much, let alone my favorite "Corndog Eatin' PantsTM wearing" internet gadabout.

Pouring myself a scotch in her honor (Who'm I kidding?  I'm pouring myself a scotch because it's delicious...and i may be a mild alcoholic.  I'm still very sorry though.)
