Hit the walleye run again after work today with the 17 yo. As soon as the sun went down it was on. Caught 9, six were legals (between 15 and 18”) and one was a fat 20”.

Kept two for dinner tomorrow. Beautiful night. Stars everywhere.
Lake Michigan tributary? Maybe that's a little far. Menomonee river is hot right now, people pulling out some monsters. Farther north the steelhead are running pretty good near Marquette and the Marquette harbors are seeing good salmon and brown numbers. Fisherman's paradise in this part of the world right now.

I haven't fished in years, but my old man does and for everything. My freezer is about to bust at the seams. Good problem to have.

I got home from my vacation late last night. The hot water was hot, but the cold water was also hot. Can't shower without scalding myself. Also, my toilet doubles as an amazingly efficient porcelain radiator. Neat!

Out of all the faucets? How is this even possible?

Most likely he has two pipes in close proximity and his hot water heater is set too high. While he was gone, the water heated very high and they are too close to the cold water pipes, heating the water in them.

The water heater only heats the water in the tank

Unless he has a recirculating pump.

yes but the pipes emanating for the WH can heat the water in other pipes that are closeby. Especially of you leave for a few days and the heat in the pipes continues to rise.

If he has a recirculating pump, I'm flummoxed

That would only make the water sitting in the pipes warm. Would be fine after running a few minutes.

I was told the water was shut off to fix a problem, but only the hot water was turned back on. Seems like the toilet should only be hooked up to the cold water, but as I have explained before, the Romans had better plumbing than I do.

Just re-upped for 15 months. Such a loser.

Man oh man....

After 5ish days in Vegas (only two nights where I consumed booze), I was home for a day (did laundry, caught up on work, etc.) and then packed and left for Santa Barbara this past Thursday morning. Every year, my college puts on a "all years" reunion, and this time around, since my fraternity is recolonizing at UCSB, about 45 alumni descended upon Santa Barbara for a weekend of debauchery. I got the green light from my doctor to resume consumption of alcohol, albeit he cautioned me to "take it easy". Well, a weekend with fraternity brothers in Santa Barbara pretty much equaled larger consumption. :oldunsure:

Thursday, Friday and Saturday we kicked things off around noon and went pretty much straight through with beers and the occasional mixed drink until 1am or later. Saturday was the big day, when the active members of the house (about 50 of them including pledges) hosted us at their house and were so kind as to invite a handful of their "regular party girls". Boat races and keg stands were done as well as some new "dice" game that is all the rage at many college campuses. It was a page out of my college days. I was actually the YOUNGEST of the alumni that showed up for the weekend. So yeah, it was mainly a bunch of 55ish-year olds partying with the 21-year olds (and their ladyfriends).

My 21-year old brothers were actively trying to find me one of their ladyfriends to "occupy my time" over the weekend. That was fun.

Hopefully you didn’t tell them about your real or pseudo pancreatitis. Can’t imagine college girls find that sexy.

I kept that off the menu of discussion items, and thankfully the plaque psoriasis went away too. :bag:

My wife went to a trade show and made an appointment to have someone come and talk about cleaning our gutters. I told her this was a bad idea because they are going to try and sell us on a completely new system.

Well they did exactly that. After a half hour of talking up their superior system he threw out a quote of .... $18.5K...

for gutters.

And he said the price is going to go up because of tariffs. Took everything I had not to laugh.

I think half my HS classmates went to UCSB. I spent a LOT of time down there.
What year did you graduate HS?
86
Ah, I probably didn't know any of them, then. Unless by chance they were in Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
only had 1 good friend who was a hardcore greek... he died this year. no idea what frat he was in... DJ were his initials- great guy.
Sorry to hear... we've had some guys pass away recently but I don't think any were this year.

I graduated HS in '92 and UCSB in '96.
