GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (4 Viewers)

plus, my deepest sympathies Uruk for the big bonus and big boobs.
My God, the woman I had lunch with just texted me what may be the most filthy thing I've ever heard and that's considering, as noted above, I have a friend who's a hooker. Lunch lady's boobs were involved in said filth.

when Floppinho was 5, two of his buddies in kindergarten started bullying one of their other friends. this appeared to continue without interference from the teacher, kids or parents to the point where it began genuinely upsetting my son- to see his friends being mean, to see his friend being treated badly, and to see no grown-ups helping. we've always told our kids this kind of behavior is NOT ok, and that if they see it or if it happens to them, the first thing they need to do is tell the perpertrators that what they're doing is wrong/not ok and to stop... with the proviso that if they do it again he'll tell the teacher what's going on.

it felt like our kid was the only one doing anything about the situation- including the teacher ("I'm not seeing any of this"- 25 kids, public school, and most of it happening during recess when she wasn't there to see) and administration. the behavior continued and we talk to the parent of the kid who's getting bullied- "we don't want to get the other kids in trouble". :loco:  ... ok. even though these kids are routinely picking out your kid and making him cry. one of the bullies was our kid's best friend at the time- ok kid, but there were defeinitly times you could see the eyes roll back into his head great-white style and he'd do some above and beyond wrong/physical behavior (while horsing around walking home, push our son into the street, or throw drinking bottle at his head from only a few feet away... with no repurcussions from his own dad).

floppinho's bday was right around when this all came to a head- he chose not to invite the bullies to his party because he was worried about the other friend. I made the point of talking to the great-white's dad, who I got along with and spent a bit of time with outside of school. listen- son really likes your kid, but isn't going to invite him to the party because he's repeatedly seen him be mean to the other kid. if somebody told me that kind of thing, I'd be shocked, but want to know wtf was going on so I could deal with my own son. as such, I figured this was going to be a long conversation. guy kind of nodded, and that was literally the last time he even looked at me for the rest of the school year. wife wouldn't look at either of us either. thankfully we left that place for 1st grade.

tldr, parents can be ####### idiots, myself included. and robert deniro!

I ran a 10K today with some friends and then drank a bottle of champagne and then took a nap and then Nomar Mazara hit a home run. Nice little Sunday.

by all means don't tell us what she said.

Why do they even sometimes call them escorts, anyway?  We all know what's really going down.

(I suppose they "escort" penii into their no-no areas, but that's kind of arguing semantics, right?)
escorts are a step up from hookers.   you'd take an escort out in public.

Unrelated to this, it looks like we're buying a boat.  Nothing the least bit fancy, a little 24-foot thing for crabbing and such.  Any advice, other than "don't buy a boat," appreciated.  And yes, I know that you will begin the post by complaining about the absence of boat launch in our little town.

My wife is basically an escort. Except for the sex part.
ugly to plain chick that will have sex for money anywhere=streetwalker

semi-attractive/attractive chick that will have sex for money in a hotel=hooker

hot chick that will have sex for money anywhere=escort

chick that will have take your money but not have sex anywhere but on vacation=wife

hot chick that will take your money but not have sex anywhere but with other men=golddigger

Because this thread hadn't been enough of a downer...  My best buddy/favorite kitty had to have emergency surgery last night.  He is recovering and hopefully will be able to come home tomorrow or Tuesday.  In meantime we went to visit him at the vet today and while waiting, a mom and two kids came out from the back area.  I saw the older kid (boy, around 10?) was carrying a cat carrier and started to say, "Oh, kitty!" when I realized the carrier was empty.  Then I noticed both he and his sister (6?) wiping their eyes.  ####.  I wanted to hug them both and then go get them a new kitty.

I will help you.  take me boat shopping.  it's pretty much my favorite thing in the world.

do you care what it looks like?  for where we live and for what you want to do the best boats are not the most aesthetically pleasing boats.

under no circumstances should you even consider a boat that you can't at least have a canvas/eisenglass cabin with a heat exchanger.   a pilothouse would be ideal.   it gets cold here.  comfort then utility is the key.  all sorts of pretty boats for sale that you will regret when you are freezing your ### off.

I understood some of these words.

I just saw a 25' Wellcraft Coastal with a pilothouse on consignment that would be perfect.
Where did you see this?

And how much?

This is it.  I saw this (not similar..this) boat at the Tacoma Boat Show two weeks ago.

Not sure of your budget...but this is a perfect boat for what you want.

This won't have heat, but the cabin will let you stay warm.

"Take me boat shopping."

Did you move your pelvis slightly when you wrote that?

ETA:  In Ohio we used to say "I'll drive you to Cleveland."  So I was thinking it was a NW Coast thing.

I've only been here for 36 hours but I have to say Portland is a great city. Having dinner at Ave Gene's as we speak and playing at Pumpkin Ridge tomorrow.

I'd love to buy you a drink this week GM--let me know if you're around.

I'm binge watching The Wire but I've got a question about something that happened and I can't find a thread in here about it. Any Wire fans around?

Harold Ramis was also wonderful in Ghostbusters. He was a funny man.
