Not sure if anything's been shared but Sunday dinner at my parents' a couple weeks ago was in fact an elaborate ruse to stage an intervention.  Actually it wasn't very elaborate, they just told me my mom was making her sauce and meatballs and I ran headlong onto the pongee sticks.  Long story short, the next day I was in the beautiful mountains of Colorado and have been sober for like 12 days.  I now own hiking boots (Krista>hey) and have actually used them.  Twice.

In case you're wondering how much of a life change this has been, just re-read that last bit.  I WALKED UP A FRIGGIN MOUNTAIN...AND NOT FOR BOOZE, DRUGS, OR SEX.

Anyway, I have a little more freedom now and can hop on here every once in a while and keep you jackholes up on the movings and groovings of your GB Homer J.

P and S I've already gotten in several arguments about all the god bull#### in the 12 step program, and basically been told that I can pretty much substitute anything for my "higher power" and I've decided to turn my life over to Paarthurnax.  Thorn and Tre will understand, the rest of you can look it up.

My older brother has been sober for like 22 years now.  Pretty sure rehab saved his life.

Of course he just got engaged (his third time around) after dating this woman for like 3 months.  She's also demanded that he cut every tie to any exGF he's ever had AND their families.  She even told him to tell all of us to defriend any of his exes and their families on FB as well.  

So yeah.

Don't know if this got posted in the SP or somewhere, but Tavaris Jackson (backup QB for the Seahawks) got drunk and threatened to shoot his wife.

"Per the report, Jackson’s wife replied that he 'better be accurate because you ain’t accurate on the field.'"

Ha, funny story about that boat we bought.

We hired a dude to show us what to do with a boat, since we were all clueless.  About an hour into his instruction the boat started going insane, alarms going off and nearly sank.  This was early May?  Since then it's been in a boat hospital with the latest estimated time of being fixed at about a week from now.  We've spent over $4000 just in labor, not to mention the new parts of another several thousand, paying for a slip we don't use, etc.

Come to think of it, that's not a funny story.

Boats suck.

 
If you guys have not checked out cheeseypoof's wife thread, you should pop your head in there and send your condolences as his wife passed away suddenly in the last day.  I think his thread got overshadowed by the Riley one as it started at a similar time, but with a similarly difficult situation and in this case much more difficult outcome.

What exactly is wrong with the boat? I've been around one or two in my time and "going insane" isn't a diagnosis I'm familiar with.

It's a cliche, but "the best boats are the ones your friends own" is true. 

 
K4>many boat mechanics are thieves.  Many boat problems are easy.  Unless you need to be repowered, nothing should cost that much.  Talk to old school boat owners before you write checks.

I  am getting divorced when my kids are the same ages for the same reasons.

meh, worthless to speculate on another marriage. never know what people are hiding, just not talking about or putting up with. everyone's tolerance is different. no shame in making a decision that fits your needs.
