Went to the new house in MN this weekend. We had a huge water damage claim - all the vaulted ceilings needed to be torn out, new insulation, drywall, all the hardwood floors needed refinishing, new lighting. Picked out wall paint colors and new floor stain colors.

Really looking forward to moving in early July. But it's been very stressful managing this project from 400 miles away. Good news is there are 5 other kids in the cul de sac around my daughters ages and they played with them and are now really excited to move there.
Buying the house two doors down from me might have been the smartest thing I've ever done in life.

Until the buyers start badmouthing the sellers around the neighborhood...

Fun little adventure with Disco Stu yesterday. Picked him up at a bed and breakfast downtown and he had a cold beer waiting for me. I met two of his buddies who were at the Bachelor party and thought nothing of calling him "Stu" in front of them. We went to 10 Barrel brewpub and enjoyed some fine craft beers and hummus. Yes, Stu ordered a hummus plate. And of course, it just wouldn't be Stu Life with a day trip to the nooooody bar, which is where I left him with his suitcase. Man, the ladies love Stu....

Yeah, that's going to be interesting if/when we ever sell our house. Hope it doesn't turn into hardball.

So today was our end of the year luncheon thing. My supernintendo (Steve) is retiring so I was one of the people chosen to get up and tell a story or two. The other day he was talking about how he used to have a full head of dark hair.

I mentioned that today and said "Steve, I'm not one to talk but your hair is white enough that it could talk back to the cops*".

The reaction from the crowd was mixed. Some laughs, some "Oooooo!". Might have been too edgy for a bunch of elementary school teachers in flyover land.

*i totally stole that from the White House correspondents dinner

Funniest GD thing I've seen in quite awhile.

Guy in black catches wife cheating with guy in white. They fight. Do-gooders jump in. Whore wife calms stuff down. Listen for the trumpet come out of nowhere at 1:10. Song choice is perfect.

That's the funniest thing you've seen in a while, but Hannibal isn't good enough for you.

God I hate you so bad.

Btw, I started re-watching 30 Rock recently...I really can't think of a show that makes me unexpectedly lol more than that. Jebus, there are so many great one-liners, I'm struggling to think of a comparison. I got nothing other than Archer.

Best part of my night was when one of the workers sat down on their break at a beat up baby grand in a room they're doing demolition work in. He started playing beautiful song after song. Soon, the other workers were gathered around him and started singing along in Spanish to some of them. An unexpected, and awesome, moment.

My wife just started rewatching it too, mostly on her iPad around the house when she is doing other things. Often I will only be in the same room for a minute or two and will hear a couple of jokes that make me laugh out loud.

It was a great show. I think Archer is a good comparison for the sudden laughs, as is the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Arrested Development.

I keep seeing a story pop up on Twitter about the Browns signing a 10 year old kid to a 1 day contract through Make a Wish and all I can think is man hasn't the kid suffered enough?

Does simply living in Cleveland now qualify kids for the Make a Wish Foundation or does this poor kid also have some kind of life threatening disease?

Hey Hey HEY. Disparage the Browns all you want but leave the city and good people of Cleveland out of it.

This isn't Detroit for God's sake.

tanner>do you get a class gift at the end of the year?

my daughter's school always has some busy-body parent arrange these things. this year, they're giving her teacher a gift card to take his family to the Great Wolf Lodge and have some spending money while he's there. with the number of kids and the suggested gift amount, this will end up being just over $1,000. is this normal?

That will just about cover one night there.

"Times are not good here. The city is crumbling into ashes. It has been buried under a lava flood of taxes and frauds and maladministrations so that it has become only a study for archaeologists. Its condition is so bad that when I write about it, as I intend to do soon, nobody will believe I am telling the truth. But it is better to live here in sackcloth and ashes than to own the whole state of Ohio."

Can you go to a store like a best buy and listen to fancy earbuds/earphones? I assume not, because nasty.

Is there some wonderful experience I may be missing by not dropping a 1/4 rack on some buds?
