I've never had a flu shot before, and haven't caught the flu in years. Since I'm in contact with patients now, I'm required to get the shot. Got the shot last week, got the flu on Saturday. Neat.
No disrespect intended whatsoever, but no, you didn't. No one has ever been injected with dead flu viruses and contracted the flu as a direct result. Far more likely, you picked up some live virus at about the same time. It can take 2-3 weeks to build up your immunity.

Sorry to be a Richard, but I'm starting to think misinformation causes more disease than failure to wash one's hands.

Just read a really interesting chapter in Think Like A Freak that explains why these scammers intentionally make their lures fairly outrageous with bad grammar and obvious scam key words.

some kid at my daughter's school has parents who drive around in a nutty car like this, my favorite wacky sticker being "ISIS = CIA." So one more thing to be thankful that my parents didn't get into I guess.

The side effects of the shot are "flu-like" symptoms, including fever, body aches, etc. Might as well have caught the real thing.

I was just trying to remember which podcast I heard it on - must have been Freakonomics.

edit - found this:

Levitt and Dubner explain the genius behind such an obvious scam in terms of "false positives," referring to email recipients who engage with the scammers but don't ultimately pay. Reaching out to scores of potential victims isn't much work, thanks to the ease of email, but with each reply from a gullible target, the scammers are required to put forth a little more effort.

Therefore, it's in the scammers' best interest to minimize the number of false positives who cost them effort but never send them cash. By sending an initial email that's obvious in its shortcomings, the scammers are isolating the most gullible targets. If you trash their email, that's fine. They don't want you, someone from whom there's virtually no chance of receiving any money. They want people who, faced with a ridiculous email, still don't recognize its illegitimacy.

As Herley tells the book's authors, "Anybody who doesn't fall off their chair laughing is exactly who they want to talk to."

Those symptoms last a day or two, whereas actual influenza lasts a week or more. And some people die from the actual flu.

And the actual flu is highly contagious, whereas your symptoms weren't.

But other than those little differences, it is exactly the same, yeah.

Ooop, nevermind. I wasn't smart enough to keep reading. No wonder I get so many of these scam emails. :oldunsure:

The second one looks a little like the gin that Phil from the Future used to drink, but it is still pretty sharp looking.

I think there's too much going on in the first one for a logo. Needs to be cut down to one image.

Instead of two pics, maybe have the x-Ray specs on the dude's head as he ogles his partner as he dips her, or have them dancing partly behind one of those x-Ray screens like in the cartoons?

If I choosing between the two, I would go with the second one.

Edit: Either I got the order wrong when viewing or Cos flipped them in his edit. I prefer the stylized company name over the one with the dancing/goggles images.
