i usually leave for work at 6 and leave for home at 6. With the toll road (which is 5 minutes from the new place) it's about 35-40 minutes door to door.

Or people who don't want to eat fruit/meat leavin's on a Sunday that's been hanging around since the previous Tuesday.
"Brunch", as a concept, is pretty much what establishments use to clean out the cooler. Enjoy your frittata made with week old proteins and the cantaloupe squares(as if those aren't bad enough on their own) that were being used as part of a garnish last Wednesday.

I worked in food service during my formative years and had a roommate in college that worked the local "wedding banquet/etc" venue for a couple/three years. Old stuff that hasn't spoiled is getting used up, make no mistake. It's not all just getting chucked when a new delivery shows up.
Go ahead and have that chicken a la king with a side of scallops someplace on a Saturday though. I'm sure it's delicious and won't make you have a bad pooh experience at all.

At our old house, we would get pounded. Easily 400/500 kids per year. There was an entire block 2 streets over that the police would shut down from vehicle traffic because it was so busy due to someone making their front yard into a haunted house. So we'd get the overflow from that. We know someone that now lives on that block and the first year in that house they went through 5 300 piece bags of dum dum suckers. Insane.
We're in a new house this year. They are coming at a good clip, but nothing compared to the old place.
Still, we have run out of candy.

we made it! It was a close one. Especially when some grubby little girl was digging in the bowl saying "I love milky ways!" She got like 5!! My wife brought home hot apple cider with vodka and goldschlagger for me from a neighbor. I'm not a huge fan.
I love breakfast foods and lunch can be great too, but the combo isn't my thing.
And when people eat it after the usual lunch time (like say 2 PM), that's just weird.

Regardless, I wouldn't say I'm "anti-brunch", per se. I'm just not partaking of one that wasn't prepared by hands that I'm already familiar with/trust.

so my kid (9) goes to a friends house tonight for some halloween shenanigans. as i drop her off, i notice that it's only moms (35-45). there's at least 6 of them. before i leave, i am called upon to light the bbq, cause they can't figure it out. turn knobs, press ignite, go.
fast forward 4 hours to me picking her up......there are 4-6 new moms. all moms are ####### hammered. there are now 3 males at the party, the home owner, and 2 dudes i already know. that leaves 8 or so wasted, horny as ####, divorced moms. never in my life have i been so popular at a party. were i single, i'd be **** deep in some jiggly ###, mom train action. one of them asked me to be her daddy. ahhh booze, what a wonderful thing.

4 day update?
Me, I spent Thursday through yesterday afternoon in the hospital. I had my surgery Tuesday, everything seemed to go well, and I came home the same day. Thursday afternoon I got this awful abdominal pain - worst pain I've ever had - and crazy sweating. Went to the emergency room and they ran a zillion tests. They also called my surgeon and he showed up, admitting me until they could figure out what was wrong. Friday morning my temp had gone to 101 and blood work came back with a high white cell count. At this point, they're thinking infection and they scheduled surgery for Saturday morning (I heard the surgery part from a nurse and don't know what they were gonna do). They hooked me up to two IVs of antibiotics, along with whatever "regular" solution I had been on and the shots of morphine. By Friday night, my temperature was down to 99.something. Pulled more blood and the white count was down some (but still high). Saturday morning, my temp was 98.4 (
) and I started angling to go home. I almost stayed for the morphine, but my desire to get the #### out of that place was higher. They made me eat some solid food and hang to see if I could keep it down - when it did, they turned me loose. The doc said that one of the tests showed a small bit of funky stuff in the fluid around my liver and, best he can figure, is that I got an infection there.
Anyway, now I'm back to feeling about how I did the first day after surgery. I'm now on two kinds of antibiotics. The pharmacist told me on one of them "See that note not to drink alcohol? Many times, people ignore that and have no ill effects. Not this one. Do not drink and don't even use mouthwash soon after taking it. You will get really sick." Normally, I'd just say "#### it" but I don't feel like taking a chance on going back to the hospital anytime soon. So, wagon it is for me until I eat all of the pills.
