Wait until the last 20-30 minutes to put in the dumplings or they'll break apart and dissolve. If you ashley done it, don't worry about it, they'll just act as a roux and thicken the liquid. You can add more closer to finish.

I haven't put the dumplings in yet. I was gonna put them in in stages once it gets to "keeping warm" - maybe a handful every half an hour or so. I'm afraid that I put too much chicken and not enough liquid in to start, so I may have to add some water later.

 
I'm nothing if not stylistically inconsistent. Chicken & dumplings on the stove, tropical music on the radio, and a Christmas-scented candle burning. Oh, and I'm wearing shorts and a day-glo orange T shirt.

 
Under the pretense of finding a light fixture for the foyer, i am about to leave the house all day. Might catch a movie, do some day drinking. Maybe even look at a couple of lights.

My grandma used to make chicken and dumplings a lot for our big family lunches on Sundays after church. So good. And so many great memories of those days.

 
I used to make out with a little red head girl named Ashley every so often. Never actually had sex with her, just would randomly see her out sometimes, hang out for a while, fool around and then we'd go our separate ways. I wouldn't even call it friends with benefits, we didn't really know each other or do much else, we just enjoyed fooling around with each other. What a great time in life that was.

 
Will they accept barter? Say... hand crafted beer and chicken and dumplings?

Sorry about the hospital rape, UH. That kind of ruh-roh would pretty much finish me off.

 
I have good insurance compared to most people, but I've run myself damned near broke over the last 4 years just paying my part.

I've got a friend who owns a cabin in Iceland with its own hot spring, and another who's got a killer rental in Thailand.

Feel like hopping a plane and letting "them" come get me.

 
Bill, they probably won't send you to collections or anything if you just make regular payments.

OTOH, nobody drinks as much as the Icelanders. We should cornhole there. :suds:

I have a buddy that retired to Thailand. Only living on a military pension, not sure if he is working at all. Last time I talked to him he is living well, golfing and has a hot 28 year old girlfriend that has a career (not in the escort business). He is 62 and not at all attractive.

If I ever run away, I'm going there.

ETA: Not implying you are not attractive UH. I have seen your picture - you look like a young Sean Connery compared to my friend.

Yeah, I'm gonna call them Monday and try to work something out. I know an exec with Valley Health, but she's in admin and I doubt can help....but I'll ask for her opinion, too.

I did a #### job of planning ahead when I was young, but busted my ### later on to try & get myself caught up. Two divorces and an insane amount of medical bills later - poof, gone.

Kev - I probably have enough loose change, redeemable gift cards, high thread-count sheets, and beer-brewing equipment that I could get a one-way ticket to Iceland for a cornhole. I'm in!

On the plus side, the chicken & dumplings turned out pretty good. I used a smidge too much pepper for most, I reckon, but not enough to mess anything up. I'm glad I only gradually added the dumplings, as what the recipe called for would have been too much for the way this turned out.

Bill, they will negotiate with you. Tell them their option is to send you to collections and give up 25-30% to the agency on the off chance you pay them at some point in time or to take $9k from you over however many payments you can afford to pay that off. Let them set up the plan and bill you. They'll be happy with a lesser % and an established commitment to pay. I'd guess 60% of the total.

I have a friend Liz from Chicago. Knew her mostly through her more famous musician husband. When they split she moved to nowheresville, upstate NY. Lost touch with the husband but became closer to Liz, including helping when she was suicidal a couple of years ago - reached out in this thread for advice on that.

Tonight Liz posted that she had "jammed with musicians for the first time since I moved here over 7 years ago. Bout time! So much fun! Thanks Ann [last name redacted]!"

Last-name-redacted Ann was my brother's one-and-only pre-college girlfriend. In our small town in Indiana.

Found out Ann was the hospice nurse for Liz's beloved dad who died about a year ago.

The world, she is amazing sometimes.
