GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (7 Viewers)

My youngest turned 3 on Thursday.  It seems his new favorite game has become I Wonder If I Can Flush This Down The Toilet?  His socks...no problem.  Beanie baby or moms workout pants...no go, but damned if he doesn't keep trying

his second favorite game is How Much Dog/Cat Food Can I Scatter Around The Room

tl;dr version: small children are #######s

Unrelated to this, it looks like we're buying a boat.  Nothing the least bit fancy, a little 24-foot thing for crabbing and such.  Any advice, other than "don't buy a boat," appreciated.  And yes, I know that you will begin the post by complaining about the absence of boat launch in our little town.
let me know if want to talk to my uncle that has a boat in seattle.  he has a boat like these

Put a bell on the bathroom door so you know when he's going in

I've only been here for 36 hours but I have to say Portland is a great city. Having dinner at Ave Gene's as we speak and playing at Pumpkin Ridge tomorrow.

I'd love to buy you a drink this week GM--let me know if you're around.
Pretty tight on time this week.  In-laws in town (again!) and commitments the next three nights.  How long you in town for?  Glad you're having fun!

Beautiful!

I think the boat-buying is now dead. :kicksrock:   We were buying with my mom and stepfather, and my mom has chickened out.
Well that was a quick change of heart.  Are they the ones that you usually buy houses with, too?

Update on the situation with Joe and my son. School said he will not be in class for the next 3 days and is going to need to talk to the school psychiatrist about his focusing on my son and the carry through with the drawing/verbal statement. They won't be removing him from class though, so we may request they move my son to a different class. All in all not the best outcome but reasonable I suppose. Seems like they are taking it fairly serious with the psychologist requirement. However this kid was roaming the neighborhood all weekend so no repercussions at home. Color me shocked.

Do people that don't like The Wire really exist?
I have watched the first episode twice and have never started the second episode.  One of these days I plan on watching because I keep hearing how great it is.  The first episode obviously didn't pull me in

Not to be too cynical but the psychiatrist thing is also a CYA move.

first season takes a bit to build as i recall

i remember thinking "eh, i'll give it a shot anyways" and then getting completely hooked as it went on

It's not like handies spoil anything, it's just your own expectations working against you while you silently pray for a proper send off or at least a couple head bobs and your hope slowly turns to the bitter realization that this really is as good as it's going to get tonight and she doesn't understand pace at all and now you're kind of spitefully refusing to finish while still holding out how that that's somehow going to change her mind which will never ever happen so really you might as well just let er rip because there's no sense in prolonging the inevitable.  So I guess technically handies are a spoiler but there's blame on both sides,  you know.

Read my pm.   Also, I can find you something in a lesser price range that would work.  for 4 people you probably don't need that much boat for where you are anyway.

As men, we can't help but think a handy will lead to more...than just a handy. It's both ok and bad at the same time. Plus I give the best handies of all time, so why would she think it's gonna work?

JFC...

Last week I had to get on a kid because he was asking to use the restroom like every day.  I told him that I couldn't deny him the ability to use the restroom but I could count them as being tardy and that it could result in a detention.

I get an email yesterday from his mom saying basically "oh I guess we forgot to tell you that Timmy had a kidney removed at the end of last summer and he should be able to use the restroom at will."

And another kid has been missing a lot of school.  Like 2 days every week for the last month.  I had to get on him about doing his make-up work.   I get an email this morning from out counselor saying "oh BTW Johnny's mom has cancer that's why he is missing so much school".

Thanks for heads up.

Dear State of Nevada,

If you intend to have an online system to accommodate filing unemployment claims, in order to not have to require anyone to actually bother you on the phone, perhaps you should ensure that it actually functions.
