GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (12 Viewers)

At least I don't live in a house that has a lot of huge trees surrounding it or one that's made up mostly of windows.

Oh wait, scratch that.  I was thinking of the wrong house.  Nope, I do live in such a house.
Don't worry.  You've got all those senior citizens in the neighborhood to act as insulation/ballast.  You'll be fine.

ETA: Seriously, please don't die.

I'll do my best, GB, but can't make promises.  I am nowhere near as prepared as fish, having neither a generator nor a 22-year-old.

Nice! Where ya staying?
Little slow on this. Long couple of days of work.

Answer: I don't know. We booked through CheapCaribbean and booked their Deal of Fortune Punts Cana Adults Only deal. We won't find out exactly which one until like a week before we leave, but it will be one of:

  • Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro
  • Secrets Royal Beach
  • Breathless Punta Cana

Does adults-only mean swingers?  It means swingers, right?  Maybe you could have your own thread instead of The Grizz.

No way. My wife would get WAY more action than me and I definitely don't need those levels of depression. It just means no kids running around ruining my relaxation.

Either that, or I'm in for a huge surprise and have been incredibly misled by their advertising...

I really do have a weird job. I just spent the last month in a decommissioned power plant suited up in a Tyvek suit and respirator doing an inspection for asbestos (not so much looking for it as much as quantifying the crap-ton of it that was there) while trying not to die walking on all of the rusting out grated floors 200 feet in the air.

Tomorrow I'm testing an old lady's apartment for Legionella.

Friday I'm testing an old bank for asbestos, lead paint, mercury and other hazardous materials.

Next Wednesday I'm running personnel monitoring for employees in a factory testing for exposure to breathable metals and acids.

I love what I do and the variety, but man is it kind of insane.

GD, I hope your protective gear is state of the art.

And for swinging, nothing beats Civil War re-enactors. Apparently, once they put down their weapons, it's all-swap, all the time.

Meh.  Try leading my life.  I should have the CDC on speed dial.

I had plans to meet with our VP of strategic planning, the Travis County Fire Marshal and the Texas Liquor Store Association tomorrow. Also have a website vendor flying in from New York tomorrow for a strategy session on dynamic website content management. And lunch with Abe. Guess which one of these people decided they were too big of a deal to meet?

Be honest. The Liquor Store Association thing is personal, not business.

Krista's post in the Trump thread last night deserves more than a "like" button. It deserves a "make every male in America read it" button. You are tougher than I am, GB.

Yeah, I actually copy/pasted that into a Word Doc I created for my sons called "Life Lessons".  Will be giving them all copies when they're old enough and my teenage boys are getting close.

I've been propositioned a handful of times by women I've worked with.  Not really sure how that's relevant; just wanted to brag.
take it to the ridiculously handsome thread, gut.

eta: guy. gut. whatever.

wow. first time I've been in that thread.... thanks for linking that.

and thanks to K4 for posting that- stunning stuff. hopefully the political chuckleheads will read it and come away with something more than knee-jerked bunched undies.

also made me feel like I've lost a lot of time not molesting women over the years.

If I'm being honest, I don't think it's about looks.  I happened to work in an industry that had A LOT of fraternization, and I always took pains to stay very far away from it, or even the appearance of it.  I think there was (is?) a small minority of women who are open to office or client romance, and my approach might have led them to believe that maybe I didn't realize it was a possibility.

P and S - are people really stunned by this stuff?  I figure about a third of the powerful men I have worked for or with were guilty of this sort of thing.

aforementioned grocery store post... those days taught me all I needed to know about pens and company ink. never dipped back into it.

I don't know if stunned is the right word.  I just appreciated the candor and viewpoint from somebody I know and trust.  It also sheds some light as to why many women do not come forward at the time or at all, which was the objection raised by CJ initially.
