GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (22 Viewers)

Slightly above average girls with low self esteem taking thier clothes off?  Sounds good to me
in theory it's a good idea

in practice, it's 12 dudes sitting in a circle leering at some chick who looks about enthused to be rubbing her cans in that fat guy's face as Jim Caldwell appears to be coaching an NFL football game

two of the chicks last night slid around the stage like they had fallen to the floor after choking on a Bavarian pretzel

the topper for me was the dude at the bar eating steak and broccoli in a ####ty dive strip bar while he paid for a stripper to tell him the plate of food looked good

Yeah, looked it up and a family of two relying on the income from a $23,000/yr job still qualifies for Medicaid, etc in Indiana.  Hopefully it's better than that.  In any event, for any of the workers who keep their jobs and their families it's a big win I bet.
not sure i follow

never been. my buddy was telling me about some joint he went to in LA where the chicks were 9+ across the board. might make things a bit more interesting.
Yeah, but from what I understand, you can't drink at LA clubs.  They make you buy a $12 Sprite.  Pass.

one of my firm's projects (I didn't really work on it) is on the cover of this month's architectural digest, and we've also been selected one of the AD 100.

pretty big news for us. now, hopefully I don't get laid off for the holidays.

a contact of mine may have landed us a small job in a nice building (giuliani is a neighbor) as well.

still hoping to not get laid off for the holidays. it's awesome being an architect.

Give Tanner a break. I'd like to see you guys keep posting at that pace when you're North of 100.

Not sure where to put this, so I guess this thread works:  Last week we went to a concert performance at my daughter's school (7th grade).  One of her friends was in chorus and she wanted to support her.  It was a special veteran's day performance, where they sang a bunch of -- i don't know, "fight songs"? -- from each military branch.  It was nice.  For each song representing a branch of the military, the parents that were vets in the respective branch stood up for the length of the song.   It was fine, until. . . .

The director asked the audience to stand up while the chorus sang the pledge of allegiance.

Guess which LONE jackhole dad sat that one out like Kramer refusing to wear his AIDS ribbon?  I think my daughter used up a lifetime's worth of eyerolls on me.  Through gritted teeth: "daaaaaaad."  I didn't have much for a response other than, "I'm sorry, honey, I don't do pledges."

Her:  "what does that even mean? Gah!"
Good man.  Further, you swore an oath to uphold the constitution and, in my opinion, the pledge, as currently written, violates the constitution.

And the trickle down effect, which is what I was alluding to with my playground post.

My 'pledge pride', which I actually share with Sweet J, isn't worth creating a potential situation where my child is the butt of jokes and ridicule.

Don't want to stand for the pledge? Go take a piss or something.
I gotta admit, I am as wimpy as you on the issue.

I handle a pro bono vet court caseload once or twice per month that always kicks off with the pledge.  Since I abhor loyalty oaths and believe the pledge is unconstitutional I initially just stood and did nothing.  However, for the marines, the pledge is serious business and one guy called me out.  Now, I just try to make sure I'm out in the hall talking to a client or using the bathroom or whatever.
