GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (14 Viewers)

our office party is at my boss's apt- catered dinner and nice drinks... after work. usually a decent time, good grub and booze even if it's after work hours.

I have to go to a contractor party tonight after work. can't get in and out of there fast enough... even though again, usually good food and drinks.

Boss took me to lunch today, then had an afternoon meeting canceled so we went to the bar and he picked up the tab there too

Also told me to take Thursday off, so tomorrow last day for the year

My previous firm is trying to screw me out of somewhere around $50,000 that I was expecting to be paid by year end.   I've had to hire a lawyer, and will most likely end up suing them (only there's no attorney's fees provision, so every dollar I spend on an attorney essentially reduces my net).
just learned today that it's $100,000+

Does that mean you're going to get $100k or screwed out of $100k?
They owe me $100K.  It's a set percentage of a confidential settlement.  I knew about the settlement, but not the exact amount.  When I submitted my request that they pay me my fee, they told me they didn't intend to pay it.   At that time I believed my earned fee would be about $30,000-$50,000.   I've now learned that it's $100,000.

I'll need to sue them and then we'll probably negotiate a settlement.   So I'm not sure what I'll end up getting screwed out of yet.

Is there any way I can sue you people?

how does this work? they just decided they wanted to #### you?  had you parted ways already?

Speaking of dogs....(we really weren't, but I am now)....

Wife was walking our mutt on the back 40 here after dinner the other day.  It's the "undeveloped" part of this subdivision.  Think, "bubble popped in '08 and these lots never got touched since."  So, it's basically a giant open meadow that a local redneck mows occasionally to bale the hay for his livestock.   Usually after mowing the bales get picked up that afternoon.  That particular day, not so.

So, as my bride is out taking the dog for his laps she lets him off leash to run around the big mown area(it's fully fenced).  Visual on the dog: He's about 45 pounds and the top of his head comes up to just above my knee(I'm 6'2").  So, a solidly "medium", but maybe on the smaller end of that, sized pooch.  Anyway, wife starts jogging with him and unprovoked he makes the jump to light speed, runs up to one of these hay bales and jumps on top of the gaddam thing.  Not, like, scrabbling up to the top, mind you.  Fully takes fekking flight and sticks the landing on top of this thing(it's probably about 5' tall).  She, of course, goes completely gaga over it and gave his a$$ bacon bits as a reward.

Now, for the last 5 days or so, the bales haven't moved and every time he is out there, on leash or off, he is leaping onto every. Single. Hay bale, because he thinks hay bale = bacon.  And he's started changing up the routine on his own.  "Running full speed and leaping to the top is just too simple.  I'm going to do it from the side, from a sitting position, with the leash still attached.  Russian judge is gonna give me a nine." *freaking levitates onto the hay bale.  Looks around like he just banged the Rose Bowl Queen*

He hasn't done it yet, but he has the height down to clear these things completely if he'd run at it full tilt without slowing down.  I keep video taping his walks hoping he'll pull it off, and we can get internet famous/rich, but in the same moment I hope he never does because then he's going to figure out he can clear the hedge in the back yard whenever he wants to.

tl;dr: My dog is, apparently, pretty much a harrier jump jet.  I'm attempting to find ways of monetizing this, but haven't come up with solid leads yet.

Yes.  I have a contract with their firm that paid me a set annual fee plus a percentage of all fees earned by the firm on clients I generated.  That percentage wasn't dependent on me working the cases, just bringing them in.  I declined renewing at the end of the contract term.   They continued to pay my percentage as they were paid their fees, until this one, when they just decided not to pay me.  I was paid on a separate settlement in the same case, so they admit I brought it in and was entitled to my fee.  Not exactly sure what they are trying to base their position on.   So far it seems to be that they just don't want to pay it.

the posts here cross and get confusing:

-some chick is jumping on Christian Bale?

-a lawyer is hiring a lawyer to sue his old law firm?

-someone just got out of jail?

-GM is in hell?

Is this where you find out your firm is really a front for the Morolto crime family?

tl;dr I may have my own brain malady soon.

Some of you may remember Ken, my drunk disabled vet neighbor. Well, hegone. Disappeared over Thanksgiving weekend. His apartment is being renovated, and we share an air duct. So I'm getting a heady mixture of paint, carpet glue and who knows what else. I can't air the place out because it's colder than a pimp's heart out there. In fact, my heater is bringing in fresh load of carcinogens on the regular. Getting a third arm or something like that would be cool, but I think I'm going to have to settle for a splitting headache. And I still have plenty of work to do.
Get yourself a 3M Respirator GB

I've never done a work pot-luck event... until the thread/posts about it in the FFA I had no idea it was even a thing. a bad, bad thing.
