GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (10 Viewers)

not sure i believe this. i've seen The Killing on Netflix and there has yet to be a sliver of sunshine in 2 seasons.
Outside of barren desert Hellscapes, Seattle is actually one of the drier places in the country during June-September. We don't get the summer T-storms that most of the Midwest, South and East get.

I'm still commuting to work with my feet, despite the daily deluge of rain.  Today I almost cried halfway to the office; not that it would have mattered.  My pants are just now starting to dry.  Once this cobalt trade is consummated, I'm retiring to Arizona.  I'm done with this.
are you rethinking your no umbrella policy?

Our company just inked a 10-year, 80 unit development deal in Japan. It's going to bring some much needed revenue (both initially and ongoing) for our brand.

Interestingly they don't want us to redesign any of our collateral, signs, posters etc. they all have white and black Americans featured prominently and obviously everything in written in English. Apparently that's a good thing in Japan.

TL;DR:Japanese people can be.....unique. :)

The Japanese, by and large, looooove them some Western imagery/culture.   A friend of mine lived there back in the late 90s/early 00s with her then husband and her young daughter.  Natives would come accost them to get pictures with their kid because she looked like a poster girl for an Aryan day care(which they apparently found fascinating.  Don't see many blonde/blue-eyed kids there, I suppose).  And not necessarily pleasantly either, as in "Oh, excuse me?  Could we take a picture with your daughter?"  According to her, it was more like photobombing whatever they happened to be doing, or just walking right up to them, posing with kid before they could be stopped and snapping the picutre, then walking off without a word.   No one was ever "violent"...just very forward.   It was like they were just seeing the kid(and her "Western-ness") as an oddity/unicorn or something.   Sort of like rednecks and giant balls of twine, I guess.

Is it just me or is it weird to imagine the Japanese just showing up uninvited and bombing something?

Do you get to go to Japan?

If so, I have a friend that is looking for painting of an octopus pleasuring a lady from the early 19th century.

Remember when I smashed into that deer on my motorcycle last year and blasted my knee? Well its been fine until yesterday and now I can barely walk. I'm supposed to fly out to the west coast tomorrow afternoon and I don't know if I can walk the terminal, much less to my seats in Petco, Santa Anita and Dodger Stadium. FML.
When are you in SD?  Here until Friday.

Flying in tomorrow *Thur) eve. Lets get together thur night or friday. How late are you stayiing St. Paddys day?
Red eye out Friday night.  Am booked for dinner tomorrow night.  Maybe Friday, but need to find somewhere showing the UC game right after I get out of the convention center.

We'll be in the same area. We might find=d a way. How about Thur after the game 10ish or Friday before the game (4ish-5ish)

Maybe I should head over to Japan and offer to produce blond haired, blue eyed children with the locals.  I'm 5 for 5 in that category.

I won't tell them I'm fixed, though. :oldunsure:

Any suggestions for the Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage area?

Has anyone been to Agua Caliente Casino?

That name makes me laugh.

Anyone else just get about a dozen out-of-office replies from an email that appears to be @St. Louis Bob, despite not having emailed him?

Somehow I think Phil from the Future is behind this.

Casinos around that area are pretty boring, from my limited experience.  But still....if you want to gamble, there you go.

Beer Hunter is a fun place for watching hoops and day drinking.

I've been to Agua Caliente racetrack and casinos in Mexico.  Long history of government corruption, cartels/mafia and arson.   Good times.
