imagine her boyfriend's reaction when he found out he had to cancel plans for seeing her on Monday

here was her response via text:

"It really shows a disrespect for their employees’ time and planning. So instead of having been able to plan to go somewhere, they’re stuck in the city because last minute tickets are freaking expensive."

my response

"or- yay.. a day off"

am I off base for not being too upset about a last minute day off?

eta: serious question.

Not at all.  While I understand wanting some notice to plan something, a free extra day off is a free extra day off.  Unless they are taking away a vacation day or a different holiday or a floating holiday you can use at your own leisure, I can't understand complaining about an extra day off.

I wish I had the 3rd off, but I can assure my GMTAN friends that I won't do any more work than absolutely necessary that day.

I'm listening to a presentation about how my business group's wild success is basically saving the company. In the kitchen there's a sign on the fridge reminding us that milk is provided for use in coffee and tea only. I could go on all day about this crap.

Does the guy doing the presentation look like Alec Baldwin?

You should rebel against the company's leaders.  I did it once.  In an act of rebellion I scratched the words “place stool sample here” on the lunch room table at my office, but it backfired when it just became the thing to do.

are people pulling chugs right from the carton?

don't get me started on our office's nespresso policy. :hot:

eta: and the whole giving us days' off without enough notice to make adequate plans. #### them- I'm going to work instead.

go buy some hersheys syrup, mix about 20 glasses of chocolate milk

then put a sign out that says  " free chocolate milk, courtesy of "the MGMT""

win/win

we should just do away with weddings completely

nobody likes these things except for the mother of the bride

and maybe kids under 10 if there are other kids under 10 there

otherwise, what a completely miserable waste of time and money. nobody is happy during the process. especially not the bride & groom.

Speaking of lake folk and crappy, mass produced American lager in a koozie, I think American beer is like making love in a canoe.  They are both ####### close to water.

the ####### is a word that means intercoursing

I enjoyed both of my weddings.

The second was a much better idea, however.

Depends. Do you have a weiner? If so, you're not off base at all.

Would lots of notice have been nice? Of course. But a day off with short notice beats a day at work eight days a week and twice on Sunday.

the office decided just now to close next monday (july 3rd) to allow people a longer weekend.

while it would've been nice to have known this earlier so we could plan something, or afford tickets that weren't jacked up on short notice.. still nice to have the extra day off, especially tied to a long weekend.

the wife's reaction.. pissed. :loco:
2 weeks ago my company sent out an email saying we got Monday off as a paid holiday. And since the contractor I'm supervising right now has been working 4 10s, that meant a 5 day weekend. Sweet!

Only, the contractor ended up needing to work 5 8s this week, so Friday out the window.

And I got put on another project starting next week where the contractor is working Monday, so I'm working Monday now too. Neat.

And since we'll be off on the 4th, the contractor will be working next Saturday to make their 40, which means I'll be working next Saturday.

Double neat.

So went from a 5 day weekend to a regular weekend, the 4th off, and then having to work Saturday.

Or kids from impoverished areas that get to visit awesome people in their mini mansions
