Bacon wrapped stroh's?Apparently bacon really can make anything better. We've sure come a long way from Toys for Tots.
I'm not on FB much, but the last time I went on a bunch of my FB people were beside themselves over excitement for an upcoming Echo show with Violent Femmes opening. That's the name of my Echo & the Bunnymen cover band.
Des Moines Iowalocation/city? I think I know where this might be....
got a handful of them over the course of a couple weeks after staying at a Hilton a couple months back. they seem to have stopped.Anybody else getting robo spam calls for a resort of some kind, because you stayed at a resort recently? I get 4-5 a week... same recorded message. I block the ever changing local number each time.
Not this time. Picture this. We're on Lake Huron. My massive family of 7, my FIL/MIL, my BIL/SIL, my other SIL and her two kids and her new BF and his kid plus my wife's 13 year old cousin who is in tight with my older boys. 17 people in a house that sleeps like 12. On Sunday, my BIL/SIL who don't have any kids made us breakfast and bolted like they were escaping the zombie apocalypse. Can't blame them after the weekend they endured. SIL and her new BF packed up with their lot of kids and left soon after. My MIL was adamant that we not leave the cottage until the laundry and dishes were done, which would have been another 2 hours. Trying to clean the house with the twins running around like they are programmed to destroy is impossible, so I pleaded with wife, MIL to head back with the little kids leaving me, my FIL and the three older boys. The SECOND they were on Route 23, my FIL and I cracked beers, turned on the tunes and finished cleaning like we were freed from prison. I think it might have been 11am.Nobody wins money playing Keno. It is known.
Family is the main driver. My wife has like 18 cousins and they are ALL close. And their kids are all close. And watching my kids play with theirs, well...it's nice to have that sort of built in bond. Plus we could actually go on dates and stuff as my in-laws can watch our unruly hellcats. My mom's health is too poor to watch the little ones and it's too much work for just my dad. I will need to stay here as long as my parents are kicking though, so that's a bigger driver to staying than anything else. I love Oregon and I love the Pac NW, but I hate what has happened to Portland over the last 20+ years and I am kind of ready for a change.Well, when you put it like that it makes sense. And you've got family there. Which is the main reason I won't cash out on my house and do something similar.
And, in all seriousness, when I drove across Michigan it was gorgeous country.
Not buying it.Not this time. Picture this. We're on Lake Huron. Anywho, laundry is finally done, we pack up and head out of there around 2. Stomachs start growling so we google search nearby food and stumble upon a little spot called Town & Country and when we went inside, the entire bar stopped what they were doing and ogled at us like we were from Pluto. Found an old table, sat down, ordered some beers, sodas and grub and played a little Keno. Five people, five numbers, we all picked one. First five games, you're right, nada. FIL filled out another spot and said let's pick new numbers. Everybody did but one person. Me. I pick the same number. 8. Best quarterback of all time, Troy Aikman. They tried to get me to change, but I anchored in hard and said no, it's Aikman all day long. Food comes and we started paying more attention to that than the grand-cougars and keno when all of a sudden my FIL says "Holy crap, we just hit 5 numbers....we won $410!". I said "no, we hit the kicker which is 2x....we won $820!". Numbers 8, 18, 26, 35, 64.
Well, the bartender told us $600 was the max allowed for cash outs, so we had to take our ticket to the Michigan Lottery Office, which my FIL did on Tuesday before we departed. Gave the younger boys $50 each and my FIL and I split the balance. Nice flying back with more cash than you brought with you.
TA DA!!!!!!
What part of Michigan would you be looking at, GB? I'm about 2 hours south of the Marshall/K-zoo area (homes to Dark Horse and Bell's brewing, respectively)Family is the main driver. Probably in the area where my in-laws live, which is Lake Orion/Oxford. My SIL bought a nice new house for 300K not too far away from the DTE Energy Music Theater..I think that's the area. Clarkston maybe? She used to live right off of Baldwin. Lot's of lakes, ponds, woods, wetlands, marsh. I dunno...Maybe I'm high. What part of Michigan would you be looking at, GB? my mouth is burning which means my bunghole is going to hate me tomorrow This makes me want to join Facebook and become friends with you. Can you share them here too?I've been awake since 3 a.m., hiked about 23 miles and over 5200 feet of elevation gain (and equal amount of elevation loss), 2/3 of it as a solo hike, at temps up to 90+, in Yosemite today. I might die, but I'll die pretty happy. It was incredible. Facebook friends should expect a ridiculous number of photos tomorrow if I survive.
